Asensio can’t really move with the ball nor feint like Rodrygo does. He has a potent shot and had already played one season in la liga if I am not mistaken with Espayol.
Asensio came on for us and was nailing teams, that shot was otherwordly. When we signed him, Bayern's then sporting director Reschke wrote a text message to JAS congratulating him.
Yes I remember that but as I said besides his shot his technique was limited in other areas - at least to me they were - I think you need a bigger bag of tricks in other areas in order to become a successful forward for Real Madrid and not just have an otherworldly shot. This is the reason why he was lost playing 90 mins.
We don't really have a picture of Rodrygo playing 90 minutes against top opposition. I'm not saying he can't become a legend, an incredible player or whatever, but as soon as he scored that goal, it was obvious that people would lose their mind despite there being more reasons for caution than excitement at this point.
There is a huge gap and a ton of players between a player the level of Asensio and a legend. I don’t know if anyone here has already jumped the gun and said Rodrygo will become a legend of this club.
No, but seeing the forum that makes fun of calling players like Delle Ali and Rashford trash and overhyped, I find it humorous that people project so much on Rodrygo despite such a tiny sample size at the highest level.
Yea that’s totally what we’re doing by asking that he gets more minutes at the expense of a player that really doesn’t add much besides work rate, a very accurate description of what’s going on here no doubt.
Because Hazard, Bale and Benzema will play and behind them are Vini and LV. That means he would not play at all so it is better for him to get minutes and play wit Castilla. Good call, because it will be a tough match.
We're going to take it slow with him similarly to how we incorporated Vinicius last year. No need for outrage
Alberto Bueno also scored a golazo on his Real Madrid debut, and he was considered our biggest talent along with Mata from Castilla. Most of yall forgot who he is or havent even heard of him, clearly his career hasnt worked out the way we all expected it to. Rodrygo looks really smooth and polished, but we should still manage the expectations on him. Its takes a lot of mental strength to succeed here as a player despite the criticism, and it takes even more to succeed here as a youngster despite the hype and adulation.
It can or it can go to Rodrygo, Vinie is getting good minutes despite Lucas’ involvement, besides Rodrygo is more comfortable on the right than Vinie is. Vini as Hazard’s back up and Rodrygo comes off the bench for Bale.
The same time last year, I was saying that VJ was about to explose. I really admired his "raw" talent at his given age. "I know he will suddenly become a superstar," I said to myself. However, the key words were "raw" talent and "about to explose". Rodrygo, I felt, is more composed than VJ a year ago. And VJ was playing against weaker teams in CDR and La Liga (I actually do not remember). It might even be later in the season than October, 2018. But yet I do not know which would become the better player.
Vinicius' football IQ is so low. His decision making is Sunday league level. Meanwhile Rodrygo was always praised for being mature and having mature decision making. For some reason or another Rodrygo was pretty much always considered the better talent.
I prefer what I see from Rodrygo so far, but both are young players with time to improve, I don’t recall this though
