Glad to see Oakland doing well. Disappointing numbers, don't see Atlanta SC, 1904 FC, LA Force hanging around unless something changes...
I mean no loss in all 3 cases. All of those cities have better options to watch, which likely explains all 3 struggling.
NISA Showcase Attendance Report Week 7 : Oakland Roots tops the week with over 5700, California United Strikers FC 1600+, and Chattanooga FC drawing 800+ vs Stumptown Athletic last Saturday. pic.twitter.com/p8RvD2MF54— Leonardo (@Leonard_FC) October 23, 2019
What is the incentive for DCFC and CFC to go pro? 800/game is a setback for them, much less the additional costs associated with true professional ball.
They're kinda stuck. They've obviously outgrown the NPSL but it's a tough transition. The very things that made them successful at the amateur level fall away at the pro level.
Those are just the NISA numbers too. They had north of 5k in the two friendlies they played against Mexican league teams.
Yeah Oakland has clearly tapped a heretofore unserved segment of the soccer community in the Bay Area that wasn’t being served by the Earthquakes or anyone else. Frankly I hope the USL East Bay folks reach out and partner with them because the Roots have built a good base to grow on in a very short time.
I seriously doubt they partner. I suspect they’ll look to have competing teams. The markets and demographics are different and large enough to support both.
Maybe. However Easy Bay also owns Oakland which as you say is a somewhat different market. As I understand it they’re looking at possibly bringing two teams in and partnering would be an easy way to utilize a ready made team in Oakland proper.
Easy for Mark Hall but they won’t want to give up any power to him and don’t need his money. From his reputation that wouldn’t work for him. They will look to buy from him or see if the USL will force his hand. My understanding is that his territory rights are on a timeline. If he can’t get a team up and running in time then he loses the rights. His first focus is not oakland. I suspect he sells the rights to Oakland to the Roots.
Another week of abysmal attendance. Miami’s move back to FIU didn’t help their numbers like some said it was. I know shocking. NISA Showcase Attendance Report Week 8 : LA Force with over 900 vs California United Strikers FC, the Miami FC with just under 900 vs Oakland Roots, and Stumptown Athletic with over 400 vs Atlanta SC. pic.twitter.com/yNRthVaBvb— Leonardo (@Leonard_FC) November 1, 2019
Yeah not good, this is a "dry run" anyway. Although it begs the following questions: Does the league even have sponsors? Better broadcast deal next year? Who stays, who goes in terms of teams before the upcoming season begins? Better vetting process? (See: Philadelphia Fury) Better organization?
San Diego’s smallest crowd yet. 1500 max I’d estimate. Supporters group is about the only thing to grow. And I think they renamed themselves to The Outsiders, which seems like a dig at the SD Loyals Supporters Group, The Locals.
This is why following the European calendar sucks. Right now, the NFL, College Football, NBA, and NHL are going, plus MLB just ended. College basketball is starting on Tuesday as well. How is NISA supposed to gain traction with all that going on? That's why MLS/USL calendar is far superior
I mean The Outsiders is an improvement over The Black Plague... But honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they’re preparing for 1904 FC’s inevitable demise and peeping to be the counter group to The Locals supporting SD Loyal.
Oy, this Miami FC: FINAL: Miami FC captures its 9th trophy with a 3-0 victory in the NISA East Coast Championship!!!!#VamosMiami pic.twitter.com/mu6ebvNqxd— Miami FC (@TheMiamiFC) November 10, 2019 Yeah. That's a trophy.
Where are they getting 9 trophies from? They won the last two NPSL championships, but never a NASL one. Also I really wouldn’t count this because all they did was qualify for the playoffs.
Man I thought the Cosmos where bad, but counting divisional titles, conference titles, and playoff berths as legit champions is just sad.
