"We know we have a facility that can recruit any player in the world."

Just posted in the other thread, so mods, feel free to move.

All I can say is wow! Looks really nice, and in particular, I like that they are honoring great players from the past. It looks like Ralston, Twellman and Reis, and a couple of others I couldn't quite make out (Joseph, Depmsey?)

It would be really nice if they had banners of these guys hung throughout the stadium on game days. Many years ago I went to a PawSox game and they had banners of former PawSox players who made it to the big leagues. It was a reminder to fans that they might be seeing a player who could be a big star in a few years. For the Revs, it's a reminder that we have had some great players and a history to be very proud of. And, some of the guys on the field right now may find their own banners hanging there too in a few years.

I've been banging this drum for years.

For better or worse, we have a history. How many newer fans don't realize that arguably the greatest American soccer player of all-time began his career in New England?

    Embrace your history. Celebrate it.

Yeah, not only should they set up a "Ring of Honor" for notable Revs, they should also acknowledge the history of previous teams like the Tea Men, Boston Minutemen, and Boston Beacons of the NASL, not to mention teams from way back, like Ponta Del Gada, Fore River Shipyard, Boston Wonder Workers and Fall River Marksmen, all of whom won the US Open Cup at least once, IIRC.

Too many people think the sport is "new" and was invented with the 1994 World Cup. We all know it was really invented by Seattle :ROFLMAO:,

Random thought: This is set in a wooded area with wetlands. Please have really good bug control plans in place. Mosquitos and flys can make similar settings in New England almost unbearable in the summer.

To date, seven New England teams have won the National Challenge Cup / U.S. Open Cup.

    Fall River Rovers - 1917
    Fall River Marksmen - 1924, 1927, 1930 and 1931
    Shawsheen Indians - 1925
    New Bedford Whalers - 1932
    Pawtucket Rangers - 1941
    Ponta Delgada - 1947
    New England Revolution - 2007

Ben Millers of St. Louis defeated Fore River 2-1 in the 1920 National Challenge Cup final.

As for the Boston Wonder Workers, they defeated the Ben Millers 3 games to 2 (0-1, 3-1, 3-2) in the 1925 American Professional Soccer Championship, an alternative title series made necessary when the American Soccer League and St. Louis Soccer League both elected to boycott the National Challenge Cup.

Thanks for the history lesson! Yes, they should have banners or some sort of acknowledgment for all of those New England teams. I wonder how hard it would be to recreate the colors and logos of those teams.
