Dont forget folks, Argentines live off of football - literally. This is why they do well in all categories. I have lived in South America and have seen it first hand. The football culture in South America does not compare not even in Europe (have lived there as well). I cannot pinpoint it but whether its a local match or club, the Argentines have this spirit in football not found elsewhere. Football is all that SA countries have going for them. Argentina is a football player exporting machine. Mexico is in boxing/combat sports what Argentine is in football in the international level.
It wasn't Osorio. If Martino doesn't realize that Mexico isn't good enough to go toe to toe against better rivals, they will do shit like this game and the Germany CC game we had in 2017. It was almost a copy of that Jesus Ramirez friendly too. That being said the Araujo game was unexcusable. For all the shit we said about the spazzos and the US game, Mexico did exactly what they criticized Bernhalter and the US team of doing, keep playing over and over a failed strategy with 2 players fvcking everything up.
Seems like we always have something tragic happen when we play a big team in one of those litmus test games. Could they have scored 4 on us any other time. Sure.....but nobody expected the game over in 30 minutes and like that. Horrible horrible defensive lapses.
I have all the confidence in the world Tata will take away all the right lessons from an amistoso like this one unlike his predecessor. People are going to draw all sorts of conclusions from one shite friendly instead of looking at the entire body of work this year.
Switch to Futbol Picante boys. This fighting has made me less furious about the match today. Dude just called Faitelson a druggie lmao.
No doubt that the Mexican media is going to EXPLODE but this is one of those nights where nothing goes right. A little bit of everything. I do think a conflict of interest exists. Come on, nobody is saying Mexico is dusting off shelf space to make room for the World Cup championship trophy but come on, you go from averaging 3 goals a game to 0 shots on target? "Me siento argentino..." is what Tata said. Conflict of interest are ethically wrong and in the US, illegal.
Portuguese pussy must be amazing, because when he was at Porto, he was decent. Pretty great for a season actually 728977460809728000 is not a valid tweet id
We can all agree that Layun, araujo are worthless no business being part of our starting squad or bench. Herrera no business being a starter he is way past his prime, he was an average player at Porto, atletico is just using him for squad depth because of his experience but never going to be starter. Salcedo good enough for our bench not starter. Center back positions no one should really owns those spots, no convincing center back at the moment for me.
The 4-0 scoreline, while embarrassing, isn’t what bothers me What bothered me was the amateurish level of play shown by our backline, primarily Layun, Salcedo, and especially Araujo How a team can put 4 past you in a span of 20-30 min After that 1st goal, rather than fix the mid and have the fullbacks actually remain in the back defending it’s almost as if they all panicked and went on the attack which just made things worse Unlike Osorio, Tata luckily re-adjusted the team for the second half but we needed another striker in there to help out Raul. Perhaps putting in Chicharito for either Tecatito or Chucky would have been ideal. Hopefully we have more friendlies against top teams like Argentina. Win or lose, these types of games should serve as a learning experience for the coach and players
that is not the reason why mexico lost, its just simply pointing out what someone else posted earlier. Mexico lost cause they didnt score more goals but its not only Araujos fault or this player or that player, its a collective effort by the team. No pressure, giving the ball away, chingos de open spaces, not running enough,
I think the mistake we did was attacking with everyone and sending our fullbacks to attack. We aren't playing against the US, where we can make mistakes defensively as good teams have good attackers. I think what Tata did in the second half was a good sign of a manager. Instead of taking out players and trying to blame the mistakes on them, which they clearly were. He left them in there and adjusted the formation. It looked like he went to a 4-2-1-3. He pulled Herrera back along Alvarez and gave Argentina the respect they deserve. We clearly need to play against top teams with talented forwards. There's no one in Concacaf that will challenge our defense like he South American teams can do.
Layun played as a LB and then got benched the season right after that because he couldn't defend. Same thing happened at Sevilla and Villareal. Layun is average at best attacking and was never a good defender. We think too much about offense when we think about fullback when in reality what they should excel in is defense.
reality is we tried to go toe to toe against a better offensive team and attempted to play an attacking role when we should have played a defensive game followed by counter attacks. like some people on here have said, im sure tata will learn from this game. He realized how trash Mexican defense truly is lol.
More than the US, I think Martino, just like Osorio did in the Confederations Cup, saw his opportunity with Argentina being a B team and went all out in attack and we paid dearly for it when Araujo became pure shit. I mean that 2nd and 4th goal were insane. Mexico isn't a good enough team to go all out toe to toe against even a B team Argentina. I mean he went with Corona and Lozano like people had been asking and I think that's the reason. He went for it big and paid dearly when Araujo and Salcedo showed their deflating balloon level of play.
Here is a lesson for you young ones on here. Be weary when Mexico is playing well, because a very bad result is looming. Also, when Mexico is in the dumpster they are still capable of pulling a result out of their ass. The eternal Jekyll and Hyde
This is the reason why Osorio dropped Aguilar. He had used him as an example of a guy who didn't defend well and wanted to attack on a tv show and then the Chile game happened. Unfortunately people in Liga MX didn't see how bad he was until now but it was just like Salcido, where it should have been obvious a long time ago (and the reason he never returned to the NT post JCO).
We joke about people getting all worked up about friendlies and yet here we are lol there isn’t always a rhyme and reason to our futbol and we need to take these sort of nights in stride. We lose by goleada to a 2nd or 3rd division German club and then advance to the final 16 of a World Cup and be a point blank miss away from our beloved striker that would have had us advancing to quarters after playing the actual German national team lol No pasa nada. Martino is a fine manager. The sky isn’t falling comrades.
