Between the senior team and u-17's, how many players look as good as or better than they do w/ their clubs? The answer is at most a handful, and the dynamic used to be the exact opposite. They're making their heads swim seemingly. The only manager who clearly didn't and allowed them to act on instinct was Tab. Too early to tell with Kreis.
Mo Edu is correct. The team is not hungry to win. It’s like the individual players are just satisfied to have made the team.
The #3 and #4 from CONCACAF (Haiti and Canada) are going to finish penult and antepenult in this one, only above the #2 in OFC (The Solomon Islands). So yeah, CONCACAF is terrible. 3-0. They need one more.
They look a completely different team. CONCACAF is weak, but they played really well against Mexico. It’s the play style and effort that seems night and day. Regardless of the talent of the opponent, those two things shouldn’t change.
Don't look that good. Some players that will go on to have pro careers, but others that will sputter and find a job.
I think this is my breaking point in following USS for a while. It's not that I care about u17 results or the team much in general. But this tourney is really reflective of a rot within the system and that the USSF board either doesn't give a f**k about the sport or their ideas are so harebrained they're going to run us into the ground. First step is a boycott, and if nothing substantive changes soon after that there needs to be a collective effort from someone to start a new organization that actually cares about the sport in this country, isn't incompetent, and just worry about maintaining their own power + inflated salaries while they crash out of one key tourney after another as they rationalize it doesn't matter because we made a deal for a Mickey Mouse replacement which we could have done anyway.
I wonder if any of these players will be told that they were being scouted for Euro clubs, but now there's no interest.
at the end of the day the best part about the u17 world cup is its ability to crush egos. lot of kids that need to work a lot harder off the ball
It seems like Wicky didn't teach these players how to count to 5. I see Bello wide open with an advantage in numbers and our players are like …..huh....what do I do? then when Holland has adjusted they go oh yeah let me pass over there. Stroud would have ripped these Dutch a new one for each. Dutch treat. Of course Dutch changed at half and started going down our left side and it looks to me like Bello just isn't 100% rehabbed from his long lay off for injury. I think Jasson and Scalley have been our best players.
I don't agree with Mo. I think we haven't put a team together. It's just 11 youths who are playing a pick up game.
Honestly, I think when we watched the last cycle we kind of figured England would beat us but I think we all enjoyed watching the boys do as well as they could and were happy about the show put on by Carleton, Sargent, Weah, Sands, Booth, Lindsay, et al. I think we were much happier with an inventive, creative team that put on a good show than watching the latest iteration which is 11 robots with no clue.
Our kids look as if this were happening to someone else, as if they were watching the destruction from outside, as if it were not their bodies. What have Egg and Wicky done to their souls?
