I'm sure of it. Same with MLS. The thing is, Mexico has that tournament so utterly dominated that more often than not, the only worthwile rivals of Mexican teams are the other Mexican teams.
Oh... I really thought that Mexican clubs competed for Concachampions to win. Looks like it was in the past. I hope the Mexican teams will play Libertadores again, they are great teams.
They do try to win, but it's more for the goal of making the CWC than the CCL itself. Before the CWC, Mexican teams often played with bench players and often half assed it. Now there is more legitimate effort. But league play definitely takes greater importance.
Mexicans still win them, but almost on autopilot. It's as if you put, say, Flamengo, Santos and Palmeiras in the Bolivian or Venezuelan league. You would crush it over and over again until it would get boring and you were demanding for the teams to get back to a more competitive league. And I, as most Mexicans, hope we go back to Libertadores again
Yes, Mexico's playoff system is very cool. In Brazil, we had quarter-final, semi-final and final playoffs until 2002. Most Brazilians miss this old format of playoffs, it was more exciting. My team went to the playoff final for the last time in 1999, but unfortunately we lost to Corinthians in a three-game series.

Necaxa lucky it's not like 5-0 right now. Monterrey are wasting chance after chance. It's starting to feel like one of those games where the lesser team steals a result after getting dominated all game.
Monterrey goes to attack but fails to score. It looks like a Brazilian team that had difficulty scoring goals this season: Ceará.
Am I the only one who heard the chant near the end? The referee didn't stop the game because I suppose not enough people did it, but it sounded pretty loud on my screen.
