Web is not a bad guy Westside. I've met the dude, he just loves his Dynamo just like you. His idea isn't terrible. Trust me, he's as frustrated as any of us. We all want to lift the Cup, he just has more tolerance for punishment as a fan.
Why not keep putting out ideas? Why not try? Why not? How is that not better, from all reasonable perspectives, than being an online critic of those who do try?
Ok, how about penalties for season ticket holders who don't have their tickets scanned? That would get butts in seats. Or maybe free tickets to anyone who shows up with a Honduran flag? How about maybe if you have a felony conviction you get free hot dogs?
Apparently he doesn't care about paying for product that others get for free just for showing up (can draw about a half-dozen analogies to various government programs where taxpayers pay and and freeloaders benefit). I guess that's an idea
Yeah I don't want big stars here either, I'd rather just keep finishing 9th in the West with gritty players I personally don’t want big stars to come here, I like the players Mauro called “hard working, talented and humble.” But it would still be nice to see us spend what other teams do, and at least reward our great players. And maybe get some more.— Web 🕸 Tilton ☮️ (@webtilton) August 19, 2019
You asked for ideas . . . they aren't any worse than the ones you cited as being fairly offered by another Dynamo fan. Even the Dynamo ticket guy shot it down!! Good ol Web even called some of the ideas from other fans "silly" - where is his respect for the other ideas???????
Round up the homeless colony living under US-59, give them free T-shirt’s and load them up on the North Side.
Tell them one of the stars above the Dynamo crest is a star of hope. Ok, that’s tasteless. A major problem this whole situation is that the Dynamo are trying to market around the problem versus actually solving the problem which is spending on the squad and other associated business spending on the experience. Rather than truly invest in the experience they pretty much swapped out most of the front office on the business side at least at the executive levels - Which is probably incrementally a little bit more net cost it’s not like they added to the front office they just swapped out people.
I have officially moved my family from $48 seats to $20 seats.... although it annoys me that I, or a representative, have to arrive during a predetermined window to physically select tags off my seats. I know what seats I want, they have confirmed they are available, can’t you just electronically transfer me? I guess that’s too hard. Yet, in our own way we remain loyal Dynamo fans..... for the time being.
Probably has something to do with the new membership program and loyalty penalties they impose. Must be a best practice from the Cleveland Cavaliers
I grabbed the below from the reddit thread on the original Chronicle article. It's not a big deal, but the sort of sloppy/crappy customer experience stuff that you'd think they could figure out how to handle considering the stadium was 66% empty the other night. Probably more whining than anything but seems like they just want to get done with stuff rather than serve the customers "level 1 ddmtex The Dynamo's problems go well beyond the poor product they have on the pitch. We were at the match on Saturday. We get there early and we bring our "rally crew". I know it will be silly to some, but we have rally monkeys we dress in Dynamo kits and we set up at the Tecate Bar to watch the match. The rally monkeys hang on the rail in front of us. We do the same for the Astros, Rockets, Texans... We stay where we can set them up with taking up room from other fans. At the bar this is easy. During the match while the 2nd goal was being scored, we were forced to move from the bar because they close the bar area and clean up so that the players friends and family after match buffet can be set up. WHILE THE MATCH IS BEING PLAYED! There are other areas that they can use for post match things like this. But to the Dynamo it is more important to move fans while the match is going on than to consider that they are ruining the experience for the very people they are allegedly trying to attract. They have the East End Icehouse that's on the concourse. It doesn't even affect watching the match to clear that for post match gatherings. This type of thing has happened so often that my boyfriend notified our rep that we won't be getting season tickets next year. Neither will our friends that normally go with us"
Walker was on Glenn Davis show tonight again (podcast available of just the interview). In the first 90 seconds of the interview, speaking from the Leagues Cup game, talks about how the fans of America and Tigres come out for the games and wouldn’t miss them regardless of if they are on the top or bottom of the table and about how they want to build that with the Dynamo, where “it doesn’t matter rain or shine or whether are we are at the top of the table or the bottom of the table, that they want to come out and support their hometown team”. I encourage you to listen to it, seems a bit like a swipe at the fanbase Walker then goes on about attracting Liga MX fan. About how they can showcase the venue to the Leagues Cup participants to get them to come back (like they all haven’t been to BBVA multiple times with all of the Mexican club and national team games). They’ve also reached out to the supporters groups of some Mexican club teams, trying to build out the LAFC supporters model. (I think it’s funny they think that LAFC success isn’t at least partially about the on-field product) He’s all in on this club building, relationship building deal - mentions building a following with deep roots like the Cubs and that “we’ve only been around 15 years”. And this whole Supporters Alliance deal of trying to attract other clubs’ supporters to support the Dynamo . . . Seems like a low-percentage idea, maybe a quick sugar high but is some guy from the Liverpool supporters group gonna stick in with the Dynamo when all he cares about is UEFA CL and the Merseyside Derby? The money quotes: “ownership feels this team is much better than the record over the last couple of months” and “just 3 more wins somewhere during the drought and we’d be in second place, so we’re really not that far off”
@Westside Cosmo I was listening “live” on FB (one of 5 watching the live feed) and was livid with Walker’s comments. Instead of reaching out to fans of other teams, why don’t they reach out to us, Dynamo fans, that aren’t renewing or going to games anymore? I’ve yet to get a call since I sent my “opt out” form in early July. Yeah, I know that I’m no longer their target market as I am a fan and not a “member”. Walker is now fully touting the company line. Seems to me Jordan has been mentoring him on the art of saying nothing. I guess this just confirms that I’ve made the right call cancelling my 2020 STs. I will continue following the Dynamo, but won’t spend my money on them.
yes, if they think posters on this board who are former season ticket holders have too high expectations ('so good riddance') then they have no idea how much more a Barcelona or even a Tigres fans would expect on the field! They should just own it and say 'we are sorry but we are trying'. The easiest tickets to sell would be fans who are the most passionate about the team in the past. Why are we even posting on this board / because we care to have a competitive team in Houston. We have seen what that looks like and we desperately want that again with this team. We want to watch quality soccer live, in our own stadium in Houston. Talking heads need to stop defending the poor technical direction, team decisions and faulty strategies of Jordan, Wilmer and the Owners.
I recognize that with the Leagues Cup going on that Glenn would probably ask those leading questions about converting the Mexican soccer fan. That “opportunity” has existed for 13 years now and has yet to be converted on (there are far deeper cultural, ethnic, and yes Mexican nationalism(!) reasons why those fans will never support the Dynamo which this new FO group doesn’t understand since they are all out of towners). For as much as Walker has said in the Chronicle article and in this interview, one thing is becoming clear - he’s been told to figure out how to get fans into the stadium without relying on a winning product on the field and additional investment. They’ve got a nice obfuscation deal going with Walker and Jordan doing separate interviews with Walker not addressing the on-field and spending issues and Jordan just saying we spend enough already and Brener just being invisible. Yeah, I haven’t been a season ticket holder for a few years but the apparent shunning of those opting out and those who have dropped in the last year or two seems odd. Like they’d rather sell to someone who hasn’t shown the ability or capacity to buy instead of an easier renewal sale to someone on the fence. Odd.
This is of course right out of the Widder playbook. He also spoke of a vision for the next 18 months that will focus on other things in the community for "members". I definitely took the rain or shine observation as a swipe at the "disloyal" fans who are abandoning the team. I commented on the thread that the only way that LigaMX fans would even consider going to a Dynamo game is if there was comparable play which would require an ownership investment in players along the same lines as those in LigaMX. The actual focus of this current management group will be to continue with the marching orders set by ownership and reported by SBI in their MLS Ambitions Rankings "We’ve invested in upgrades to the stadium (more detail below) and have put an increased focus on re-establishing the club’s brand identity and building relationships, rather than focusing on transactions." The actual plan is contained in this video https://www.dropbox.com/s/m0dmz8l6a...Experience - 2016 SSBC in Pittsburgh.mp4?dl=0
I was sitting above and saw them get kicked out. It is crazy to think they would move people to set up for that reason. I have seen the buffet and wondered who it was for.
if your catering crew can't setup in 5 minutes then your catering crew sucks. par for the BBVA stadium course.
I trust our FO calls up some restaurant to cater each home game over serving our players and their waga n children the same dish the stadium folks serve to us fans.
Got an email today. The Dynamo have now adopted the timeshare sales approach. Make an appointment to come for a membership discussion, get two free tickets to a game after the appointment. No thanks.
'Elegant currency' to be used in negotations or sales. Give away something of no value to you (unsold tickets) for a sales pitch to a potential customer who sees value for not having to pay for entertainment
This guy may get the captains armband for FC Orange Kool-Aid http://mobile.twitter.com/Lucasjr02/status/1164373532782014464
His shot glass is fitting for the kool aid. But the comments though. I did like thia guy's "God willing" statement. For it appears our club does indeed need God and his countenance right now!
Those 4 reasons aren’t very compelling. I think #2 needs to be reworded a bit... like maybe NON-CREDIBLE instead of INCREDIBlE
