I’d take Pogba for €50m and reasonable wages.

I like Xhaka the person, but the player is terrible. For some players I get a lot of joy saying that because they're terrible people, but Xhaka is an amazing guy, but not a top-class footballer.

I had a 5-tier system that I used when I was a scout. Best player I ever oversaw was a Tier 2. Xhaka is a clear Tier 4.

Tier 1 - Superstar player that can walk into any team and become a worry for the opposition team

Tier 2 - A player that is either otherworldly with his skills or his consistency, or some very high standards of both

Tier 3 - A player that can effect a game at the highest level, but that cannot be expected to hold the mantle day in day out.

Tier 4 - A player that has some flashes, but cannot be expected to contribute at the highest level

Tier 5 - A player that cannot be expected to contribute at the highest level. Any positive contribution is either inflated or deemed lucky

You wouldn't know the players I've dealt with, but trust me - many footballers have egos that are totally out of whack.

I don't get why you don't rate him at all.

I get not wanting him for a stupid price. You litrrally abhor the idea of the guy and he would be a great player for us.

Every time they say VdB is a midfielder is confuses me.

The guy is literally a support striker. Looks like a fish out of water when you play him further back.

Even Ajax fans would admit that.

He has been a flop at Manu. Guy is extremely irregular...great game and terrible game.

But other than the price, it's the fact that he would come in as another Hazard type of signing that superstardom and love affair with Zidane means he plays no matter what and there is nothing i hate more than that. Especially when our current midfield is performing at a high level. We bring in this guy at a likely inflated price and he has to play no matter what.

I just don't see the need.

We need a back up for Casemiro and some help upfront

I'm not a huge fan of the move, but don't you think Pogba could help in both these departments? For example, a Kroos Valverde Pogba midfield, when Casemiro needs to rotate, would have both defensive chops and creativity.

Pogba could plug in any of the midfield spots and do a job.

I don't think that would work..especially vs a good team. We need a real DM

Signing Pogba likely means no Odegaard for the foreseeable future, why would we want to do that? Our focus should be on DMs, Not offensive minded mids, the Camavinga rumors are the type I want to see, more of that please.

Odegaard is joining us in 2021, so if the perspective for 2021 is Pogba, Valverde, Kroos, Casemiro, Odegaard + another midfield player, is that really too much? 6 players for 3 or even 4 positions. Seems very appropriate.

I'm not a Pogba fan, but he's Zidane's absolute wish. I think Zidane has earned enough trust to give him that and see what he does out of it.

I'm all for Kroos, Casemiro, Valverde & Odegaard. Get some cover be it Modric, Isco, Ceballos & DM. No need for Pogba, Eriksen etc.

That's 5 elite players for most likely 3 positions. Only if it's a permanent switch to a 4 man middlefield.

    what the ********
    Valverde is untouchable now
Pogba can’t play unless we want to play him as the 10 behind the strikers, which is unlikely now

Absolutely not, IMO Pogba is no better at defending than Luka or Toni or Fede, and no one wants to see any of those guys at DM, it doesn’t work, I don’t get why some think he is, other than he’s “big” and “tall”,

more often than not ( not always) he has mostly been played with two workers in midfield, he’s very very good going forward and creating chances though, this has all been discussed before albeit with differing opinions I guess

indeed, if it’s not the fans it will probably be one of those elite midfielders complaining about “minutes”

You’ve already named 5 players who’d expect to start most games, that’s the issue I see is running into.

Kroos would be 31 (and his defensive effort will only regress in 30s) in 2021 so I won't mind Pogba at a fair price if we can get him in January. If we are getting Pogba, I'd let Odegaard stay on loan at La Real until 2021.

Manchester United will NOT allow Paul Pogba to leave for Real Madrid in January despite questions over his commitment after his return to action was delayed again due to illness
    • Man United star Paul Pogba has been out since September with an ankle injury
    • He gave his club another setback after his return was pushed back due to illness
    • The Frenchman posted a video of him dancing at brother's wedding hours after
    • The club will not sell Pogba in January despite him wanting to leave the club

Pogba has agitated to join Real Madrid and Barcelona in the past, and there is renewed speculation over a move in next month's transfer window.

However, United sources last night insisted that their stance remains the same and he will not be sold, even though it's understood that they plan to sign two new central midfielders before the start of next season.

The Pogba issue is once again proving to be a distraction for Solskjaer who had hoped to have the player available in time for the Christmas period.

'Of all things he's been struck down ill now,' said the United boss. 'He's been off for two or three days – three days probably – so that's not beneficial. That's probably set him back quite a bit.

'As I've said so many times, Paul's a top player that we want to see him playing his best football at Man United. We just need to get him fit and match fit.

'It might be half an hour, 45, 60, 90 minutes in the first game, who knows? We're working hard to get him back but now he's ill.'

I am not advocating for this, only stating what I think is likely to happen, actually as a concern, if you read my earlier posts on this.

Goalscoring winger like Mane/Salah is much more needed than a midfielder,Benzema is the only goalscorer in this team .

We already have a better player in Valverde. Why jump back infront of the Pogbabullet. No need and no use for him.

I honestly think Ole is completely delusional about Pogba's situation and dedication, he's tripping on something strong.
It's not surprising that Ole's trying to extinguish any and all rumours regarding Pogba's future, but I don't think he will be aligned with what United's management or Pogba's camp will want to do with Pogba in the summer.
