The final score is: 0 - 1 GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G P.S. = Please don't post results of other soccer (including MLS) games and other sports' games in this thread until at least 24 hours after they've ended.
In the end, it was still a much better season than last year. With nearly a full season of observance, I'm sure that Matías Almeyda and his coaching staff have a much clearer idea of what they currently have in the roster and where upgrades need to be made in the offseason. Let's hope that ownership will now be more open to trying to get the players Almeyda would want to bolster the roster's starting lineup and depth. Let's also hope that Tom Fox can finally get decent jersey sponsors (both on the chest area and on the sleeve) before next season begins, as well as a new paying sponsor for the stadium naming rights. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
One more game left to maybe pull it back? We attacked all game, then some how lose. Forwards stand around like muppets, instead of making runs, then we cross it to arguably one of the better goalkeepers in the league when it comes to crosses and corners. Every other fking team does exactly what we needed them to do, and we choke.
We've lost 5 in a row. AND WE STILL CONTROL OUR OWN DESTINY. The team has not been playing poorly, maybe not as well as in the summer, but nothing like the hopeless shambles from 2018. They certainly have been short on luck. I still believe in this squad. I believe they have the ability and the strength to take the 3 points they need in Portland. Let's go Quakes!
This team needs one person in the FO to stand up to the Czars of MLS and tell them to quit their fanboy adoration of the flavor of the month, and support all the team, in the league I write this because the next flavors of the month are Nashville, Austin, and Miami. I am more than pissed off, on how these dopes in the league office act and fawn over the new “flagships” of the league. Tom Fox, you need to quit being happy with your status and you need to be a voice the SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES! Now! FFS.
despite my optimism, let me be fair: we've been outscored 11-2 in the 2nd half in august and september. Simple as, that's not good enough.
I’m sick and tired of MLS treating this team, like San Jose was the walnut producer for the world (which it was, at one time) and accept that there is a friggin MLS team in San Jose that deserves the same amount attention as the teams in the other major urban areas of the country. San Jose is the center of Silicon Valley, FFS, and deserves better.
Even if we make the playoffs. We are going to play away. We suck away. If we sneak in it’s going to be 5-0 again like at Vancouver
The referees in PRO, need to become more professional, not less. Chris Penso, you need to return to reffing U-6 games. That way you can deal with the parents and not have to keep score or show anyone a card of the yellow or red variety. FFS.
Wrong, we haven't been blown out since LAFC and that was controversial. This team can go toe-to-toe with anyone.
BTW, where is markmfc? Hope I didn’t miss any sad news. I met him once and we watched a timbers game in 2008, when they were still in the A-League, v. Cleveland.
I want to take a moment to apologize to other posters on these forums, for me allowing the passion and fervor I feel for our team, which overcame my rational thoughts, to come out. After the teams disastrous start, the team turned it around. We were all elated, hell the team was in 2nd place in the standings, at one point, in this season. I think every person that posts here is as passionate as I am, about the Quakes. I think it’s time our voices are heard. There’s a saying in Texas (and the South), “Bless your heart”. The time is now, we stop saying that and stand up and be heard.
And the czars of MLS will tell that person in Quakes FO: "Spend some ********ing money, patch up the holes in your stadium roof, put a damn skin on it, and then you can talk."
Until the owner of the team treat his fans and his own team the right way, MLS has no need to treat him right.
Well I thought we were eliminated, but i guess not. Everyone in my area was saying season farewells to each other. I’d rather we not be in limbo another week cuz tonight’s loss was so utterly painful and 2 bad losses in 4 days is too much for my psyche. I dunno I’m just despondent right now. And my tin foil hat didn’t work. 1178452608240910336 is not a valid tweet id
It's tough on us all, Mary Jane. But we are black and blue, we are San Jose, and come next week, we're gonna be Saturday's Heroes! In retrospect, this season has had higher highs and lower lows than almost any in a very long time. It's been a crazy roller coaster ride, but there's one more turn left, and who knows how it's gonna end! I'm going to be in the Midwest next Sunday, so I don't know if I'll get a chance to see the Portland game, but I sure hope we go out with a bang and not a whimper.
Well, San Jose be Portland is indeed the first playoff game of the season. Except, we have to win. All of the eggs I’m the basket next week. Lima right, Salinas left. Attempt to kill with speed
Another positive note: At least this year's Earthquakes won't even come close to winning the MLS Wooden Spoon after having won it last year. That's in complete contrast to the last time the team won it (2008) and then almost won it again with an even worse record the following season (only the New York Red Bulls' historically bad 2009 season prevented a consecutive Wooden Spoon win). GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
