A start would be every red, pen, or controversial disallowed goal means the ref must check VAR. A couple of weeks ago he blew a pen which turned out to be a total joke but because he blew and pointed straight to the spot he didnt want to even consider VAR. Every time a big decision like that is called him going to the screen makes him 100% accountable and it takes out the guessing from his in play call. That would be the change I would go with until season end and monitor how that goes and see from there. I also thinks its about time ref's should be interviewed after the game and be made answer for their performance in front of the camera.
This deserves a special Just pure lies that will inflame the situation. They deserve ridiculed into the ground for how they have handled this.
Nonostante i giornalisti di #skysport dicano che l'arbitro #massa fischi subito il fallo, dalle immagini è evidente che l'arbitro ripeta ai cagliaritani che lo scontro sia stato fortuito e che quindi non è fallo. #RomaCagliari pic.twitter.com/st84zpOmbj— Federico Fornaro (@fedefo22) October 6, 2019 Massa clearly never whistled for a foul. Serie A lying once again. #ASRoma director of sport Gianluca Petrachi was furious with the referee after a last-gasp goal against #Cagliari was disallowed. “It’s absurd! In England, they’ll laugh at us.” https://t.co/4ljWo6njMV #RomaCagliari #SerieA pic.twitter.com/UMmAEEGtz9— Football Italia (@footballitalia) October 6, 2019 Petrachi preaching. The amount of soft calls that get called in Italy are embarrassing. Then when you see an Italian vs English team play in Europe the Italian team gets bullied around because they are so used to the embarrassing fouls that are called in Italy.
As soon as I saw Massa was refereeing today I knew there would be a poorly refereed game. His games often end in acrimony and chaos. On another note I think teams like Cagliari are helping to lower the appeal of Serie A. Constant diving, fouling and gamesmanship, too often indulged by Serie A referees, not to mention poor quality play - their pass completion rate was very low today - make games unappealing to watch.
Is this really a team that should be doing any better though? This off-season was complete damage control and I would say we are right where we should be in the standings. We aren’t close to being a team that should be in a better position in the table. Do you really think EDF’s Roma would have scored late against bologna? Or even hold the tie against Cagliari today? And also stick up for his team at the end of the game by getting into the face of the ref ? The whole mentality has changed with Fonseca in a good way imo. And the fact that you’re even doubting him now is poor mentality. I think he’s the right man for the job right now and has ideas.
Maybe if he was more concerned with leading Serie A towards better monetization of its TV rights or scrutiny of referee decisions instead of racism and global warming and nuclear energy and mysoginy, maybe just maybe he wouldn't have looked like a fool now, doing is quarterly "I'm as outraged as the fans, brrrrr!" routine. We're spending top 4 in transfer fees and salaries. Every season where we're out of top 4 is a failure of goals + steps vs results. We didn't have to rely on Fonseca or EDF. There are coaches who cost more than a 2nd hand car who can get the most out of a team like ours, but we're not hiring them. Say that we've lucked with Fonseca, for arguments sake, the team's defensive abilities are non-existed where they should be at least mediocre all things considered, so that's a failure. And our attack hinges on Zaniolo or Pellegrini having a day, or being on the pitch. So all in all - we're betting too much on too little. I don't have to like that or accept it, especially when it obviously fails to deliver results. I'd be glad to be proven wrong, but so far we're just trying to pretend that this isn't Zemanlandia 2.0
To be honest I don't think I've seen Fonseca do anything to demonstrate that he's a good coach, just seems to be the same thing different year, of course it is too early to tell though so we need to give him a chance. In terms of this squad it's pretty poor, very little real quality and for me it's not a squad you think is guaranteed top 4. If we get top 4 this year we should be grateful
the shadow figure making the decision leaves room for people to complain about the fix being in the referee on the pitch making the decision leaves room for him to make the wrong call or uphold the wrong call due to pressure from the stands. Maybe not in Roma where we fill half the seats but at a club with a more animalistic crowd?
I don't remember the cagliari player, but the yellow he gives for the foul on Dzeko early in the game is embarrassing for the league. But then towards the end of the game, he allows play to continue when Veretout knocks (Pedro, iirc) to the ground from the side/behind. There is zero consistency. Soccer is a contact sport. You can have contact without fouling and fouling without yellows. It seems Serie A has lost these distinctions.
Maybe we should have a time out and a safe space zone just in case he receives those boes? If a ref doesn't have the character to make the correct call because he might get booed then he doesn't deserve to be on the pitch refereeing does he? Its how you make it 100% black and white. If your example is the case and the ref is a coward. They should be brought down hard on and sent to Serie B or lower for a period of the season. Much like a suspension of a player. If you want to improve the quality and consistency of decisions then this is the way to do so.

Fonseca raging is so roma. That was def me mid 2000’s so I’m kinda for it, weirdly enough lol. These games we usually lose imo. Meh. Another 2 more injured players. At this point wtf do we do??

Let's just be a crap team, not a crap team that complains about the ref for not cheating in our favor.
