The only poll that matters is what the oligarchs...excuse me, "donors", want. That's all Moscow Mitch cares about and until they tell him to do something else, he wont gaf about the trial, if/when it happens.

"I give her respect. She didn't vote the other day. I give her a lot of respect. Because she knew it was wrong. She took a pass," Trump said Saturday at the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit in West Palm Beach, Florida.

I think the real question is if McConnell is more interested in own power or that of the Repiblican party. If the former, no chance of conviction. If the latter, there is a chance.

Those are both the same to McConnell and completely tied to the donor class.

If the will of the donors turns against Trump, McConnell will turn.

I agree that this is tied to the donors in some degree, but he is 77 and likely won't be there much longer. I would not be surprised if he stepped down in 2026, but that would mean he would outlast Individual One under conviction or two terms. Thus, there is the question as to whether or not he is interested in the Republican Party after Individual One, or if McConnell does not see things beyond the end of his life in office. He does know the donors will be around after Individual One, but what legacy does he want to leave them? Or does he care? If he does not care about the legacy for the donors, then there will be no conviction. But if he does care about the donors (which means he cares about the Republican Party as a longer term entity), then there is a possibility of conviction.

McConnell might be worried about a Democratic AG looking into his wife’s family business.

Sounds about right, I couldn't believe there was a Norwegian enclave in Brooklyn a few of the Norwegian specialty stores which have closed though.

We really need Rudy to testify...

Over a sweater, he wore a navy-blue suit, the fly of the pants unzipped. He accessorized with an American-flag lapel pin, American-flag woven wallet, a diamond-encrusted pinky ring, and a diamond-encrusted Yankees World Series ring (about which an innocent question resulted in a 15-minute rant about “f#cking Wayne Barrett,” a journalist who manages to enrage Giuliani even in death).

    Cyber security expert:

In addition to being the president’s free personal attorney, Giuliani, who is 75, is an informal White House cybersecurity adviser and a high-priced cyber-security contractor. In one hand, he clutched three phones of varying sizes. Two of the devices were unlocked, their screens revealing open tabs and a barrage of banner notifications as they knocked into each other and reacted to Giuliani’s grip. He accidentally activated Siri, who said she didn’t understand his command. “She never understands me,” he said. He sighed and poked at the device, attempting to quiet her.

    Rudy a BIG BIG Jew:

He said former ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, whom he calls Santa Maria Yovanovitch, is “controlled” by George Soros. “He put all four ambassadors there. And he’s employing the FBI agents.” I told him he sounded crazy, but he insisted he wasn’t.

“Don’t tell me I’m anti-Semitic if I oppose him,” he said. “Soros is hardly a Jew. I’m more of a Jew than Soros is. I probably know more about — he doesn’t go to church, he doesn’t go to religion — synagogue. He doesn’t belong to a synagogue, he doesn’t support Israel, he’s an enemy of Israel. He’s elected eight anarchist DA’s in the United States. He’s a horrible human being.”

    Watch that carpet, Rudy!

The hostess led us through a hallway to the dining room. As Giuliani walked down the carpeted ramp, he fell over to his right and hit the wall. He kept on walking as if it hadn’t happened. “My God, it’s Rudy Giuliani,” I heard someone say. He nodded and waved at people he knew seated across the restaurant. He stopped to shake hands with an older man and his wife.

“I’d like some sparkling water. And I know you have wonderful Bloody Marys,” Giuliani told the waiter. “Yes, sir,” the waiter said, “and I know you love them.” Giuliani laughed. “You’re a good man!,” he said.

Why does Grampa have 3 phones?

Do you have all three phones?,” his bodyguard said as Giuliani stepped out of the car. “Yeah, I got all three phones,” he said. “I gotta get down to two. I’m gonna try that tonight.”

A few minutes later, as we made our way downtown, I saw from the corner of my eye the sun reflecting off of something. It was the screen of one of the phones, which he had left on the seat next to me.

I handed it to the bodyguard, who laughed. He called Giuliani to tell him, and Giuliani laughed too.

More on journalist Wayne Barrett who all corrupt NYC figures (like Rudy above) hated. He was warning people of Trump decades ago.

"He had prided himself on never having met a public official, a banker, a lawyer, a reporter, or a prosecutor he couldn’t seduce,” Barrett wrote. “Some he owned, and others he merely manipulated. As he saw it, it was not just that everyone had a price, it was that he knew what the price was. He believed he could look across a table and compute the price, then move on to another table and borrow the money to pay it. ‘Everybody tries to get some money’ was his assessment in one unpublished interview of what motivates the people he dealt with. It was his one-sentence summary of human nature.”

He concluded: “Somewhere on this odyssey of his, the image had devoured the man, and Donald had become the commercially useful personality he had helped invent. To some of those who watched him closely, he no longer behaved as if he believed he was merely living; he was now, in his own mind, portraying himself in a thrilling daily drama he scripted.”

Only number that matters is how many Republican senators have a conscience and vote for removal and the rule of law. Of course not enough for conviction but the only ones I see who might are Mitt Romney, Lisa Murkowski and maybe Susan Collins. If I had to put betting money on these 3 I would probably say they all vote to acquit , party first of course.

Doug Jones and Joe Manchin look like acquit votes as well as "Democrats". Quickly get this trial done and see how anticlimactic this election is going to be.

Great news everyone! Sen. Murkowski is frowning very sternly at McTurtle's efforts to coordinate with the White House for the impeachment trial.

I'm sure this means she will definitely consider thinking about the possibility of maybe, just maybe, standing up against the blatant corruption and shenaningans of this administration! Any day now...

Any votes by them to convict Trump would have nothing to do with them having a conscience. They are probably the only senators who can defy Trump without it being a kiss of death to their careers. Besides Collins I think is the only one running in 20. Voting for conviction may be the only way she is re elected.

Collins would be primaried easily by LePage and lose her seat or just forced into Retirement with a remove vote. Murkowski runs in 2022 would be dumped most likely by Alaska voters if she voted to remove. She has never won a majority of the vote just a plurality. Only Romney would be truly safe in Trump skeptical Utah and he has 6 years and stature to outlast Trump in that state. So yes it would be conscience no Republican benefits by voting remove.

Yet both Alaska and Maine would be kinder to their senators than any other states with sitting Republicans. Besides 2022 is a long way away and senators most at risk for being primaryed are are in states that have no chance of electing a Democrat and ME and AK aren't one of those.

I will not get my hopes up that this is the start of any real change, but it is good news for Democrats.

Now a district by district poll would give us more useful information (or a sampling of some districts) but that is more expensive.

Then again, this is one poll, so it could be statistical noise.

Noise until I hear otherwise. Just a couple of weeks back, the hot take was how Americans' enthusiasm for impeachment was waning, per an earlier poll.
