Yes. Use whatever word you like to describe it, I picked stolen. Check out the FSU thread here, even they say the referee handed them the game.

I don't think the UCLA and Stanford losses mean anything at all. Santa Clara was not going to lose last Thursday and UCLA just happened to be the opponent. Stanford ran into the soccer gods when they were throwing a tantrum. It happens.

Stanford gets UCLA at home but not USC. UVA has a tough one coming up at Penn State. It is going to be an interesting season.

Let me clarify my meaning and intent.
    1. The 2 PKs FSU got were bogus.
    2. The PK CU got was legit only if the ref is being really tight which this one was.
In most any ACC game I've seen over the past few years, that one is not called.
    3. I wouldn't use the term "stolen", because if FSU doesn't get the PK(s) that changes their urgency in the attack. An example would be our attack in the OT. 4-0 shots and the balled stayed in your half.
My point is that no one knows what would have happened w/o those calls. CU may well have won, but like shows with time travel that mess up the time line, we just don't know how it would have played out.
The ref didn't "hand us" the game, but he definitely changed it, and not in your favor.
    4. FSU was significantly better in midfield and run of play, but had difficulty with the final pass. To be fair, CU's defense played a large part in that.
    5. CU's Kornieck is a stud and extremely dangerous, especially on set plays.
The long throw in is also very dangerous.
    6. CU got ripped off not making the tourney last year. Barring a collapse, you have a very very good chance this year.
    7. CU will have a rough time beating any of the top 3 in the PAC, but not insurmountable. The problem is, unlike FSU, they each have elite 9s. FSU has very good players at most every spot except the 9.
    8. The depth in the PAC looks much better this year!

I won't quote the whole thing, but good points, all of them. I had not considered #3.

    I hope CP was watching.

So the only team with a perfect record going into conference play is ...

    drumroll please ...

    Oregon State.

Three West Coast Conference teams are playing ranked Pac-12 teams today. One down, two to go? Pepperdine and Washington State in Hawai'i, and Santa Clara hosting Stanford.

It must be cool to witness Portland improving under Michelle French and not passively watch her predecessor burn the program to the ground.

“Assisting” in college soccer has always been awful. Macario’s assist isn’t even that bad considering it actually came off of her foot. If you shoot and say it hits the crossbar and you finished the rebound, in college soccer the first striker will be credited with an assist. “Double assist” is also a dumb thing that only exist in college games.

btw though, it was at Santa Clara so they had no obligation to give it to her if they didn’t want to

The official game stats filed with the NCAA don't show Macario having any assists in this game, so it looks like whoever filed them got it right.

Big start to the Pac-12 this year
    Cal v UCLA
    STANFORD V USC
    COLORADO V ARIZONA
    UTAH V ASU
    WASH V OREGON
    WSU V OREGN STATE
Great slate to open the season. Big games in So Cal that potentially will determine the outcome of league champions

    Interesting weekend in the Pac-12
Stanford continues to just steamroll the competition but faces the Jekyll/Hyde Bruin side this weekend on a single game weekend. USC brings a high powered offense up to Cal with the hopes of getting back a few players off injury. Arizona heads to Utah in what could be a key match up. ASU clinging to life goes to Colorado. Washington at 4-1 in conference plays a big one vs an Oregon State side that is turning a lot of heads (kudos to their first year coach who has done miracles in Corvallis) and finally WSU takes on an Oregon team that comes off a blitz from Stanford. The Pac is IMO the best conference top to bottom this year. Wish more people would contribute to this thread

PAC 12 and ACC both can lay claim to who is the best.
The top 3 in each conference all have a good chance to make the CC.
I do believe the depth in the ACC is a little better.
Post season results will be a better barometer.

Post season results will not settle this debate. Most people are dyed in the wool on or the other. Personally I dont care !!

Middle group of the ACC is better than Pac’s, but bottom group in Pac is much better than ACC’s. If you’re talking from top to bottom, then Pac is better in my opinion. ACC is stronger from 1-8 but their bottom three are terrible. IMO, every single Pac schools are good enough to be in the NCAA tournament, but Pitt, Syracuse, and Miami no thank you

We do have threads for Colorado, Stanford and UCLA, but that leaves fans of nine other teams threadless.and until someone starts one for those teams, here's a place to share your two cents' worth with the rest of us.

I’m always checking scores but pac 12 is expensive package to buy, I got a months discount use but I had to cancel or fork over 35 dollars per month. I post mainly on the UCLA thread and try and attend as many home matches as possible. I’m super bummed we are playing Stanford at the farm again.

Single Game week in the Pac but some big ones
UCLA travels to the Farm to battle Stanford. This game will most likely determine the Championship in the Conference. Stanford wins and they own it. Lose and that bring USC and Washington into the picture. Should be a good one

USC travels to Cal, ASU to Colorado, Arizona to Utah, and the Washington’s head South to Oregon
It really is impressive how good the Pac is this year. Top to bottom every team is tournament worthy (yes I know that won’t happen just pointing out the quality across the board)
