I don't follow WWE but this is really cool! The U.S. Women’s National Team members are no strangers to titles, and they recently added a custom WWE #WomensChampionship to the collection! https://t.co/YQjWqCNJuM @USWNT @CarliLloyd @julieertz @ALLIE_LONG #OneNationOneTeam— WWE (@WWE) August 16, 2019
Funny. If I had to choose 3 USWNT players to make it as “professional” wrestlers those are the three I’d pick!
Funny thing is if Ally Long got into the ring her Botox lips and cheeks would explode while being pile drived
There is a FIFA Conference in Milan 22 Sep with a Tribute to the FIFA Women's World Cup champions with the participation of the tournament's winning coach Jill Ellis Basically a Q&A with her explaining her processs for the tournament. They did exactly the same with Didier Deschamps for the men's tournament. It was very good and enjoyable.
I've already seen some Post World Cup interviews where HCJE attributes most of the success in France to insights derived from posts on the Big Soccer Forum.
Last year Deschamps explained why he preferred playing two centre-backs Pavard and Herndandez and full-backs. Maybe Ellis will explain why she prefers midfielders at full-back.

If you missed watching, Rapinoe's speech was once again worth watching: After the normal thanks to coaches and teammates, she talked about some players fighting against racism, sexism, and homophobia. She said, "I feel like if we really want to have meaningful change, what I think is most inspiring would be if everybody other than Raheem Sterling and Koulibaly, if they were as outraged about racism as they were, if everybody else was that; if everybody was as outraged about homophobia as the LGBT players were; if everybody was as outraged about equal pay, or the lack thereof, or the lack of investment in the women's game, other than just women, that would be the most inspiring thing to me. So, I feel like that's my ask of everybody. We have such an incredible opportunity being professional football players...lend your platform to other people, lift other people up, share your success. We have a unique opportunity...to use this beautiful game to change the world for the better. ...Do something. Do anything. We have incredible power in this room."

Sooooooooo, pre-tournament one could question if Nike BELIEVED. In fact, to this day, one could question if Nike BELIEVES. Two thoughts above provided by a guy who is still walking around Planet Earth without a Rose Lavelle jersey. That fact could get me banished from some cultures. **Note to Nike.... There does exist an observance of an annual Holiday in late December that traditionally includes the exchange of gifts. I suggest you dedicate some resources of your crack team of geniuses to research the topic. Or maybe Google it.**
Well I guess I'm due to be banished from the solar system because...brace yourself... I still don't own any USWNT jersey. I just was never able to bring myself to drop $100+ in cold hard cash on the purchase of a single jersey. The official U.S. Soccer jerseys I do own are sadly nameless, numberless, and [most grievously] starless and either financed by (non-U.S. Soccer Store) gift cards or obtained unexpectedly through that really obscure gift-exchanging holiday you mentioned. I haven't ruled out finally biting the bullet and forking over the money for a red 4-star Heath jersey while it's still there, but on principle I want to buy it myself rather than requesting it as a gift. I also would have preferred the white. Might take a chance and hope Nike continues its streak of non-atrocious jerseys in the spring. I'm looking forward to seeing the four stars in a row and the same color. On a side note, I recall seeing the option once of adding the World Cup Champions shield below the collar of USWNT jerseys after the 2015 World Cup; that option just might be the deal-sealer for me if it returns. Too bad Nike isn't reading this forum, or even that article, probably.
I just might pack a couple rolls of Black Masking Tape in the suitcase on the upcoming Columbus/Jacksonville trip. H. - everyone else gets to protest why not the kid. Two steps forward one step back...these Women can't catch a break. Never thought that their own Apparel Sponsor would exhibit such gross ineptitude. I can live with this new look.
There are 9 videos from the Player's Tribune on Megan Rapinoe and Lindsey Horan. They were shot prior to the WWC. (8 videos in the "Generations" series and 1 on Lindsey Horan looking back after the WWC). First video here:
The podcast Laughter Permitted with Julie Foudy is having a USWNT week. Today is Alex Morgan and Kelley O'Hara. There will also be podcasts with Carli Lloyd, Sam Mewis, Rose Lavelle, Julie Ertz, Crystal Dunn, and Jill Ellis this week. http://www.espn.com/espnradio/podcast/archive/_/id/26092845
ESPN has an article about Lloyd's interview on Foudy's podcast Laughter Permitted. Haven't listened to the podcast (would like hearing from those who have), but was very interested in the quotes about Lloyd's unhappiness at her diminished role over the past three years. She is also already talking about discussing her status with the incoming coach (whoever that be). On the one hand, it isn't surprising that a world-class athlete, at one time the world's best player, should be frustrated at no longer being an automatic starter, but it was surprising to hear that she considered the past 3 years "the worst time of her life" and that the WC was so difficult for her. Really interesting in terms of the psychology of having to cope with change. https://www.espn.com/soccer/united-...shed-world-cup-role-was-worst-time-of-my-life
You should listen to the whole podcast although I still have mixed feelings about the thing. First, I think she comes across better in the podcast than she does in the quotes pulled from articles. She does think she should be playing; most players on the bench probably think that. The fact that she says it out loud (and has been saying it for awhile now; this is NOT new) could be a locker room problem. However, I don't think it is; she's just confident and thinks she should be playing without stating to a teammate what could be the corollary: "and you should not be." She also says it while still stating that she loves the team and is proud of winning her second WWC. But her reason for thinking that she should be playing? She said she's in the best form of her career and she's physically capable of playing. Well, that's true of most of the bench players. That doesn't mean she figures into a coach's plans or needs to be. And she probably had the most minutes of any player coming off the bench. She also said she needs to have an open, honest conversation with the new coach to continue to play, which implies that she didn't have that with Ellis. But she did talk a lot about her conversations with Ellis, so I think what she means when she said she wants an open, honest conversation with the new coach is that she wants the new coach to agree to start her. Again, that's not how it works. Probably most important, she said that the past three years is the "worst time of her life"...that's a pretty charmed life, if this is the worst. Moving to the bench is hard for anyone, but is it really the worst thing in your entire life?
