Thats Sevilla coach is a total dumbass. Luuk finally scores his 1st goal and looks to breaking out of his slump, and he rewards him by benching him the last 2 games.

    Idiot!!

Cillessen doesn't make me feel very safe to be honest. He isn't bad but if we had Krul or Zoet i'd feel better. I also would give Drommel a chance.

It is good to see Stengs but he has not made the final cut yet. What about Ihattaren? Is he still not ready (due to family reason)? I will drop Strootman or Vilhena or Veltman for him.

Neither Cilessen, Krul, nor Zoet inspire confidence tbh. It’s fair to say that it’s a problem area for the Dutch.

I think I prefer Krul over Cillessen right now. All those years of sitting on the Barcelona bench have made him rusty

He needs time to make a mature, well-considered, decision about which country he wants to represent. Considering the good relationship with the Moroccan federation and technical staff, i suppose he is seriously thinking about the Moroccan offer.

Which relationship? He has so far only represented knvb teams.

It is time we let youngsters sign loyalty contracts. Tax money is wasted on those traitors.

Morocco Football Federation president was at the funeral of Ihattren’s father. Nobody from the knvb was there!

If he chooses Morocco then let's unretire Nigel de Jong and take care of him

Damn it, KNBV, do your job!! :p As I previously wrote, I really think the secret weapon is Ibi Afellay. Somebody who has tangible experience wrestling with the same issue. I think Afellay would be an excellent mouthpiece for Oranje. Seemed like he had a pretty easy time integrating to the team, and arguably his career was helped by his time in Oranje (though unfortunately hampered by injuries :x3:). I always have a soft spot for him. Looks like Afellay has been on PSV bench lately, so he must be close to fitness!

I don't think Afellay can help. Where was he when Oussama Idrissi, Hakim Ziyech, Nordin Amrabat, and Sofyan Amrabat made decision? I'm not saying these are world class players and with them we would not miss or win major tournaments in the past. However, it's sad to see players born in one country, grow up and develop in second country and decides to represent first country. I can understand when the players are not good enough to represent the 2nd country then go back to first country. It is just my opinion. Speaking from experiences, I still love my birth country where I grew up, but I love my second country more.

Morocco is so dirty in how they try to get in Ihattaren head and convince him to join.

A lot of things on twitter saying Ihattaren declined the KNVB for November matches again and has his heart set on Morocco. Not sure what to believe but I have a bad feeling he is going to Morocco.

If he does, something needs to happen. Plays in Netherlands his whole life, plays for the youth teams, and then bolts when it matters. Mo is one of my favorite players but would be so disappointed if he does this

Well, Mo is sharing the same training ground with Afellay day in and day out, and he is said to idolize Afellay... of course it counts for something! I hope.

  14. Well, if you feel welcome and part of something or not, could make the difference.

I think Ihattaren is going to choose Morocco... i’m almost sure of it. And that would be absolutely crushing. In truth, if that happens I will have no faith in any Moroccan choosing for Oranje in the future.

I hope i’m wrong, I really do. I like him as a player, and I like to see Oranje be a ‘weerspiegeling’ of the Dutch community. I want to see Moroccans and Turks in the team. I hope that would go a way to making those communities feel a little more connected to the country they live in.

Unfortunately I am really really prepared for disappointment. I also think for Ihattaren himself Morocco would be the wrong choice. He fits so much better with his game in Oranje. Although damn....Ziyech and Ihattaren together could be lethal. Likewise for Ihattaren/Depay/Stengs/Frenkie though... damn!

In fairness, absolutely nothing substantial. It's just a gut feeling... for whatever reason I just really believe it to be the case. I have no evidence to back that up though (fortunately). Perhaps because since Ziyech literally every single Moroccan player has chosen Morocco? It truly changed everything.

I also really wonder how the tragedy around his father may have influenced the decision in one direction or the other... The stories about the Moroccan FA going to the funeral really sickened me. They can twist their reasoning however they want but we all know it was a huge manipulation tactic.

A player has to follow where his heart is. If its Morocco then he should choose that. I have no problem with that.

The last thing I want is Ihattaren choosing NL just because we are more likely to win the WC. Thats for the wrong reasons

To a degree I agree with that... however it is kind of frustrating when generations of kids born and raised in your country choose with their heart for another country. I mean, the kid has gotten so much support in PSV and jong Oranje and plays there with a bunch of friends who are all coming out for the Netherlands. You would think they could have some pride to play for the Netherlands.

I also think that you can play with heart and pride for more than one country. As a dual national myself (who has actually lived in both countries for many years unlike these other 'dual nationals' who have no idea how their ancestral country actually operates) I would feel very proud to play for either Oranje or USA, even though I obviously know which one I would choose. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't give my 100% and feel very honored to play for the other one as well.

In that case I do believe a player like Ihattaren should choose the Netherlands. If he has pride for both, even if the warm feeling towards Morocco might be a bit stronger I absolutely think there is something to be said for the loyalty aspect. At the moment I think it's kind of ridiculous how it's going. Players benefiting from our society, coaches, support, etc. and then ditching at the last moment to play for a country where they occasionally go on vacation. It's a very corrupt system at the moment and those countries are taking advantage of it 100%. I'm not sure I could excuse the system anymore in the future if Ihattaren chooses Morocco. For me that would be the last straw in reference to dual nationals from those specific countries.

Lets put it this way. Growing up I was always for Oranje because my family is all from the Netherlands, I visited the Netherlands a lot, etc. For that reason I would choose with my heart for the Netherlands (now i've also lived in the Netherlands for many years so that choice is even more justified). However, had I been an amazing player and gone through all of the US youth development systems, played for the youth teams, etc. I don't think I could justify to myself playing for the Netherlands over USA. Out of loyalty to all those who supported me throughout my development I would choose the USA, even if maybe my 'heart' was more for the Netherlands.

A situation like Dest (although I detest how USA actively poaches young talents) or Mazraoui I can understand. A situation like Kokcu (or Ihattaren if it happens) I can't. That to me just goes too far.

This is a WARNING, I will not tolerate any posts that slur the ethnicity of players. I have deleted two posts that I think stepped over the line. Players can choose whatever NT they are eligible to play for and we need to respect that decision..
