It would have been nice if Grant Wahl had been like this when it really mattered. We needed a visible soccer journalist to show how broken US Soccer was before Sunil Lite was elected.

hey man, that was just a dig at the fact that Dest, because he never played in MLS and not 100% terrible, was moved to left back and basically told to get lost.

Agreed. We love to see him play and naturally blame Lamp for not playing him.

But to be fair, Lamp did start him 3 or 4 straight games before benching him. He got his chances early.

He just need to keep working and earn his chances again.

Hey Bobby W and Doyle at ML$, the guys really picking up the system huh?

Really learning the ins and outs of the Beerholder wishbone offense?

Any time Ream and Bradley and Lolvetz are in the lineup the answer is always, no, no one has learned anything.

Canada deserve the win tonight, no doubts. They played better than us.

I still think under the right coach, we have enough talents to win this game.

No one in their right mind would expect a quick fix.

But there won't be any 'fix' in place, if the current manager continues staying the course.

To start, this team needs a new leadership...a new manager.

Man, I feel soooooo bad for Pulisic! Wasn't there a time he was choosing whether or not to commit to US v. Croatia(?) and chose the US since he feels more American than Croatian(?)? Wonder how he feels now that he was in the Historic Teams which
    1) lost to TnT (so no World Cup 2018); and
    2) lost to Canada

But, like Taylor Twellman said during the broadcast, US is so, so, so lucky there's this CCL format to qualify for the World Cup since they probably wouldn't qualify under the old format...so sad to see how low USMNT has sunk.

If you think about it though, we win 7-2 in a head to head against countries in the western hemisphere that start with a "C". And that's pretty impressive.

    God, that was awful.

The thing is, I don't even think the "we just got our ass handed to us by a team that played a really good game" excuse is in play. Canada wasn't any better than we were. It's not like they were shoving the ball down our throat the entire match and we were just hanging on. I mean, this game was all-around terrible for both teams.

    Which may make it worse.

That was just po. P-O. That was so poor, we can't even afford the O-R.

I could care less about the tournament, its the fact we haven't improved at all since that loss and its been 2 years.

I'd love a Dutch manager or an Argentinian.

CP needs to get the F out of Chelsea. Anyone that knows anything about the EPL saw this coming a mile away. That league does not fit him! He’s a small framed guy who isn’t going to survive in that league. Not to mention, it was basically all about marketing to sign him. Is he the best American player we’ve ever had? Maybe... his form currently will put that to debate, but bottom line, the US does not have even close to a caliber of player that belongs on any top tier club! People were living in a fantasy world thinking that him going there was going to be good.....

Canada was not good, time and again I saw they leaving up to two of our guys completely unmarked in their area. They're lucky we don't have anyone with the passing accuracy to exploit those holes.

After all the years of careful academy development, MLS growth, etc., MNT has only declined. The days when our players and the program were scrappy, cobbled together underdogs competing against international opponents we supposedly had no business competing against are long gone. If anything, Canada’s current program is just a few key players away from where we used to be leading up to 2002.

Almeyda gets it. Love the comment he says about the MLS veteran guys... I agree with him 100% on pretty much his whole take. There really is a kind of lethargy at times which is cultural, but that should be fairly straightforward to fix with the right leadership. Unfortunately, it’s been difficult to displace the deep connections in the USSF and it’s board.

It's not sour grapes. That game was awful to watch. Horrible soccer from both sides. Can you honestly say that was a good performance from your team? So sloppy... Canada deserved to win and they were definitely better than the US. You have some really good players too, but the reality is the US played their worst game in many many years. Congrats on the win but, I think you're discounting how poor the USMNT team is right now. I mean our only convincing game under the Berhalter era is against Cuba a few days ago and even then we played like shit for over half the game. We are VERY bad right now....

    No.
He was eligible, but he never for a moment even considered Croatia. At least not that he ever vocalized. And he never even equivocated publicly.
