Inter should’ve been up by 4 at half time. Two world class finishes by the rat, there’s the difference.
Also half the pass efficiency, less shots on target, less the half the ball possession. Pretty much absorbing all pressure and playing on the counter. Conte really thought he'd bring Mourinho's early 2000s playlist to the party and people would vibe to it.
Who cares. Not many teams are going in there against Barca and winning the possession battle plus shots on target. Finishing let them down. Inter were totally blitzed in the second half though, not even close.
For me giving up control of the match is never perfect. Relying on the opponent not being able to break you down over 90 minutes is one hell of a gamble.
This isn’t the Barca board which you so frequently get bored of. Lmao. That kind of comment is an instaban there, gotta drink the kool-aid. Inter played as expected, boring as hell and they lost in the end because when you play that deep and allow that many shots on goal, one or more will eventually get in.
Saurez was practically on his knees when the contact happened, I don't see it as a penalty. He wasn't going anywhere but down due to his positioning.
And Suarez continues to score his golazos.. He could suck in away games but oh man.. some of the goals he scores at Camp Nou are really impressive
Man, he hasn't scored in 15 UCL games before this, last one being against Celtic at home in 2016. Not even to mention the away from home situation. In UCL:Benz >>> Suarez
He's still got the best cooperation ability with Messi, that keeps him in the lineup for an eternity. They find each other with their eyes closed. Also about Messi, it will be interesting to see where he'll be at 34 (Ronaldo's current age). Injury or not, he's just not as athletic any more. 2 years ago when he was breaking away there was no catching up to him, now his acceleration isn't really a worry. His skill is 100% there, but even last season vs Liverpool, he doesn't press any more the way he did, neither does he turn on the turbo the way he did. We were left without Ronaldo from one day to another but it feels like Messi will retire at Barca so it's interesting to see how it will all develop with him swallowing wages that enormous while obviously declining.
He scored vs Liverpool 1st leg. But yeah, he has been poor in scoring in CL past 3 seasons ... home or away, small or big games.
I appreciate where you're coming from, but I'm not sure I agree. Conte was relying on his team's own qualities (in Inter's case, amongst others their defensive organization, intensity over the field and corresponding counter capabilities) and tried to utilize them in the best way possible (he succeeded for at least 45 minutes). I'd say - considering your view - that it's as much of a gamble to 'try and play football' with Barca at the Camp Nou. If we turn it around — would you consider Barca relying on Messi or Suarez's individual moments also one hell of a gamble?
