Makes more sense as he will still get his pay off.

Moaninho is apparently the bookies' pick to take over at Spurs. I can't see it myself - one of the biggest splash-the-cash managers ever in the game, working for the tightest-fisted owner? I don't think so.

    Just watched the Wales Hungary
match. Entertaining and the good guys won. Ramsey scored a brace one from a nice Bale cross.
Young Harry Wilson put in a cameo look in. The lad has promise.

One from each team .... I'd take ....
    Son from Spurs
    Willian from Chelsea
    PEA from Arsenal
    Sane or KdB from Shitty
    Nobody whatsoever from Manure

I would love that. He would be a perfect fit in our team. However, he is 27 years old. Same age as Salah and Mane. Firmino is 28. Most of our squad is of a similar age. We may need to start investing in some younger players.

It’s going to cost Levy 20m to fire poch and staff.

where is the money going to come from to keep the king of checkbook managers in Mourinho happy?

True. But he would still be a great addition at the right price.

Especially since Eriksen, Vertonghen and Alderweireld are all leaving for nothing next summer.

When Jose got sacked after Liverpool embarrassed him last season, I would have never believed it if you told me he would land on his feet this quickly. Mourinho was literally a joke by the time he left Manchester United. Spurs is a team that is in the need of a rebuild. When has Jose ever been able to accomplish this? I really don’t understand the rush to give Jose another high profile job.

Yesterday’s man gets the job. Mourinho’s wrong for a few reasons.

    1. His reputation largely rests on the success he had with Chelsea (#1), Inter and Real. The last silverware he saw was with United, the Europa League in 2017; before that, with Real, the Spanish equivalent of the Community Shield. His tenures at Chelsea (#2) and United were failures for supposed top sides.

    2. Along with his nemesis, Guardiola, he needs a free, big spending owner. In 2.5 years at United he spent almost £400m (and look at them now). Levy is anything but a free spending owner.

    3. Spurs don’t have the reputation or the track record of success that United had, yet, like United they have never been known for dour, defensive bus parking. That style will not sit well with the fans. While initially their opinion might not matter, he will need their support.

    4. Most great managers have a lifespan of about 10-15 years. Yes, there are exceptions, but largely, like players, managers get about 10-15 years at the top. Mourinho won the CL with Porto in 2004. His defensive philosophy has been largely overtaken by the Klopps, Guardiolas and even Brendan Rodgers.

    5. His act has become very old; “I won the game, I’m the special one; they (the team) lost the game” has happened too often for him to have much credibility and influence left.

Mourinho’s not yet in the same category as Trappatoni, Van Gaal and Heynkes, but despite his age is closer to them in philosophy and shelf life than Klopp, Guardiola or even Pochettino.

I did say in the summer that this was going to haunt Spurs. Levy has a track record of squeezing out every penny but this time he over-estimated himself. Rose is also running down his contract and will not move.

I wonder what changes Mourinho has (or has been) promised?

In any case the Mourinho deal has been in the works for sometime, clearly. Someone posted an article that Levy/Spurs tried to get him the first time he left Chelsea - so there is a long standing admiration.

I'm hoping he does two things 1) takes points off our rivals, and 2) fails overall

I'm happy they went with Jose instead of Benitez. Raffa in charge of Spurs might have been cause for concern if he'd been given a proper go at it... Mourinho I'm not too concerned about, not with his recent track record.

I hope Poch flirts with ManU long enough to keep them from looking elsewhere, then spurns them for....just about anyone, although Real Madrid would seem among the most likely destinations for him.

I expect that Brendan Rogers will have an increased salary next year, either at Leicester City or with Spurs.
