He’d do well enough to continue to provide solid link up play. To do that consistently would be a step forward for him as a player and keep him getting minutes (if not starts).

Having a nice game so far, but my god the first thing i notice is how trash Chelsea's central defense is right now. Obvious achilles heel. Miazga might be due a recall if it keeps up.

Its going to take time for this squad to mesh together, how much time will they be given though?

Also - when do Rudiger and Kante return from injury?

Too early to say if he will succeed or not, but by the casual fan eye test he wasn't particularly impressive out there today. Too many giveaways, back passes. Not enough danger created. Just my opinion if I'm trying to be impartial.

Chelsea have a weird insistence that they aren't going to use the wide spaces -- they are going force everything through the middle.

That's a real problem, especially when Barkley is terrible on the day.

I like Abraham. His goals haven't been beautiful so far, but when he gets a chance, it's usually on goal and has a pretty good chance.

Great observation . This was how Mo played with drogba and lumpy et al during their Glory days . Players turned coaches always seem to gravitate back to their Glory days playing style.

CPs early run is invisible to this team and without Mount to combine with at the top of the box his only real play is: hold up and wait for the overlap or hold up and wait for the cross to materialize.

It's clear lumpy is telling him to play a slower game not faster in order to keep a tighter formation. But let's face it they are neutering his best qualities. He is not playing timid or reserved, he is playing the only way he can to possibly fit in this team as they lined up today.

Today was the most glaring evidence yet that hiring an inexperienced manager was a mistake. They did no favors to Lampard’s managerial career by gifting him his dream job before he’d earned it. Hopefully there’s enough talent there to buy him the time he’ll need to learn on the job, but I’m not sure that’s the case.

The attack has scored more goals than all but three teams in the prems. Three new guys are not the problem. The defense is not anywhere near this standard. Anyone critiquing the attack before possession and defense , fan supporter or observer has no idea what they are on about. The attack is the only promising aspect so far.

Do yourselves a favor and don’t visit Reddit. They do not like Pulisic at all.

Maybe we’re watching different games, but he was not the problem today. Yet they think otherwise.

Lots of new accounts on Twitter and Reddit pissing on Pulisic. Sorry but I'm skeptical about them.

What matters to me is the big forums with actual Chelsea fans who've been there 10+ years, Talk Chelsea and The Shed End.

This game, for the first time, they have actually turned on Puli and noted him as ineffective, and perhaps better on the bench. Not good.

I watched part of the first half....Chelsea could barely get the ball into the attacking half and had a very hard time finding Pulisic at all....he was lucky to touch the ball in the part of the game I watched....hard to produce in that situation...still, he was the driving force behind the first goal...carrying it from midfield and harrying the GK into a mistake Abraham capitalized on.

Not sure what else he could do other than be Messi and dribble through 3 or 4 players and score great solo goals.....

I mentioned on twitter in a reply that Mount was worse than CP, and the same people crapping on CP realized that what I was saying was true. They were in agreement that Mount and Barkley were worse. But that’s a small sample of course

Per Whoscored, Of the 14 players that saw the pitch he was the 6th best(6.61). Only three players got a 7 or higher. Not great but in no way should he be considered a Scapegoat.

Good time for the international break. Hopefully he gets his 1st league goal before the end of the month.

Are they as reasonable and measured and thoughtful as all the actual long term fans here on BigSoccer? Fans are by definition overly reactive to both positive and negative moments. None of this matters unless there's a consistent pattern. What matters right now is coach and teammate support, and to a lesser degree the actual professional press.

I'd say they're equivalent to us, they have waited until now to manifest their disappointment with Pulisic.

I mean, over here we're often crazier, trying to blame the entire team and coaching staff when one of our own sucks.

This pack of animals is literally just that, a pack of animals. I'm sorry Sarri took them back to the UCL and won the Europa league. And they hated him. They now have a well meaning novice who has lost (points) in winnable positions because he refuses to line up a better defense with defensive cover. But CP is the problem? Agenda was set by the pack early and the rest just pile in. Simpletons and idiots.

Y’all need to chill. If Lampard didn’t like his play he would have been subbed out today. It was clear some of those who should have been combining with him were ineffective. Barkley was woeful and amount was even more anonymous than CP. I feel like this forum walks on egg shells with his every movement.

Kids... they were up 2-0 at the break. It's pretty clear where the issues are.

Wasn’t the worst player for Chelsea but he does not seem like a starting player at the moment.
