Tbh, I think the main goal this season is to win el campeonato. Can’t have emelec reach us.

Seeing how this season is almost over, I think we should start looking at new signings. I've heard some rumors about Bryan Cabezas, Adolfo Munoz, Roberto Garces, Manuel Balda, Sherman Cardenas, and Claudio Bieler all in Liga's radar.

To begin, I think it's important to make sure we keep the majority of the players we have this season for the upcoming year. That takes into consideration doing a 2 year contract with Gabbarini, using the option to purchase for Cristian Cruz who was fantastic this season, attempting to get another 1 year loan for Orejuela, and also attempting to get another 1 year loan for Anibal Chala (this one seems to be the least probable since he's been on loan at Liga for 1 year and half now). Assuming we do all this, we are set to begin thinking about players to add to our roster for next season since we will now be battling in 3 fronts: Copa Ecuador, Liga Pro, and Copa Libertadores.

Here are my thoughts on players that should exit Liga due to poor performance:
Edison Realpe (terrible performances. not a single game he didn't have me scared we were going to lose and in fact we did lose points due to him in 1 or 2 occasions)
Jonathan Borja (I wish he was given more opportunities because he's talented, but his attitude is what made it tough for him to succeed in Liga)
Gaston Rodriguez (never completely filled expectations although he was crucial in certain games in the first half of the year. I don't think he he ideal for this squad)
Julio Angulo (the worst signing of the year)

    Players we could possibly sign:
Sherman Cardenas- I think he has lots of quality and unfortunately he left at a time when I felt he was going to really be at his full potential in Liga, but I'd like him back. (Gaston's replacement)
    Bryan Cabezas-
I noticed he started getting minutes FINALLY towards the end of the season in Fluminense. He has a contract there until June 2019. I think it's possible to get him signed to Liga. We are playing 3 cups and I think Repetto can convince him since he'll have ample opportunities for playing time.
Jose Ayovi- Great option. He has the speed and stamina to play in Repetto's Liga. Liga is a team that goes back in forth and transitions quickly from defending to attacking and I think his pace would fit in well with the team. He'd be an awesome substitute.
Manuel Balda - He's had 3 great years in El Nacional and I think he's capable of playing in a more competitive team like Liga. I think having him, Sherman, and Johan Julio battling for a spot would increase the competitiveness. Johan won't be in Liga much longer. 1 more great season and he's on his way to another league and same goes for his brother.
Andres Chicaiza- Had a great year with Delfin, but I know he played in Liga before and never got the chance to stand out. I have my doubts with him playing in a top team, but I'd keep him in consideration. It seems like Liga reached out to him and also Atletico Nacional and BSC are going for him too. Not my preference, but we'll see what happens.
Gabriel Cortez- Great #10 with lots of talent. His issue is his disciplinary problems. I'd have him in consideration if we can't get Balda or Sherman who are my top 2 priorities. I'm sure Lobos doesn't really find him necessary since he hasn't played much there.
Roberto Garces - I think he'd be a great option as a substitute in case we don't have a player from our youth divisions that gets promoted to the first squad. IF we have a quality center mid, we don't need Garces. If we don't, then we should definitely go for him. He didn't have a good 2018 as he did in 2017 in El Nacional, but I'd still consider him a good and viable option.
Adolfo Munoz- Good player, but I don't find it necessary to sign him. I feel like it'd be a Carlos Feraud part 2. I don't see him being top quality that's needed in Liga.
Jordan Sierra- I think if Jefferson Orejuela can't renew with us for another 1 year loan, we should go for Sierra. Sierra has generally been a starter for the past year in Lobos BUAP since he signed them. He's on loan there from Tigres until December 31st meaning he has to return to Tigres. The question is do they need him there? I think Liga has an opportunity here, unless Lobos or another Mexican team scoops him or OR unless Tigres really needs him there. I'd consider it since renewing Orejuela may be tough. I'm sure there are teams outside of Ecuador that want to buy Orejuela.
Carlos Gruezo- He's always a starter in Dallas since he joined and has really matured as a player in the MLS to the point where I can guarantee most people here that the starting spot in the NT is his and Sebastian Mendez. His contract ends in December of 2019 which means either Dallas sells him before his contract ends OR if they want to keep him they will have to sign a new one. I think Liga has a chance to possibly get a 6 month loan with option to buy BUT this scenario seems like the toughest of all the other options. And I doubt we have the money to buy him.
Gabriel Corozo- Ex Liga player from our youth divisions who seemed to have one of the most promising futures in Europe, but injuries have screwed him over when he was in Spain. He's still young (23 years old) and since he has no team at the moment, this option is THE MOST viable of all our signings for 2019. The kid will be back home and can have the possibility to get playing time either as right fullback or left fullback. I remember he could play anywhere in defense even in a line of 3 as a center back. I think he should be a priority despite the fact that he didn't get much playing time in Spain and suffered injuries.
Pedro Pablo Perlaza- I think he'd be a great substitute for Quintero. He's had a great season in Delfin and he's 27 years of age so he has experience at this point which is what we need for Libertadores if we ever need a sub.
    Andres Lopez-
IMO one of the best right backs in the past few years who has been consistent in Católica. If we signed him, we'd be relegating Choclo Quintero to the bench, but I think it would make our defense line even stronger. Lopez is excellent defending and projecting himself up the field. It's an expensive move which I doubt we can make, but I'd attempt it. Contract with Católica ends December 2019, so at this point either Católica sells him to an Ecuadorian team NOW or in June to a foreign team assuming a foreign team wants him or they will lose their investment in him and their chances to sell him so I think if Lopez stays in Ecuador it will be in a top team and Liga is the only one that will want to buy him IMO. BSC and Emelec have that position filled....Byron Castillo and Pedro Velasco in BSC and Hormiga Paredes in Emelec.

I was gonna wait till el campionato finished to make this post lol. But every news outlet is all over possible transfers for all teams. We actually just signed Daniel Segura I was hoping we would go for a young striker we will need it now.

I also want to have Pineida as an option if Lopez isnt possible and the rumors of Pineida going to Emelec and MX arent true. I think having a second quality RB will be vital even if it means possibly benching Quintero. It happened with Chala and we ended up with Cruz who I didnt think would reach this level of preformance in Liga. O and that Perlaza guy i thought he was like 22 didnt know he was 27 lmao.

I low key want the same to happen with our strikers. Should we sign a solid striker even though it may possibly bench Anangono ? Do we have money for that ? Who would be our options. Anangono has been really sharpening him self as a great striker for our team. But I still have that feeling that if we want to get far in libertadores we will need one.

On the other hand if we get Bieler for cheap, nationalized and as a second option it wouldnt be bad either. We got our young striker now so that set of forwards would be ok. Also What do you think about Maximiliano Barreiro a a second option in case we cant get Bieler?

Other than We have to make an effort to keep all our main players we have to keep that base.

So far I know Gabbarini will be renewed but their working on a longer term contract (I'd aim for 2 years max because I think Viveros and Naza will be ready at any moment and it'll be sooner than later...next year they'll get playing time with Copa Ecuador, Liga Pro, and Libertadores). Liga is going to use the option to purchase Cruz. Orejuela agrees on wanting to stay with Liga another year, but since Fluminense is changing coaches at the moment, it will depend on the coach coming in if he wants Orejuela back in Flu. My guess is they don't...why? Simply because Orejuela will have the possibility to play Libertadores in 2019 with Liga where he's generally a starter, he's a NT player, and also Copa America is coming, so they'll want to showcase him so that they can sell him at the end of 2019 and get their investment back on him. At that point obviously Liga can't buy him b/c he's out of our reach, but at least we can borrow him another year. And then Pellerano, we're definitely renewing him from what I'm told. That's four key players: Gabbarini, Cruz, Pellerano, and Orejuela (a big possibility). The rest of the squad remains. Like I mentioned earlier- what we really need to look at is who do we OUT from this squad? Those players to me are Edison Realpe, Julio Angulo, Jonathan Borja, and Gaston Rodriguez.

What you heard about Pineida is actually true. The reason I say that is because his contract ends in December 2019. He signed a 4 year deal if im not mistaken. If BSC doesn't sell him by June at LATEST, they will lose their investment in him because I don't think he wants to continue playing there. He already tried going to Liga last season, but BSC did not want to sell him to us. He's pricey even though he hasn't had a good season like he did in 2017 and all years prior to that. So yes, BSC WILL DEFINITELY try to sell him now. Remember....Cevallos said BSC will sell at least 1 player per year to stay within budget. They didn't get to sell Dario Aimar this season, so what do you think they'll do? Sell Pineida. It's their only player they really can sell at the moment. And since he doesn't really want to stay there, he's the #1 option to leave. Do I think they'd sell him to Emelec or Liga?? HELL NO! They'll overprice him. Cevallos isn't dumb. He won't strengthen his rivals squads. He didn't allow it to happen last season. Very unlikely for us to sign a player like him. I'd even say almost impossible.

If I had a choice, I'd get rid of the players I mentioned earlier ^ and then sign these:

    1. Sherman Cardenas OR a quality foreigner attacking center mid/second striker OR Manuel Balda
    2. Jose Ayovi
    3. Bryan Cabezas
    4. Roberto Garces
    5. Gabriel Corozo (if we can't renew Chala)
    6. Andres Lopez
**7. If we can't renew Orejuela, Jordan Sierra Or Carlos Gruezo would be a necessary addition to the team IMO

Ideally that's what I would want for Liga. But the real question is do we have the budget for that? That's the tough part. I know that none of the players on this list with the exception of maybe Roberto Garces, Sherman Cardenas, and Gabriel Corozo are considered viable and cheap. When it comes to Jose Ayovi, Cabezas, or Lopez we're talking $$$. Taking into consideration we are playing Libertadores and Copa Ecuador, we should be able to have a bigger budget so I don't want the same typical Esteban excuses of every year. Thank God the Julio brothers came through this year or else we wouldn't be where we are. And Thank God for Barcos in the first semester too.

Jefferson Intriago is now a Tigres player. Esteban said he's going to really try hard to have him stay since it hasn't been made official yet, but my hopes are low for that to happen. He has 6 more months left in his contract from what I heard. It's either he renews his contract with Liga OR Liga sells him and the best option at this moment is Liga selling him even though we could've renewed with him if Esteban and the dirigencia had approached him earlier (according to Esteban) since it was up in the air whether Esteban was going to stay in Liga or not. Now we lost Intriago and we are on the verge of losing Orejuela if the new Fluminense coach needs him in their squad. All our efforts have to go into keeping Orejuela AND knocking on Jordan Sierra and Carlos Gruezo's door. Gruezo will be VERY difficult, but Sierra is manageable. Why do I say this? Guess who owns Jordan Sierra's pass? Tigres!! The same people who are buying Intriago. So I'd ask Tigres "Let me get a loan for 6 months-1 year for Jordan Sierra". Other than these 2 guys, I'd look into foreigners at this point. QUALITY foreigners. No bullish*t Esteban! No more Gaston's or Borja's and all that other sh*t. QUALITY only!! Wonder how Matias Duffard (ex. Delfin) is doing in Oriente Petrolero? That player was interesting. 29 years old. His experience would be great.

I guess in reality it was always impossible to keep all the players we wanted. I just didnt think we would have an issue keeping Intriago.

Getting Gruezo is hard especially since he is comfortable in USA and his team. It also hard to play the libertadores card too when guys like Ezequiel Barcos left being Sudamericana champs for MLS along with the handful of player that were previously in Europe Gruezo being one of them.

Our midfield is on point as well as our defense. Our offense needs work though compared to Emelec we are not an offensive power house. Emelec attacked from all sides Left, right, and middle. Our chances came mostly from Guerrero who hustled to attack and move back to recover. For next season if we get Cardenas or a quality CAM it will do our offense a lot of justice and I would dare to say a quality striker as well. That would really help me sleep at night. Im glad we left Capwell with a draw tho.

Dam that was a nerve wrecking game but we came out Champions none the less! We dominated those first 20min then Guerra and Pellerano both got injured I was hoping we wouldn't get screwed over with out them.

I dont know what happened to Joel Lopez from Emelec I dont remember him being injured but didnt seem like he was called. Emelec went with a 4-4-2 and started Byron Palacios. They didnt generate any attack. Rojas and Caicedo were pretty much off this whole game the only danger they had was Angulo up front odd changes from Soso. We also missed like 5 clear chances to score lol but his tittle was well deserved time to put that money to good use.

What a great year. When we signed all these players in January especially on defense I said how is that going to work trying to give everyone minutes but it did because of injuries. My whole family gives me slack because I'm a LIGA fan and everyone roots for Barcelona so this win was bitter sweet for me. My dream is to one day be at that stadium when we win it all again. I was contemplating going now but with two little kids at home I didn't want to upset the wife. I wear my jersey with pride and people always ask me what team is that I say Liga from Ecuador the Rey de copas hahahahah

It wouldn't be hard to retain lots of our players, BUT the main issue is the dirigencia right now may not continue because of differences with Liga's president who's all about volley ball and his country club and knows NOTHING about futbol. Guillero Romero is a complete moron who just wants to nuke money out the club and cares two sh*ts about futbol. Can't wait til he leaves Liga and his time there is up. These issues caused us to slip up and miss an opportunity to get Intriago to sign another contract with us and Tigres has snatched him. Luckily, his contract with Liga ends in June 2019, so we get $$ from this transfer, but unfortunately, we won't have him for Libertadores which is where we would need him. I'm sure if we negotiated with him he would've stayed because he's a Liga fan....but this misunderstanding between the dirigencia and the president need to end. We need to start making more moves for the 2019 season. BSC just snatched Fidel Martinez away from us. We basically had an agreement with him and they came in between and scooped him up. Why? because there's no guarantee in Liga that this dirigencia is going to stay for 2019.

There's still more places where we can knock doors and I've mentioned them here. One of them is Bryan Cabezas. I'd definitely reach out to him, Vinicio Angulo, Cristian Penilla, Jacob Murillo, Gabriel Corozo (who is about to sign with D. Cuenca), Andres Lopez, Pedro Perlaza, Jordan Sierra, and Carlos Gruezo. We need to end up signing some of these ^ guys. Right now we have Chicaiza, Jose Luis Cazares, and Segura for next season. We are about to close the deal with Roberto Garces and possibly with Adolfo Munoz (not a big fan of this signing)....I think we need to forget about Munoz and aim for Cabezas or Penilla. If that fails, then go for Jacob Murillo, but we need a heavy signing in the attacking half to strengthen us up front. I'd definitely sign Vinicio Angulo up front from Dorados. I think he'd make a great addition along with Martinez Borja, Anangonó, and Djorkaeff.

Point is, we need to start making smart moves. STOP FALLING ASLEEP ESTEBAN!!!

It was a good run. Yesterday's game with Boca is how we should of played back home. But with an early goal our boys lost control and everything went down hill from there. I was very happy to see 2k fans show up and support the team. Now our main focus should be in LigaPro. Try to win it and at least earn a spot in the group phase of the Copa.

These are the players I think we should let go for next season.

    Realpe
    Pellerano
    Cazares
    Angulo
    Murillo
    Garces (Loan to IDV)
Chicaiza ( Huge maybe but I think our offense would benefit greatly from a foreign 10)

Every one else we need to renew. And I think it time we really project youth players. Let really give Minda, Serpa, Alcivar, Ocles, J.Arce, J.Espinoza, etc playing time and growth. And try to recover Reascos.

I think we should really go after Pedro Perlaza and start using Valencia to command our midfield. He can get mid to defend and attack and see him scoring more goals. Also sign Jeison Chala.

    Gabarini
    Perlaza, Rodriguez, Guerra, Cruz
    Valencia, Orejuela
    A. Julio, Chicaiza\Foreign 10, Ayovi
    Aguirre

    Copa Ecuador

Marcos Caicedo is said to be leaving BSC and is on our radar. And speaking of BSC they claim to be getting Emanuel Martinez and Dida ? I really doubt Dida is gonna play for BSC. I really hope he goes back to Colon or another Argentinean team where he can the starting GK.

This team will be different next year. The Julio brothers might make the jump to Mexico, Orejula situation is complicated his rights are too expensive since his team that owns his pass wants to sell him and not loan him out anymore. Rodriguez might not be back too expensive. Ayovi is not part of the plans going forward. I'm with you give the younger kids more playing time and support them with our studs like Antonio, Augirre and Gabba.

The good news if we make the LIGA Pro final we are guaranteed a spot in the Copa Libertadores as Ecuador #2 in the group phase so we will be making 1 million for each home game. Last year the club made about 5.2 million playing in the Copa Libertadores.

Yea it gonna be hard to renew and keep everyone but the hardest one will be Orejuela. If we loose him we would either have to get a foreign mid or go full fledged trying to sign Sebastian Menedez or Jose Cifuentes only viable option but not easy. Gruezo, Sierra would be to hard and pricey. And locally no one else catches my attention and there no way IDV is letting Liga have Franco.

For CB we havent been able to keep any Foreign CB. Maybe we should sign Moises Corozo. And in that scenario I sign a foreign 10 and keep Chicaiza for back up. Go all in trying to sign AlexanderAlvarado, Jesion Chala, Marcos Caicedo. I really hope Ordonez and Caicedo get there form back.

    Gabarini

We might not be able to keep Luis Ayala he said to return to IDV. If we loose him i think Fernando mora would be a good option for back up LB.

I think the rumors for Marcos Caicedo might not be true. We should go all in for Cristian Penilla and have him in the starting LM position and Alvarado would be a great alternative and starter for Copa Ecuador and el Campionato.

Yup and next year we will be playing Super Copa Sudamericana as well. So we will have plenty of money coming in.

I was thinking about our gk situation. Naza and Viveros are constantly competing for second place spot. Naza is 25 right now I think it time maybe we loan him or Viveros out so that they can grow. Maybe Viveros more than Naza cause we will be playing alot of tournaments. Campoinato, Copa Ecuador, Libertadores, and Super Copa. I think Olmedo or Santa Rita would be perfect for either one to be loaned to. They can or should be 1st choice keepers in those teams granted they dont sign a foreigner in that positions.

Dam Liga really needs an affiliate team we would loose a lot less potential talents if we did. Guys like Chicaiza, Fernando Mora, Alex Colon came out of the youth divisions and we let them go.
