Welp, nothing to lose at this point. Playing with house money. Also got a hot Kobra coming back from his homeland all amped, so that can only help, right? Right?!? RIGHT?!!!? I hate Seattle, so losing to them (regardless of expectations) will always hurt.

Storybook set up FCD to grab an epic victory with the Cobra slithering in the rain for a game winner!. It can happen.
Prepared for the worst of course as we have seen this movie spool off into disappointment more times than I care to remember.

The only way that's possible is if we're leading late and then throw it all away in stoppage time or something.

After 18 minutes, this game is over. Do not give up! This oculd get far, far worse, and probably will.

Since 1996, I have begged this team to prove me wrong. Every year, they prove me right.

The hope is what kills you. Going into this I had lower than low expectations. When we went down 2-0, I rolled my eyes at the prospect of another blowout loss on the road. Then the fightback (twice). We had them where we wanted them and really should have won. Yet again, not really having a true difference maker on the pitch killed us. Acosta's decision making (apart from his goal) was atrocious, as usual.

Overall, I think the kids learned a lot from this one. Everyone looked pretty distraught at the final whistle and I think the pain will spur the core of this team on for 2020.

I also thought we were done and dusted a quarter into this one. Then a really valiant response, especially in the second half and extra time. Didn't advance in the end, but a lot to be optimistic about.

It was an interesting lineup with Cannon playing on the wing and Bressan taking his place in the back. Without Badji, I would have expected Mosquera, Ferreira, Pomykal, or even Hollingshead to get the start on the wing. But surprising choice to go with Cannon.

I now wish Acosta hadn't scored that screamer early in the season. He's been trying to recreate it without success ever since.

Not sure how many times I've said that this year.
I was in Canada, so I couldn't watch this one. I'm kind of glad. This game would have been torture to watch.

Looking back at this with a few days to think it over I still think basically choosing Bressan over Pomykal was a stupid decision. Bressan has not played very well all year and has at times fouled in really bad spots which can be death in games like this. He isn't very fast and got outrun several times. Cannon was ok at winger and even scored but I wish I could have seen Pomykal and Ferriera switching back and forth at the the attacking mid spot and left wing and Cannon back where he has always played. I think Luchi overthought it and even though he came close by thinking out of the box it was more odd thinking than genius thinking. So this only gets harder every year as the league keeps adding teams. If they ever add enough to split into two divisions FCD will be better candidates to drop than to win a title. of course they will still be a prospect churning machine. We can still watch all of our best youngsters go somewhere else and excel.

Of all their playoff games this year, the team that gave Seattle the toughest game was FCD. Another moral victory for us. Yay.

Who wants real victories when instead you can have moral victories? We are the kings of moral victories!

Total moral victory! We played the eventual winners the best in the playoffs! Just think if we'd had a really good left winger or #9 we might be champions but of course we haven't had those since Castillo and Blas left. maybe Pepi can become one but left wing is still a problem going into next year with no FCD kid in the immediate pipeline. Maybe Ferreira or Pomykal can play there and be better than the rotation of meh from last year.
