Re: Luiz Honestly wouldn't be surprised if this is a ploy to distract Arsenal from landing a legit defender. Also, if we're going with the stop-gap measure then maybe activate Toby Alderweireld's release clause. I'd prefer him to Luiz, personally, especially if the older Brazilian is gonna cost us 20M. Or just buy Tierney and have Nacho provide cover.
Chelsea only have to hold out for 24 hours. They aren't going to sell Luiz to us. IMO we should get Tierney over the line and play stopgaps at CB and deal with the issue in January.
I would keep iwobi Sell xhaka and mustafi and el neney Buy a cb and tierney We have a decent squad then. I want to see willock and iwobi get good midfield minutes
Best part from the Guardian article on Luiz comes at the end: Philippe Coutinho, another Joorabchian client, had also explored the possibility of moving to north London but has rejected Tottenham’s offer to take him on loan.
Scottish Sun: Tierney to Arsenal fee agreed. £25m. 5-year deal. £75k-a-week. Left-back travelling from Edinburgh Airport with agent for medical. #afc— Sam (@samuelJayC) August 7, 2019
Celtic and Arsenal have agreed a fee for Scotland left-back Kieran Tierney.https://t.co/VChVbRaaAN pic.twitter.com/MUypnTqtRN— BBC Sport (@BBCSport) August 7, 2019
Arsenal also confirm: Arsenal keen to sign Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney for years & finally have their man, subject to medical tomorrow (no formality given injuries but should be ok). Contact re-established this morning via Raul Sanllehi call to Peter Lawwell & deal swiftly concluded #AFC #CelticFC https://t.co/ZgayeIwX14— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) August 7, 2019
I'm happy, but still... This all could've been done weeks ago so that the lad could have time to gel with the team BEFORE the season starts.
He's injured and wouldn't have been able to practice with the lads anyway. Maybe build some chemistry, but I get waiting to see who blinks first when he wouldnt see the field with the team til after the deadline anyway.
Lukaku to Inter and Lo Celso to Sperz. Now here's hoping Sperz don't sell Eriksen and United don't sign anyone.
I knew about the rehab part but he still has to find a place to live, get used to the coaching staff, etc. As a projected starter I want him mingling with the players and staff, learning how the side is performing, and so on. To me chemistry matters, especially in building a team that fights for one another. The best sides function where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts, and that is often, I feel, down to team chemistry and rapport.
True but if we can lose el neney this world Dow and xhaka and mustafi in jan or buy a cab now and continue to push them as the month goes on abroad
We’re stuck with Xhaka until at least next season. Might as well make him captain no.1 so he’s guaranteed to leave.
LET'S GOOOOOO!!! Wow what a window! Yes we still need a CB, but I think props have been earned by Raul and Company. This is truly a make or break year that could ensure our future or destroy it and they responded much better than we thought. If we get a decent CB i will never question them again...maybe.
With the projection that he won't be available for a while, he has plenty of time to do those things.
Like most rumors it is probably someone adding two plus two and getting five. Rooney is leaving, so DC United will be on the lookout for a new Franchise Player. Who's available? Ozil might be, lets run with it.
Turns out it's for a coffee shop owned by Ozil in the DC United stadium. https://theathletic.com/1123863/201...esut-ozils-interest-in-d-c-united-audi-field/
Unlikely. MLS is a huge paycut. Ozil might go to MLS on a free in two years, but he's not taking an eight figure paycut.
