There is an extreme reluctance to play youth in MLS. Also, not pulling punches here, the overall coaching and tactics in the league kind of sucks. Yes, it has gotten much better, but it still pales in comparison to most other leagues of note. I fully stand by my get out of MLS notion. Crap pay, archaic structure for transfers and lack of quality development for youth players. Some will leave and fail and some will flourish. All of that is a roll of the dice. But at least you aren't trapped in a crap contract with a league that genuinely doesn't give a crap about you unless you are getting transferred to an EPL squad that will back up a Brinks truck to get you out of the situation.
I don't have a strong opinion on MLS vs. Europe for developmental purposes, but I think this paints European clubs as far more benevolent than they are. My experience (not personally, but adjacent) has been that the clubs largely care very little for the developmental players. They want to protect their assets, sure, but at the end of the day it's business, it's cutthroat, and they'll move on from you quickly and heartlessly if it serves the team. Painting MLS as heartless and Europe as benevolent is a mistake. With t by at said, it's likely quite club-dependent.
And this game is NOT on TV? damn I have a feeling CP gonna score here, or at least setup Giroud. Glad to see Giroud gets some minutes. Benching Willian was the right move, he's been pretty poor lately. Though I doubt Pedro has much to offer. Perhaps CHO is not fully fit.
I certainly hope Pedro and Giroud can shake off the rust quickly while being able to link up with Pulisic. Has this attacking trio ever played together ?
Pretty sure they are aware.... I just bought NBC Gold so that I could watch every Chelsea game and I noticed that each team in the EPL will get air time on the main channels at least 4 times during the year... my guess is that Chelsea will end up being the team that gets the most air-time by the end of the season. In the end, $40 for all the live games during the season is not terribly expensive.... I ended up buying the $65 on-demand package so I can watch it at any time. Can be hard to justify for some based on opportunity costs but my obsession for the game borders on addiction.
I just looked into buying it but, they don't prorate the price. It's close to half the season being done but they are still going to charge you for the full season. Seems odd... Does anyone have a good stream?
They aren't, because... ...they're running a business, and they know this is the type of game people will pay for. The Merseyside Derby on Wednesday isn't on TV either. It's shitty though, so hold firm and don't blow your money on their streaming service.
yeah but why wouldn't they prorate the price since a third or close to half of the season has already happened? Why would anyone want to pay a full price for games that have already happened back in August. Seems like good business to entice new members by lowering the price as the season goes along...
I thought this would be the time for the free 7 day trial... oh well. I guess the schedule is pretty set. Otherwise, I would have expected NBC to try move this matchup to the 11:30 Central time slot in place of Watford vs. Southampton.
1. I notice that you didn't really grapple with the counterarguments. You just doubled down. 2. We're in YA. Posters here realized right off the bat that you're very ignorant about Euro leagues.
NBC spent $1 billion on the Premier League. You can't fault them on wanting to claw some of it back via subscriptions.
At least 13 players under 18 made appearances in MLS in 2019 compared to 1 this season in the Premier League. I think the BL is the exception rather than the rule.
and when did i say make the immediate jump to the EPL? What were the actual arguments? And how am I ignorant to Euro leagues? If the generalization is that I'm saying, once again, to make the jump to EPL, then sure... it's less forgiving than MLS. Dutch, BL, 2.BL, Belgium, Portugal etc... are all selling leagues (less so BL, but still) and if you can prove yourself there not only will you get playing time as a youth but the ability to move without absurd price tags. If MLS gives more opportunity to youth, which they definitely should, and allow players to leave with reasonable fees, i'll happily change my position. It will be a long time before i change my stance on it being the best place to develop.
