In some positive news, the U17 and U19 women's national teams have won the UEFA championships this year.
Euro qualifying group: Spain, Sweden, Norway, Romania, Faroe Islands, Malta Should be pretty straight forward with this group.
Unbelievable scenes in today's English League Cup final near the end of extra time and penalties approaching. Kepa's actions not only place a divide between himself and the coach but could also damage his relationship with his colleague where you normally see a bond between the no. 1 and 2 goalkeepers. Should this affect his future status with the national team?
I would like Pogba comes to Real! What do you think? Pogba opens the door to a possible future in Real Madrid
This is the forum for the Spanish national team. You may get a better answer if you ask that question in the Real Madrid forum. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forums/real-madrid.241/
Robert Moreno takes over as national team coach. He becomes the first Catalan coach of Spain in over 50 years (Domènec Balmanya, 1966-68)
Interesting choice. He's an intelligent guy that has patiently worked his way up the coaching ladder as a loyal assistant. He's now in a position where he's got some great talent to work with as he puts it all together. Solo le deseo todo lo mejor. Espero que España realize más éxito en esta nueva etapa.
Jeez, this forum seems to have died. Anyone watch Spain-Germany Nations League today? I just got home from work and about to watch it. How do you think Spain rates for the Euros? Does the one-year postponement help or hurt their chances? It seems most everyone feels the team they're rooting for has been helped by the postponement. I plan to take days off during the Euros so I'll be here to post if anyone else wants to help revive this forum. Spain are not that shabby a team.
Great performance, and I think Spain will be looking at the other teams and only feeling that France are better right now. Fati - Morata - Torres will be a really good front three once Fati is back. And a mid of Thiago - Rodri - Koke is as good as it gets at the tournament.
Raul will always remain a mystery to me because he never seemed to have performed well for Spain when it mattered. Great player though. As for this win over Germany, it goes to show you can never count Spain out. The quality they have in their ranks, in every position, is a class above anyone else. Luis Enrique's team will be favorites to win the Euros and Nations League now.
This is the worst Spanish team that I can remember. And I remember the days of Julio Salinas. And it's exacerbated by Luis Enrique with his selections and tactics. It might be best to lose against Slovakia, give the federation a wake up call.
I share your frustration, but I think that's too harsh. Many in España aren't happy about player selection - especially the omission of Real Madrid players. There's not a single one on the roster. Still, this is a solid team that is suffering from not having practiced together recently due to COVID related issues. Building chemistry takes time. If they win the next game and qualify into the next round, I think you will see them start to come together and improve their level of play up to what everyone expects. Viva España!
