Has anyone ever seen Carlos Alberto play? The kid's a god. I'll buy a season tickket immediately just to watch him. One of the most skillful, talented youngsters in Europe who's already won plenty of trophies. Maybe i'm dreaming a bit too much...

So what's he doing announcing his arrival before the club does eh?
Well that'll be 3 identical blondies for the left hand side, what's with that eh? Should be plenty of conspiracy theories surrounding that one...e.g. Big Frank's Mid-Life Crisis....

The talk about signing Buffel has spread. It's uncertain whether this may mean the definite end of Robbie Keane, or if Buffel will be brought in on top.

Good news is that there are no shortage of bidders for Keane - Aston Villa have joined Everton and Man City as likely people. We should get at least 6 million and his monster wages out of our club.

It's a shame about Keano but it does look like the writing's on the wall. We'll make about £3-3.5m by selling Keane and buying either Buffel or Dean Ashton.

I don't believe Keano will be going anywhere soon. All the clubs mentioned are steps down from Spurs, and with our current 'revolution', he won't want to leave anyway.

What is Arnesen's fixation with midfielders? Does this signal the end of Jacko's Spurs career (hopefully!)? Does this signal the end of Davies's Spurs career (not sure I mind much anymore, he's crocked all the time)?

It's no good trying to predict who Arnesen is going to sign. He signs people no-ones even heard of!

Midfielders are the most important part of a team IMO. See Spurs of the last few years to know what I mean.

    Just like Wenger....

A superstar has to come from somewhere! Might as well be us that they become one rather than spunking £25m on them when they already are great :)

From THFC online (is this an official source?):

This is a busy time of year for Mr.Levy and Mr.Arnesen at the minute, with Levy's cheque book firmly open in preparation for next month's transfer window. Even befoe the window has opened, we have completed the signings of David Limbersky on loan and Emil Hallfredsson, both under 22, and both wingers.

I can reveal however, that NO other bids have been tabled for ANYONE and NO bids have been recieved. Shola Ameobi has recently been crossed off Frank Arnesen's shortlist which includes Dean Ashton, Carlton Cole, Joe Cole, Van Der Meyde, Christian Wilhelmsson, Aruna Dindane, Jermaine Pennant and Wayne Routledge.

Shaun Wright Phillips has been pencilled off the list, as City show no sign of willingness to sell.

Offers of around £8m will be accepted for Robbie Keane, but as our Sporting Director said at the weekend, it will take 'silly offers' to persuade the club to sell its star assets such as Defoe and King.

Despite Chelsea's denial of any interest in Defoe, Levy privately remains worried that they may come in for him, and there is also talk of foreign interest. However, it is very unlikely that he would move abroad at this stage of his career.

The club's shareholders have been putting pressure on Levy to accept bids of around £20m each for King and Defoe, but Levy will
not budge from his asking price of around £30m.

Not official source, although it seems to say it knows a lot about what goes on in the boardroom.

Not sure that shopping list is accurate either! With some, obviously, but not Carlton or Joe Cole and Pennant.. ffs!! Pennant?!

Does anyone know how serious we are in Wayne Routledge?

I think he will be a great player and is in the last year of his contract with lowly Palace. Surely he wouldn't mind joining the Spurs revolution......

    Wilhelmsson
    Ashton
    Routledge

That would be a good transfer period if we got these guys (assuming noone other than the Redknapps/Bunjy's of the team are sold...

Well it seems Reid is nowhere to be seen under Arnesen. Of this list I wouldn't mind adding Cole, Van Der Meyde, Dindane, Pennant or Routledge, although I don't think any of them are world-beaters. IMHO, Cole is a bit over-valued and Pennant a bit under-valued by most. I don't know about Wilhelmsson (has he already been signed?), but he sounds like a good addition. I trust Arnesen, and all of these guys seem like decent contributors. We definitely need another wing midfielder for each side. What happened to the rumors of James Beattie?

Re; Routledge. Spurs put a bid in on deadline day in the summer and it was close but didn't work out. His contract is up in the summer, so why buy him now and have him come off the bench? Offer a deal, let him stay at Palace and then join. First team football and be a big player for them and join up in pre-season.

I don't think Van Der Meyde, Carlton Cole, Joe Cole or Pennant (hopefully, the waster) are on Spurs' list. Don't think they ever have been. Just comments from the message boards and newspapers that get picked up by the hacks.

Alright, well this guy seems to be very sure of himself - and if he is, then fair play to him.

    THFConline.

Right, lots of names there. The American at PSV is Beasley i'd imagine, he only moved there in the summer.

"Looking at" and "bidding for" are 2 very different things and there should be a huge distinction made between them. Not too thrilled with some of the names, but at least Laurent Robert doesn't feature!!

Out of those names i'd be interested in seeing Vanden Borre, Wilhelmsson, Sneijder, Darren Bent and maybe Routledge and Johnson. No one else.

Southampton are trying to get Callum Davenport on loan. They wanted to buy Gardner a while ago but that seems to have been rejected. I do not think the club would be willing to let Davenport go to Southampton as unlike with West Ham or other Championship teams we cannot recall him with just 24 hours notice. If he goes to a Premiership team he has to stay there until the next transfer window (summer). With Naybet having a groin problem and Gardner still to show that he has improved, worth keeping him in case they need him.

Apparently one of our defenders may be loaned to QPR, no word on who this is though. Would be interesting if it was Defendi.

i haven't seen beasley play at psv yet, but his last year in MLS was unremarkable (perhaps he knew a european team was coming and he didn't want to waste energy/risk injury?). he's fast, generally has good ball control and can score goals, but man he's a twig of a man. if he weighs more than 10 stone i'd be surprised. i would have preferred convey.

beasley at psv is being played more up front than he used to be in chicago. i believe he's scored 7 or 8 times, now (3, i believe, in the champions league). hasn't sewn up a starting position with the team, but starts pretty frequently, and gets his minutes. just judging by the goals (which i've seen on the web) and the feedback from most of my countrymen who've seen him with psv, i'd say that he's playing pretty well. i have, however, read an interview with hiddink, in which he, while complimentary, didn't seem quite as impressed as most of us yanks. no shock there, then. this endorsement should, naturally, be taken with a grain of salt.

certainly he is small; but he's been on the receiving end of physical play for as long as he's been a pro, and it doesn't much slow him down. he also got back and defended very well here, where he was virtually always played out wide in midfield. tons of pace, and can, and will, take on defenders. crosses well, but not consistantly so (i guess that means he doesn't cross well). and while it's true that he did not excel in his last few months in chicago, he's without question one of the two or three best players to have yet come out of the states.

meanwhile, convey struggles to get a match a reading.

i'd love to see damarcus come to spurs - and not solely because he's from my hometown and i know his folks. he could definitely bring some width to the team. i think his style going forward would fit in with the traditional tottenham image. having said that, i'm not convinced that he has the consistency to win the hearts of the faithful, and, if i'm objective, i suspect we might do better elsewhere.

as a tottenham fan, i think beasley could be a decent acquisition. as a beasley fan, him going to spurs would be extremely cool.

still, not worth getting worked up over so loose a rumor, now, is it?

Just don't think Wilhelmsson is in the bag like most websites do.

Reaks of Andy Reid all over again. Some stupid director of football thinks he can make us pay over the top and Frank is putting him and everyone else who deals with us in their place that those days are over, no matter how badly we need the player making poor finanical decisions is not in the best interest of the club.

Anderlect has a good supply of Champions League money coming in every year so will be tough to get Wilhelmsson for cheap in my opinion and Frank hasn't made one poor move yet so I doubt he will start now so unless Wilhelmsson comes for a reasonable amount I just don't see this one happening, even as much as I want it too.

I'd recommend against DaMarcus Beasley. While I think he's a heck of a player, and plays much better defense than he's given credit for, he has some serious flaws. He's not a good crosser--as a winger that's fatal--and he's too light for the physical nature of the Premiership. Great guy, great player and great teammate, but I think he'd be lotsa sizzle and too little results in the Premiership.

Interesting to see Sneijder on that list. I've been a fan of Johnson's for a while, but with Ifil and Kelly here, I don't think anything except a loan makes sense. Saha would be fantastic, but that will not happen. I'm hoping that we get our winger situation worked out, because without Davies on form, we really need help there.

Does anyone know if Santini's preferred coach, Dominic Cuperly, left with him? There's been no news, so I was just wondering if anyone has heard different.
