Detroit City FC fans on Twitter yesterday were sh*ting on Miami FC's announcement, a complete 180 from a few months ago praising Riccardo Silva's actions and generally favorable reviews on Miami FC. OpEn SyStEm b*tches!
Miami FC joining USL C had to happen if Silva wanted to have a chance to stay somewhat relevant in a crowded sports market, especially with Inter Miami FC's maiden season in MLS starting this year.

Detroit tried to join the NASL before it imploded, which hasn't exactly filled me with confidence in their financial acumen despite their success, but they could easily find some investors and make the jump. Chattanooga would be in an LOL situation if the NISA collapsed.
TBF, the reason why they were "trying" to join NASL is because Commisso and Silva were going to pay their players.
......."while USL and MLS are more stable (if uninspiring)." Holy Cow, if a clown like Glickman can give MLS so much as a left handed and minuscule compliment as this, then hell certainly has frozen over.
I saw this on Twitter that it may be a tactical joining of USL. Silva was reportedly told by CAS that he lacked standing since Miami FC didn't belong to a league that could have pro/rel with MLS. Also also Silva: Told he needs to join a US Soccer league which, for now, does not have pro/rel but must participate to have standing in CAS case... https://t.co/udUuTSEXga— Daniel Workman (@danielworkman) December 12, 2019
“Blowing up the system from within” is what every teenage anarchist says before they grow up and become a cog in the machine.
I remember when soccer was always being laughed at as some dorky activity so it's extra amusing to see the evolution that has led to this subset of fans who seem themselves as punk rock freedom fighters.
I remember when no one gave a rat's ass about lower-division soccer, until suddenly MLS became The Man and repping the lower levels became a way to show how iconoclastic and authentic you were.
Hell, I remember when repping MLS made you the iconoclastic one, since what the hell were you doing watching a bunch of sucky American players run around the field when you could watch the real players in Europe? I must admit that I did not understand that transition as it happened, yet here we are.
I'm so glad to be old enough to have outgrown my anti-establishment phase. Being that way is too damn exhausting.
