Watching English fans and announcers and commentators deal with Ronaldo when he first got to ManU was a real education.

I try really hard not to post about the Nats in YA, but "all hands on deck" hinges on whether one considers Bradley and Roldan "hands."

Your point is valid, if CP is healthy we need him, but the Nats just make me sick right now, and I do like watching him with a coach that understands he is best more central than way the frick out wide. I was not happy about having to watch CFc to begin the season, but I am a CP fanboy and had figured it had to be better than watching Geoff with Tony Pulthis and SCFC. It has turned out to be delightful entertaining football. Lumpy may turn out to be quite the coach.

I feel similarly. I am so dispirited and pessimistic about Berhalter as the leader that watching all these talented players like Dest and Pulisic be so badly misused is just depressing. I suppose if Berhalter abandons his approach to the Canadian high press and it produces a really impressive result, I could start to develop hope again. But he seems like such a rigid zealot about his system that I don’t hold out much hope for that happening. He seems more interested in vindicating his style of play them in helping the United States team get better.

Lampard has done a great job inspiring Pulisic to develop box to box skills and his defensive energy is very high. At the pace he plays I wonder if he can go longer than 75 or 80 minutes each game. The first half of these games he has much so much intensity into his play and he AND Mount are wreaking havoc with the opposition. If anything those two together are the keys of Chelsea’s future. I hated Lumpy early on but he has the team and Pulisic firing on all cylinders.

the knock he took was due to slamming his hip into the goal post after he hit the ground during his goal scoring header. You can clearly see it on the replay.

I don’t trust GGG and would rather see him stay in London and get healthy and rested.

I have the impression they had Pulisic name ready for the sub before the goal. CHO was ready, too.

So it cannot be just the hit to the hip after the goal.

If he's injured, I'm fine with him resting. What I don't get is the people suggesting that he was exaggerating to be left out, and who were praising him for it.

Pulisic has never given any impression of not wanting to be there for the NT, no matter what our own Fifth Column thinks.

If he starts finishing attempts like this, look out. Crazy thing is even though he has 5 goals in his last 3 Prem games, he could easily have had at least 3 more.

I really like this Billy the kid.

I think the future attacking mid for Chelsea is Billy, NOT Mount. I just don't see Mount having the vision nor skills to lead the Chelsea attack. He still have a role on this Chelsea squad, but certainly not their leading man. I think Billy is that guy. I expect to see him get significant minutes next season under Lampard.

I am sorry, but Canada is not as good as the US. A full strength US team under a somewhat decent manager, would have won against Canada convincingly. I will admit that Canada's had the best of the mediocre MLS players that was called up by our dumb coach. Canada's coach absolutely had 3G for lunch. 3G is no competition for Herdman.

Not trying to argue, but the manager is part of the team unit. You can't say we are better than them IF we had a decent manager. That is akin to saying we are better than them IF we had better players. The team is as it is. And right now, Canada, at worst, is on the same level as the US. We have to take the components of the team as they are, and that includes the team leader ... Gregg Berhalter.

Love to see the camaraderie among the young stars at Chelsea.

    More praise from Lampard...

"He played some games early on and the pace of the Premier League is tough for any player, it's been proven time and time again.

"But with Christian, I always believed that he had huge talent and was going to be a big player for us, and he's absolutely showing that.

"I thought he was first-class today, as he has been recently. Energy, movement of the ball, slipping past people, working off the ball and the quality. He's getting into areas and scoring in and around the six-yard box, which I think is a huge thing for any wide player."

The only downside was a suspected hip problem that led to his substitution straight after his goal - although Lampard is optimistic that it won't prove serious.

"The only frustration is he comes off with a bit of an injury, which he was going to get subbed off for before his goal," he said. "He's got a bit of a hip issue but I'm hoping it's not too bad because the way he's in full flow at the minute is great to see."

Canada has two active players in the Champions (Davies & Borjan) while we have one, now that they benched Dest (Pulisic).

And they got Arfield & David in the Europa. So they're not that weak.

    But enough NT talk.

    Something changed with Pulisic.

At Dortmund, he always passes the ball in/around the box where we were screaming for him to be selfish and shoot.

At Chelsea, he's shooting way more. Even at times, where it was the better option to pass the ball to someone else to finish.

Is he more hungry for goals? Did Lamp tell him to shoot more, attack the posts more?

Ah to be young, rich, super-talented, having fun, did I mention rich? And hanging with funny guys from all over the world...

Heck, I'd just take young, but seems like CP and friends are having some fun at the moment.

I am happy with the “Lampard’s man management” explanation because as long as it is the dominant explanation, CP will remain in good stead with Frank. As a CP watcher this all seemed inevitable given playing time. Based on the Dortmund experience I expected more assists than goals, but he is going to produce a lot of both once these young players get fully comfortable with one another.

Absolutely love this. You can't win trophies if the players are not having fun out there with each others.

The future looks great for Chelsea.

He has the most shots today and I’m loving it. I’ve said it for a long time, and it sounds obvious, but if he was ever going to increase his goal tally he needs to shoot more. He’s got the confidence to shoot more and that’s going to pay huge dividends moving forward. He can be a 15 goal/10. Assist a season midfielder on a regular basis.
