Not that it will help, but maybe our owners will manage to complain if the league's mistreatment drives our four-year-plan coach away after one season.
complaining to the league once he's gone sounds like a complete waste of time, our owners have to sweeten the pot, money talks, make him a serious offer...and, put together a real budget for players. As with everything in Quakesland, this will be fishers call.
He basically says he is happy when his name is mentioned because he respects the Mexican league and the players he’s managed but nothing more.
If Almeyda leaves what are the chances Espinoza would stay? My guess is a zero percent chance unless we give him and his club a very large pile of money. So basically a zero percent chance. Hopefully Wondo would stay. I think Almeyda will stay because why bother giving a warning to the league if you know your leaving anyway.
Maybe Fisher doesn't want to be fined $100k, like Merritt Paulson was, for criticizing the officiating. MLS has very effective ways of ensuring a conspiracy of silence about the fact the officiating is erratic and uneven.
What are the chances Espinoza doesn't already independently share the same perspective: "F*ck MLS"? He's repeatedly mugged with impunity because he's not a a "star." Meanwhile he gets reds for the same things done to him without consequence. It's demoralizing, and players and coaches with options won't stand for it for very long. I'm sure they're just losers making excuses. Yeah, that's the ticket.
Well your argument certainly won me over. I’m sure now that it was the refs that caused the Quakes to miss all 23 shots they took against Seattle.
I wasn't trying to win you over. I was ranting because I am angry about injustice. (Sincerely sorry if you took it personally). And I don't believe I've said the Seattle game was poorly officiated. Instead, I've said repeatedly that some, not all, games appear to be fixed. I was okay with the red card to Tommy because @JohnJussen, standing next to me in the Ultras section, called it before the ref did. And I called the re-spot outside the box for Hoesen's take-down before the official did, as John may remember. What's your non-conspiratorial explanation for the reversal of the PK in the Philly game?
My honest opinion was that VAR was too intrusive in that game. If you’re rolling with conspiracy, why did VAR ask Baldo to review for Philly red card in the first half? That doesn’t seem consistent with your theory that the Quakes were not going to be allowed to win/tie.
I considered that. The first half VAR review was of no consequence since nothing was changed, and of course it did not benefit the Quakes. However, it does serve as a deflection to cover one's tracks if as the VAR official you intend to hold in your back pocket a later VAR review that actually impacts the game adversely for the Quakes. And, by the way, my theory is not that the Philly game was necessarily fixed, merely that there appears to be no non-conspiratorial explanation for the PK reversal. Of course, another poster has now offered such an explanation, but it is not complimentary of the ref.
October 1 marked the centennial of the Black Sox scandal. https://www.elevenwarriors.com/foru...40/100th-anniversary-of-the-black-sox-scandal
I’ve been as frustrated as anyone about the calls that go against the Quakes but if the players are getting themselves into the same mindset that the fans are at, they might as well skip the flight and give Portland the forfeit. It’s up to the coach to give them (and himself) the proper psychology. Twice Almeyda has gotten himself ejected and both times the team folded like a cheap pup tent after his exit. What would happen if a Portland player walks up to Wondo in the warm ups and says “wow man, so sorry to hear MLS doesn’t want you guys in the playoffs. I didn’t believe it myself until I overheard today’s officials talking about it in the tunnel. I feel kind of bad they’re going to do you like that.”
Someone should tweet Portland's owner and say it's only $50k to bribe the officials, and then you don't get charged $100k by the league for complaining about them.
Report from @espnsutcliffe that Almeyda will be returning to Mexico with Monterrey. Difficult situation. Most coaches would want to listen to @Rayados (arguably the most rounded club in North Am - stadium, $, players, youth system). Almeyda's biggest game in MLS is on Sun. https://t.co/rqGoxIytZA— Tom Marshall (@mexicoworldcup) October 3, 2019
Either we spend more money to get better players or find a really good coach. Doing neither will become another 2018 season. Fans can't go through that shitshow again.
Great, one year and they’re out... can’t really blame them. While other teams were spending big bucks on DPs, Jesse and cheapskate Fisher added scraps like Fierro that did nothing to improve the team. I see the Quakes imploding... And I'll be there to see it... And then I'm going to call my rep and cancel my season tickets. (maybe)
If this is true – and I hope it's not – San Jose have huge shoes to fill. A few options if it comes to that:• current assistant coach Benjamin Galindo• Reno head coach Ian Russell• Racing head coach Eduardo Coudet https://t.co/lo3cUMrWD0— Matthew Doyle (@MattDoyle76) October 3, 2019 A great shout here as well.https://t.co/P7h2VSNqgE— Matthew Doyle (@MattDoyle76) October 3, 2019
