And the Leafs pucking off at 7pm didn't help Toronto. Cold, wet and miserable weather in the Northeast today.
66114 for the Falcons game today too - exactly same as for United. Mistake or is that a new sellout number?
They averaged a healthy 1,367 during the regular season. That compares to Orlando B's 203 and TFC II's 168.

Due to being over on the peninsula for my grandfather's wake/party/celebration of life/whatever we labelled it I wasn't as focused on this game as I normally am during Oregon week. We had a group at the party huddled around the TV late and I kept an eye on things, but I think being distracted worked out this year. We'll be back next year though.
"Listen, folks, if y'all aren't doing anything in the next 24 hours would you mind sticking around and watching our other team play? We'll throw in some free nachos! Whaddya say?!"
Very odd. There are not the same amount of seats for both. All 4 corners roll in for soccer/United removing a thousand or so seats. Maybe they had SRO seats for United and not for Falcons making the total the same? Them having the same number does make you wonder if that is the new set total MBS is allowing for non-special events.
FWIW, Atlanta paper lists the Falcons attendance via the tix-distributed model of 71k. Methinks the 66k figure was an error. Will be anxious to see the venue's end of year report with actual butts for each team.
As well it should. That team is horrid. Coach Quinn has literally made the team worse each season. 19-22 since that ill-fated Super Bowl, I believe.
Well... I'd look at NTXSC's attendance figures with a grain of salt. For one thing, FCD full season ticket holders got in for free. For another, many of their home games were right after an FCD home game and people with an FCD ticket could stay for the NTXSC game. But then, "drawing huge crowds" has never been any sort of goal for HSG in starting NTXSC. We'll see what the actual interest in the team is next year when they move to Globe Life Park in Arlington, the former Texas Rangers stadium that's currently being converted for permanent use for football and soccer, where the XFL's Dallas Renegades will also play starting next season.
Nor for FC Dallas, except on July 4. What are the chances that FCD is using NTXSC as a trial run for moving FCD to Arlington? I had assumed they'd tear down the Ballpark at Arlington once the new Rangers digs were opened, but I saw a few weeks ago that the Renegades and NTX were moving in. Atlanta did the same thing with Turner Field when the Braves moved out, converting the stadium to a rectangular field for Georgia State's football team. The seating still looks very odd. I don't think moving FCD to Arlington is really a good move at this point, but when the XFL folds again a couple of years from now that's going to be a relatively nice stadium sitting empty in a prime location.
Plus, when they got the money from the City of Frisco for the NSHOF, they signed a new lease that locks them in at Toyota Stadium until the 2030s.
So did Bridgeview, didn't it? Not that it really is an argument because we know FCD is playing in Frisco and it's probably an equally good move as Arlington would be, but they COULD get out of it.
Yeah but what would Frisco become other than a high school football stadium with the US Soccer Hall of Fame in it? It would seem as stupid as putting the Baseball Hall of Fame in a remote Upstate New York Village, the Rock the Roll Hall of Fame in Ohio, or the Track and Field Hall of Fame in a Dominican neighborhood of New York City
If the fake news I've read is correct, it's $1M/yr until 2037. That's $17M. I know in HSG dollars that's a lot, but that's an extremely reasonable fee that goes down by $1M/yr. All that being said, this is HSG we're talking about. They already have a stadium and relatively cheap rent. Why would they move?
When the soccer hall of fame was in Oneonta, it was very close to the Baseball HOF (Cooperstown), and the Boxing HOF (Canastota). Not sure how that all happened. This is completely apropos of nothing, just found it interesting. I personally like the area, having grown up in Upstate New York near Rochester, though I didn't go east past the finger lakes that often.
