Thought I should check in with old Iron81/Don4Fire, to make sure he's okay. How could you leave out the crowning achievement of the Andrew Hauptman Chicago Fire - the only back to back Wooden Spoon winners in the history of MLS?
So, @skinut, do you close this thread or do you leave it open a wee bit longer to allow everyone to bathe in the good news a while longer?
I added that but thought I had made my point and removed it. Your post stands that it has been corrected (I cannot edit my original post).
According to the whispers, yes. When? Not before the end of the season. Pretty sure we're going to have a full NFL-style Black Monday coming soon.
So if the reported sale of $204 million for the remaining 51% and say it was $200 for 49% last year. That's a total of $404 million, man this asshole made out pretty well for a $35 investment. Well he only got half of that, that's still pretty good for doing absolutely NOTHING for 12 years. Don't let the door HIT you on the way out........
“What the Fire has achieved has been transformational for the club and the city of Chicago,” Hauptman said in a statement. “We’ve significantly increased soccer’s presence and built an ecosystem that rivals any club across North America. I’m extremely proud of the positioning of the club at this historic juncture. I know that the next step of returning to Soldier Field will make Chicago proud and I look forward to cheering on Joe, the club and its supporters as they continue this legacy.” This guy is fvcking delusional.......
I so wanted to post this quote, but did not want to spoil the jubilant mood. I mean what he "achieved" has been "transformational" for the Fire. He transformed the Fire from a powerhouse in MLS to barely an afterthought. He transformed us from a fandom of "you all suck, we won the double in our first year, win the US Open every other year and [almost] always make the playoffs" to "we suck, rubber dick, malort, raccoon, something stupid will happen" (well, that last one is on Paunovic).
CHICAGO FIRE FRONT OFFICE STAFF Management Joe Mansueto Owner and Chairman, Chicago Fire Soccer Club Chairman, Morningstar, Inc. #HauptmanIsOut
Since acquiring the Chicago Fire in 2007, Hauptman has made extensive investments in the first team, while also establishing deep roots across the Chicagoland community. Under his leadership, the Club built the CIBC Fire Pitch, a north side community center which serves 300,000 visitors annually and introduced Chicago Fire Rec Soccer programming for adults, which now has 20,000 participants. Additionally, the Club formed the Chicago Fire Academy, a full scholarship program for Chicago’s elite youth players and expanded the Chicago Fire Juniors program, with 11 Clubs across six states, and 16,000 players participating year-round. For its commitment and ambitious stewardship, the Club has repeatedly been recognized for its community work, having most recently won the 2019 ESPN Sports Humanitarian Team of the Year award. In 12 years as owner this is what they say about him: 1.Built the CIBC Pitch, which had NOTHING to do with the team. We used it what once or twice a year? 2.Formed Chicago Fire Academy 3.2019 ESPN Sports Humanitarian Team of the year 4.Recognized for it's community work What about: Winning MLS CUP Winning USOC Winning the SS Making the playoffs Making the CCL Under his leadership we have qualified for the playoffs (kind of, they were play in games) TWICE .Not counting the 2008-09 season, because he had nothing to do with those two years, I believe it was after the 2009 (2010 season) that he said that he's going to get more involved in the day to day operations of the team. Well we all know how that has gone. 2010.....We finished 10th out of 16 teams.....No Playoffs 2011.....We finished 11th out of 18 teams......No Playoffs 2012.....We finished 6th out of 19 teams.......Got to play in the play in game, but lost 2013.....We finished 12th out of 19 teams......No Playoffs 2014.....We finished 15th out of 19 teams......No Playoffs 2015.....We finished 20th out of 20 teams......No Playoffs, we did get our 1st trophy under his leadership. Wooden Spoon 2016......We finished 20th out of 20 teams......No Playoffs, we repeated as Wooden Spoon winners (back to back first time that's ever happened). 2017......We finished 3rd out of 22 teams.......Got to play in the play in games, but lost (We all know how that went) 2018......We finished 20th out of 23 teams......No Playoffs 2019......We are currently 21st out of 24 teams....No Playoffs
i checked my phone and saw the headline and my jaw hit the floor. my brain could not even calculate that this was happening and i couldn't wait to get home and see the story. friday the 13th- good day for the chicago fire.
His name should never be uttered or typed or even thought of again by any Chicago Fire fan. He should not be referred to even as a cautionary tale or in a story to scare children. He should simply be consigned to oblivion.
