He needs to learn his limitations, and his coaches should too. He will never be Allison or Ederson with the ball at his feet.
well he needs to be better.... the first Frankfurt goal started with an errant clearance by Steffen...that led to a throw-in...which led to the cross and the goal..... the goal wasn't on Steffen but he needs to keep possession for the team with his distribution. If his distribution on that play had been to a teammate, Frankfurt doesn't score that goal, most likely.
Lol, obviously still early days but 50% higher saves per game than second place (and nearly equal to 2 and 3 combined) is unsustainable for a team. There be dragons ahead.
He doesn’t “need” to have great foot skills to carve out a career in a top league but it will always be a limiting factor for him.

Yawn ... already routine. Maybe just let us know whenever Steffen does not make Team of the Week. I think Steffen is really nicely positioned this season. Assuming no serious injuries and no loss of confidence, he's going to get a lot of good practice.
Yup he picked the right loan destination. GK and CBs get great experience being on a lower tier team in a league. If they avoid relegation and Steffen is one of the main reasons why we’ll be seeing an even better loan destination next summer.
Or maybe he will be sold. I suspect Steffen isn't determined to play for MC as long as he goes to a good team in a strong league. A Dortmund or an Everton or Valencia would be great for a 25 year old keeper. Spanish food would be an influence for me.
Düsseldorf is a good team to root for: no backroom deals, no suspected-criminal owners, no loan armies, no refs always taking their side, just an old-fashioned club trying to survive in the times of the American "private investors," the Russian oligarchs, the Chinese government-associated profiteers, and the shady Sheikhs. An honest club fighting for survival. How not to like them? https://www.waz.de/sport/fussball/f...ur-winterpause-kein-investor-id215920233.html
I personally hope Steph embodies the nexus of all your dreams and becomes a lock starter at Atalanta for the next decade. You and he deserve it!
I like Bergamo and am more likely to get to Switzerland or the south of France than Italy in the next few years...
Luchi Gonzalez would disagree with you. He takes the opposite tack and says players will make mistakes and have to learn how not to make those mistakes again to become better. Not even trying is not what he wants from players. He's OK with taking his lumps while the team and players learn how to work it out of the back because they will eventually be so much better.
