That was an amazing quote. Here in the States, if a newspaper wrote that, even in a quote form, they would be sued out of existence yesterday by the welder, the welder's union, the estates of the welders who died on the job, etc.
Yeah, there's a difference between carelessly welded and not designed properly. Supposedly the report will come out in Q12020, but the engineering firm has said... "The welds were less strong than the adjacent structure. There are indications that the welds were too thin, but this is being investigated further." "The roof was not designed for that." (in reference to 100 km/hr wind gusts). Those are not the same as carelessly welded.
Maybe one of our Dutch speakers could chime in, as I simply used Google Translate on the original article. I agree that carelessly is not a word you would normally see tossed around (carelessly?) in this context.
What article? The way it was described in Dutch papers come down to the welds failed=the welds broke. The why hasnot been established yet afaik, but it could be because of improper specifications for the load the welds had to endure.
Takes home the 2019 U.S. Soccer Young Male Player of the Year award ... https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...ale-young-female-and-player-with-a-disability "Returning to Ajax, the defender started to see regular first-team minutes during the preseason and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. After making his Ajax debut in July, Dest has appeared in 13 of 16 Eerdivisie games and eight of 10 Champions League matches for the Dutch giants." "I want to thank U.S. Soccer for the nomination, I also want to thank my family, my Dutch mom, my Surinamese dad, @feyenoordsoccerfan and everybody who has helped me along the way. Without them, I would not be at the level I am right now. ...”
https://sports.yahoo.com/mc-intyres...h-week-for-americans-in-europe-152845698.html The title of the article makes it sound like Dest was demoted... but perhaps it was meant to represent AJAX falling down to Europa. No mention at all of an injury though...
https://www.en24.news/2019/12/ten-hag-must-stick-plasters-at-ajax.html "Ajax has been suffering from a heavy program in the last few weeks, in which players played many matches and were only able to spend a short holiday. "Pijntjes have resulted in injuries", the trainer realized that Sunday had to miss many players in the AZ game. Quincy Promes, David Neres, Zakaria Labyad, Daley Blind and Sergino Dest were injured. Nicolas Tagliafico was only able to substitute briefly and Hakim Ziyech was no longer fresh. "We now have to see who can be there", Ten Hag said. "We have to stick plasters and get as many players back on board as possible. There were a lot of absences against AZ and we could have won that match", suggested the coach who lost for the third time in a row in Alkmaar (1-0)." Is pijntjes Dutch for groupies, or is that wishful thinking?
I believe it is a concept that is more often attributed to spouses, and tends to afflict the neck area.
Today a Cup fight: https://www.ajaxshowtime.com/articl...ten-hag-kiest-voor-jonkies-hansen-in-selectie Ten Hag out of necesity has to call in some Young players. Dest after his slight injury was training again, but it's not yet known if he can play.
Well, the Young team is a quality loaden squad that skill wise outstretches most club players in our second tier. Telstar is one of the opponents of that league, so normally a mix of first and Y Ajax should be strong enough.
Ajax viewing this match as a chore you really donot want. Could be dangerous as PSV did the same last season with their cup match and lost. By the way...Telstar unbeaten by Ajax since 1977!
What I would like to see today is a healthy Dest starting today, but not on defense. It's time to take a chance and play him further up the field. Really looking forward to seeing what rabbit ten Hag pulls out of his hat today. He's had it too easy. Now that there's some adversity, he can start earning his paycheck. [He = ten Hag, not the rabbit.]
Starts: This XI is #ForTheFuture. 🌟✔️ Gravenberch & Ekkelenkamp#telaja pic.twitter.com/s92G60cwuK— AFC Ajax (@AFCAjax) December 18, 2019
Today's lineup suggests Ajax are taking this match very seriously, even though several of the young players owe their starting roles to injuries. Lang, Gravenberch, Ekkelenkamp (and Dest) are all very promising young players. I believe Ekkenelkamp normally plays in the middle for Jong Ajax, so it will be interesting to see how he and Dest combine on the right side. Lang Huntelaar Tadic Gravenberch Van de Beek Ekkelenkamp Mazraoui Martinez Schuurs Dest Onana Kik Pierie is on the bench for this one.
Google has Dest and Ekk playing on the left side with Lang: https://www.google.com/search?clien...+fc#sie=m;/g/11j0qpjwd0;2;/m/03zhy5;ln;fp;1;; It isn't on ESPN+ so I can't tell which is correct.
