Delph has had to withdraw from the squad. Might increase the chances of Winks playing.

I heard that Southgate wasn’t going to replace Delph ... makes no sense on ANY level tbh

I think Gomez would do well to make noises about moving. I'm sure City would love to have him.

Because England pick larger squads in the first place in anticipation of some players dropping out

But it will play on the minds of the fringe players.. especially given all the media speculation..

If this is the only reason i can say "Let him go!". I don't think it would be a great loss if Tomori chooses Nigeria, he would be much more useful there than for the 3 Lions where there any many better options. As for Abraham i think he would choose Nigeria only if he realizes he won't have any chance for England, so i think you shouldn't worry about this possibility.

As I said, if having one poor game means we throw people under the bus, we might as well give up on ALL our defenders because they've all had them at one time or another.

I mean, literally ALL of them.

Tomori is now commited to england which is good. Hope Abraham can follow suit

Mate, there’re both in the Squad and delighted to be there. How much more committed can they be? You’re being extremely insecure about all this which is a bit over the top to be honest.

Absolutely fully behind this if this is the action they want to take! UEFA have not been arsed about racist abuse now for far too long.

I'm not behind it at all. They're multimillionaire footballers, they should be well above whatever some random Bulgarian peasant shouts from the crowd. If anything all this does in incentivise the Bulgarians to shout racist abuse and collect their free 3-0 win.

Was going to say the same thing. Say we are 5-0 up with 10 minutes to go. Are they really going to walk off if theres monkey chants? On the other hand if we are losing 2-0 i would get on a plane on personally start them off to get the game abandoned

You can't be serious. No one, regardless of how much money they earn, should have to put up with that. I'm fully behind the team. Nice to see we are backing our black players unlike other countries.

Not really a fan of this group punishment thing. If it's the whole stadium then by all means walk off. If it's just a small section then pressurize UEFA/law enforcement to utilise technology and punish the individuals responsible.

I think there's a logical void between 'they shouldn't have to put up with that' and 'they should forfeit the game'. And frankly, it's moronic to put this kind of thing out into the media in any case. Even if this doesn't incentivise Bulgarian fans to oblige, it'll certainly infuriate the Bulgarian players whose nation has just effectively been slandered as a home of racists.

Ok, but you know why this has come up, right?

"...racism fears have been sparked by the behaviour of the Bulgaria support in the qualifiers against the Czechs and Kosovo in June. As punishment, Bulgaria’s Stadion Vasil Levski has been partially closed for the next two internationals, one of which is the England game."

    How does ‘partially’ work ??

Racists not allowed in for those two games ? :)

This is the whole point though, that’s what they keep doing but nothing changes.

The most high profile side in Europe walking off mid game may actually spur on some real change so that we might finally have a generation of black players who can have a career without being abused.

Non-football problems require non-football solutions. It is for Bulgarian society to address this issue, not a group of English footballers. We cannot presume to be the arbiters of moral certitude either, it's not like we don't have our own idiots.

So long as society is conditioned to be traumatised by racial slurs, so long as tens of thousands of people have that weapon in their back pocket in moments of extreme emotion, there will never be a generation of black footballers who have a career without ever being racially abused. The only people who don't suffer from racial abuse are people who can't suffer form racial abuse.
