Wood with the winner... 90'+1 ⏱️ Full-time at the Volkspark and Bobby Wood's 9th-minute effort turns out to be the only goal of the game. Few chances for either side in the second half, Aalborg looked the most likely and had a goal disallowed just before the end.____#HSVAaB 1-0#nurderHSV— HSV English (@HSV_English) November 14, 2019
Some short vid from the game, but oddly not of the goal... beggars can't be choosers, I guess. Looks cold. Der #HSV testet im Volkspark aktuell gegen @AalborgBK. Heck talks Bobby - "Bobby does well..." Maybe one of the better German-speakers can give further highlights. HSV looking for more help up front (in anticipation of Bund, I'd imagine) as Wood's salary strains the kitty. 1195640206596161536 is not a valid tweet id
Tweet headline suggest perhaps Wood up top in a 2 this weekend, but have no idea how realistic the suggestion is. There's a link to German broadcast, but my Dutchie izt nicked zeer goot for translating that... If any better German speakers want to take a crack. 0-0 at the half. Here's to hoping Bobby manages something in the second (they're playing at home against a relegation fodder club, they should win this one). PS: Dresden just scored one of the dumbest goals ever, after a deflection. HSV down at home 0-1.
And that's it for Bobby. Double sub, Hunt x Moritz & Samperio x Wood. Must have had a total of 10 touches in an hour of play, and didn't do much with them. Truth be told, it was like playing with 10: his mates were ignoring him.
I didn't watch, but the few reactions I saw were basically just he's a waste of a slot and they need to bring in some new blood if they go up. Saw one or two calls for better wingers too, fwiw.
Wood who recently turned 27's resume. Last competitive match goal: Nov 25 2018 vs Gladbach. Today's match: Nov 23 2019...... that's basically means he hasn't scored a goal in competitive game for over a year since next matchday goes beyond the 25th.
https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/...y-wood-ist-mr-null-prozent-66246454.bild.html BILD is labeling him “Mr. Zero Percent” and questioning his ability to support any professional team. They portrayed his stats with ridicule: - 0 shots - miserable 13 ball contact, won only 3 out of 8 his challenges. - his top speed was a slow 31km/h not managing to dribble past any defender. Hamburg coach Hecking understand the situation : ”The expectation on Bobby is enormous. Not from me, but from the outside. He’s putting himself under enormous pressure. The team was not playing well enough to get him engaged. He gave his all in 60 minutes. That’s ok.”
Got to say, in public at least, Hecking has been the Hasselhoff we all dreamed of. Amazingly positive and supportive.
I could see Bobby being a smoldering nuclear wreck when things aren't going his way and he doesn't feel supported. He has that intensity. Credit to the coach for doing and saying what he can to avoid that, but it's true that he's offering very, very little and has been for some time. Poor guy needs a few weeks off and a change of scenery
