I know, I know, it's too early to start a thread for a Sunday match, but I wanted to "copyright" my offensive nickname for the other Ohio team before someone else thought of it. I originally went with "Odor," but "Ordure" is even more disgusting. Oh, and apologies to one of my heroes, George Washington, who founded the Order of the Cincinnati, for which the city was named. Yes, Cincinnati is dead last in the division, but they have a win and two ties in their last three matches, and have nothing to lose and a lot to gain with a good performance here. We will be without Rooney, and I am concerned that Hamid's hammy may be acting up. It was clearly bothering him late in the Jersey match, but we were out of subs. I emailed Goff asking about Bill's condition, and he told me we wouldn't know until Wednesday's practice. So, all you who are going to the practice let the rest of us know if Hamid seems OK. If I were Ben and Bill wasn't fully fit I would sit him and let Seitz keep this match so as not to aggravate the injury. In other words, victory is not assured. We need the win to qualify for a home playoff match (I think). Lineup: If Kamara is fit (he was a late scratch for Jersey) he should go up front. Otherwise, we may see Amerikwa. Benny probably will stick with Rodriguez; Arriola; and Segura behind the striker, although I would like to see if giving Acosta a start wouldn't kindle a spark in him. Then the usual suspects (Felipe; Moreno; Mora; Birnbaum; Brillant; and Canouse) behind them. In goal: ?
Nats game will start an hour after the DCU game... Hope Metro is prepared. At least they are staggered by an hour. Will anyone go to both games?
Nats game is scheduled for 7:45 PM. DC United won't wrap up til 6:25 or so. Predictions as to how many United fans lose their parking spot on Sunday?
My parking is guaranteed ... but what a shit show its going to be getting out of there and on top of that we have that man of the match meet and greet.
Let's hope so. Since I plan on going to both games, I'm likely just going to cancel my parking and use Metro to get there and catch a ride home with a friend going to the baseball game. However, I would think most people's parking (like, say, anyone who parks at Lot H/I, or in one of the garages by the Navy Yard Metro) will be at risk, since I am sure those lots will give priority to Nationals fans who they can charge $50+ to.
So ESPN is now showing an 8:37 opening pitch for the Nats. Getting there will not be bad at all for a 4/4:25 start. Prolly jacks up my egress more since I am sticking around afterwards for the MOTM thing.
My bad, I was totally in soccer mode, like 1, maybe 2 games in a week. Completely spaced on that one.
So, Spothero shows the H/I Lot and the 1323 S Capitol Lot available (for $75!!!) starting at 5:45 PM on Sunday. They show the lot at 1880 2nd St SW (for $65!!!) starting at the same time. Good luck, United fans, who park in those lots.
FYP. WIth a loss or a draw we still have a chance if the Pink Cows and Toronto ***k up - but a win guarantees 4th place and a home game.
If you're going to the game on Sunday, WEAR BLACK. WEAR YOUR BLACK GEAR‼️SUNDAY IS THE BLACKOUT 🚨 🔥: https://t.co/4T6r9xRU10 pic.twitter.com/Q8QIDayXzW— D.C. United (@dcunited) October 4, 2019
I could have gotten tickets to the Nats game, but can't got. Coincidentally, my wife is in Cincinnati this weekend, and the babysitter can't stay for the Nats game.
The way everything else has worked this season, I fully What other color would you possibly wear to a United game?
Big game tomorrow. I hope they are intense from the start and pushing forward, against the worst defense in the league. This is a game that Acosta could really do well in, perhaps Ben will give him the nod and sit Segura. Otherwise, Amerikwa is up top (though I'd rather see Kamara if he's healthy) and the rest remains the same.
If the team keeps their focus, it should win without a fuss. But they won't, and it won't be until near the end. Maybe 2-0.
