The goal shows how to play in these conditions - you have to be so much more direct. But even our long passing has been poor (except for the goal).

I don't see it happening on this pitch. If Lux starts attacking more the best option is to send long balls over the top. Keeping the ball in the air is going to be essential to avoid the bobbly pitch. Otherwise, if Lux starts pressing more I can see Danillo (or anyone really) easily coughing up the ball in a dangerous position. It's going to be ugly 2nd half.

Danilo and Andre Silva have lost the ball a lot. At least Danilo is covering a lot of ground. Andre Silva hasn't got the memo about the fact he's a forward. So every time he touches the ball he either dribbles himself into trouble or passes up a shot to pass to the defender in front of him. He has also rarely run wide or long effectively as a long option (although that's because he prefers to play with his back to the goal - which, on a pitch like this, is probably a poor managerial choice).

Neves long range passing and shooting would be very useful today. Take out Pizzi for him IMO. Then take out Andre Silva for Goncalo.

Paciencia would have been better suited to these poor pitch conditions.

Bruno Fernandes excellent goal. Him and Bernardo Silva are developing a good understanding together. Bruno Fernandes plays with a lot of heart, for my teams I always look for a player like that and make them the first name on my team sheet.

One player Portugal is missing dearly at the moment is William Carvalho. These conditions would not have phased him.

I'm ok with bringing in Moutinho and Jota here. The right type of situation for both.

I really really like Ricardo. Great tackler, great speed, really impressing me.

The moment I say that Ricardo lost the ball but his recovery was phenomenal. He has some pace.

Now Bernardo and Bruno take too long to pull the trigger when one of them should have gotten a shot off. A lot of this today.

Jota already showing so much more than Andre Silva playing on the left.

Even a weak shot could cause issues with weird bounces. Not sure why we dont just shoot.

Disagree. He got the ball plenty of times. Killed every attack.

You are on crack he received the ball wide of the box nothing played to him when he was inside or center...actually there was one that he laid on a platter to Pizzi with time and space that Pizzi made a meal of.

Funny that Andre's good play is his fault for Pizzi not even getting on target.

The reason for that goal: (a) Bernardo Silva puts the ball in a dangerous spot and (b) Jota uses his strength to win his battle - where Andre Silva would have been pushed off the ball.

hahaha. Pizzi was also piss poor but Andre Silva was a complete nullity. He lost the ball nearly every time he touched it. Jota in 5 minutes has shown more than Andre did in 50 min.
