Interesting day for the Dutch. Today the company in which all the Eredivisie clubs are united will anounce who won the bid for the Dutch broadcasting rights to next season's eredivisie games. After 30 years of NOS Studio Sport (the public broadcasting organisation's footy programme) it is expected that John de Mol, one of the world's richest media moguls known particularly for Big Brother, will win the bid. Positive about this is that the Eredivisie will get more money than ever. Some television viewers however fear that John de Mol is too commercial - NOS Studio Sport is almost an institution in the Netherlands.

I personally think it'd be a good thing to see Studio Ajax come to an end. They've become far too smug of late. What do you think?

I can't decide who I hate the most, Mart Smeets, Jack van Gelder, or Hugo Borst. I think it's Jack van Gelder.

I Agree that Studio sport can be called 'Studio Top 3' sometimes (they don't favor Ajax only, PSV and Feyenoord get equal attention).

But do you think it will be better with John de Mol???? He is all about making money and, like it or not, most people at home are interested in the top 3....
I think we will see even less of the other clubs on Nickelodeon

Only positive thing might be that we don't have to watch Mart Smeets again, he despises all sports except Basketball and cycling, and doesn't bother to hide it....

I for one, do care. Deeply at that, too. I cannot believe nodoby else on here regrets seeing Studio Sport crushed. It's an institution! Even if they favor the big three, let's face it, it's what most people tune in for anyway.

Yes, finally we got rid of all those stupid NOS commentators. There were so BORING. And I really hated Smeets... Borst, Humberto Tan and Youri Mulder were all right though. I hope that De Mol will bring us some quality football coverage. With a lot of new commentators who are a bit more fanatic!

i have noticed in screen shots before that Nickelodeon broadcasts games.

idk how it is there, but in the US Nickelodeon shows mostly kid shows (cartoons) and at night classic american shows.

BTW did any of our Dutch audience happen to catch that short 'trailer' of the first football match broadcasted on Nickelodeon? I believe it was on Barend & v Dorp and it had Bassie (from Bassie & Adriaan) as commentator... it was phvcking hilarious :D

(bassie and adriaan are a kids tv duo... bassie is a clown and adriaan is an acrobat... they're all about adventure and treasure hunts... the duo have no problem slinging some mud back and forth between them on national TV nowadays... they don't get along to well anymore)

    Shut up, you eedeeot!

I was 13 when that show first aired in Belgium. I remember Duckman was on as well back then, and that was also around the time I discovered the Simpsons.
    Good times.

You're all in luck it seems, since Jackie boy is a good pal of Johnny, he probably will be one of the few who will make the transition from NOS to the new channel.

Can't we ship Jackie Boy off to some place where they do appreciate Ajax-obsessed dimwits? Like Florida?
