Reports of Roma being sold and the stadium being built back to back, probably not a coincidence. Seems some posters here were right to speculate that Palotta’s plan was to get the stadium approved and bail ASAP. Does this mean we can keep our best players for once?
Pallotta's investment group are probably looking to cash out after the stadium delay took years of profit away. If the stadium was built 5 years ago, I doubt they would have sold right away. But after so long, they probably want a return on their investment. New owners come in with optimism and no bad experiences with the City.
Despite my pessimism towards whether the stadium ever gets done, I'm going to assume that if someone is going to make an investment this large, they've done their research on how badly we need a stadium, and know the challenges of getting it built. They must have some sort of guarantee of approval if they are going to buy. At least that is what I'm hoping.
One thing that perplexes me is, if I recall correctly, the stadium isn't being built by AS Roma. Didn't JP form another group (some were the same investors and some were not) to finance and build the stadium. If so I doubt he can sell the stadium with the club they'd have to be separate deals would they not. If I recall correctly last year Forbes valued Roma at 600+ mil. If that's the case and we assume the 750 mil is the total price for AS Roma and the stadium that seems awful cheap.

Update: Friedkin has just sent me the latest logo that the graphic designers have come up with. This could be the final version.
It seem like Dan is going to pay off the debt, this at least a 25M+ boost to our bottom line from saving on interest payments. He also might be able to negotiate with Uefa a deal that allows us some leeway in the short term. Also he could bring in new sponsors. Other than that, there won’t be a significant change in the way we operate in the short term, especially if Uefa don’t play ball.
I think people need come to the realization that unless Qatar buy us our model isn't going to change all that much even if you forget FFP. Friedkin is worth about 4 billion and he'd have to sink probably 100 mill annually into the club to get us to point where we can keep our best players and buy 1 or 2 players each year. Nobody is going to spend 2% of their entire net worth each year into a club. Even the Sensi's who are universally praised for loving the club were taking money out when they started having personal finance issues.
I don't think this team is that far off from being a great side. Long term, the LB should be covered if Spinazzola stays fit. Right back for me is an area that will need a consistent fix. Dzeko isn't getting younger. Both these positions are expensive, but at this point, Petrachi has done a great job. He can do really well here.
I don't know, I think we are a bit off. First we have to keep our core players which is no small thing. Second, along the back signing Smalling is looking more unlikely. Spinazzola has been ok but as of now he hasn't shown to be even close to Kolarov. IMO, the only player beyond this year we have there is Mancini. I think we are in fantastic shape in the MF. Lastly, up front the only player beyond this year we can count on is Kluivert and Zaniolo if we continue to play him outside rather than as an AM. Either way we are really lacking any kind of depth at almost every position I think Petrachi has done a great job considering the situation but he was forced to get a lot of players on loan which means next summer we have a lot of work filling those gaps. I said after we fired Mongo that it was probably going to take 3 years to fix the mess

Some articles today say of a stall in negotiations between Pallotta and Friedkin: not true. Talks continuing between the two Americans for Roma. @ASRomaPress— John Solano (@Solano_56) December 12, 2019

Non-related to the hypothetical takeover of the club - Solano has done a great job as a reporter though. No other English-speaking reporters cover Roma. I often think that good business is just fulfilling a need.
