One of the fascinating aspects of high level UEFA ball....

On the one hand, high potential for international tv money with new slots...

On the other, cant alienate the lucrative home market too much either.

Question, how long has Friday and Monday night football been around in England? Since Sky?

One of the reasons attendance is declining for college gridiron football in the US is the slavish attention paid to broadcasters over paying fans who actually go to games. I hope the Spanish FA wins this battle.

I'm shocked that La Liga put money first over distribution. Who cares if no one watches your league if a network is just throwing money at you. I assume the person who negotiated this was the same person who thought it would be good to put DC United matches on a streaming platform that never really worked.

Thats surprising since they have been so vocal about broader distribution

Well maybe they put their relationship with Qatar over distribution -- but that boils down to money over distribution in the end.

I guess it works in terms of money and other territories.

I dont see how they will beat the EPL in the US now, tho.

Another interesting note, heard on The Totally (European) Football Show this week: La Liga has not signed a deal to be shown on UK TV or streaming. Season begins in 30 hours...

Even MLS can manage a deal with Sky to be shown there. Probably for next to nothing, but at least they're on the air.

I still think it's the right move for La Liga to stay on bein even if the distribution numbers aren't what they'd like them to be. The league, as a whole, is covered very well on bein, especially on the Spanish channel.
