Hope he’s legit, after seeing our midfield at work I went from a Pogba agnostic to sign him NOW.

lol...same. We need reinforcements in that midfield...it's so plain to see. Even though I've always thought of him as overhyped.... we're in desperate need of fresh talent.

Wanted Ndombele and Lo Celso.....but after this pre-season if we end up with Pogba and VDB......it would be very positive.

I'm so done with Isco and LV....sell both.

Pogba - VDB - James to replace Isco (sell), LV (sell) and Kroos (Bench)

With the way Varane and our right backs are playing, Militao has the opportunity to be our most important signing this summer.

We’re on to our 3rd (possibly 4th) system in 12 months. The players are still not clicking.

That's what gets me. People keep talking about changing the system.

Uh.... Lopetegui was a different system. So was Solari.

The same shit players were shit.

It's the price. 80ME is a good price all things considered.

You get much closer to 100 or over and it can't be justified anymore, not in performances, not with marketing, no silly dance or new haircut will help.

I get the feeling that his "energy" will improve initially with the move and but I don't see a permanent change happening overnight, and, just looking at Hazard complacency may already be seeping in now that he's got his long sought after dream move secured.

First la liga match and we ll see this :

    Keylor

    Carvajal Varane Ramos Marcelo

    Modric Casemiro Kroos

    LV Benzema Hazard.

100% sure. Even if we get Pogba we still lack a RM quality RW and a fhcking system. We play like CR7 is still here and will just score one more than we concede.

So far we have replaced just 1 starter. Not the best "refreshing the team" season.

As long as we win I don't care, as I said before, the main problem is this team doesn't inspire any success or general sense of enjoyment.

I feel our midfield's lethargic play has definitely opened up more people to the idea of a VDB signing.

The only reason I see for someone to be against it is out of fear he'll be our new Lucas Vazquez.

I dont get why LV gets so much stick. He's literally the most RM/RW player we have with any form of consistency. Vin is full of potential and so is Rodrygo but thats as far as it goes. They are no worldclass talent who will jump into your first 11 and just make it shine. They need to be eased in gently and carefully. If you look at the market apart from Ziyech and even that is a huge stretch, who do you guys really think is attainable and has enough quality to make an impact for the RW position? Zidane flirted with Mane but that would probably cost 150m+

What we are witnessing is the culimination of bad planning, inflated market prices and lack of real quality out there. If not Pogba then VDB, just imagine that? Our team needs refreshing but we cant refresh the team if the market doesnt allow for us to sell some and buy the RIGHT players.

Basically this. He became a scapegoat/meme for everything that's wrong with this team. Sure, he isn't a starting material for a club like Real Madrid, but he was never intended to be. He is "just" a great sub and he is always fighting, tracking back, giving his all for this team.

And I for one think this is worth much more than incredible talent and playing like primadonnas or innocent bystanders on the field (khm khm Isco, Kroos, Vinicius and co.).

It Is evident to me that the team cannot defend. I think the 4-2-3-1 should be persisted with as it will be impossible to change everything in one summer. However, I really think the club need to sign two more destroyers, 3 in total alongside casemiro. These don’t have to be elite, but just be good at breaking up play like a N’didi and Danilo periera. Casemiro won’t be able to solve everything by himself. My ideal team would be something like this for this season as a short term solution.

    Courtouis

    Carvajal Militao Ramos Mendy

    Casemiro N’didi

    Bale James Hazard

    Benzema.

Then the likes of rodrygo, Vinicius, jovic and Isco to provide options off the bench, Modric playing the super sub role.

The above team would get the team through the season. It has a good attack and solid midfield. The defence is really vulnerable so two natural defensive midfielders to provide protection to them. Like Mourinho did in the 4-2-3-1 with Alonso and khedira

LV gets stick because when fans look at who teams have on the wing and he falls way short of what you would like to see as a Real Madrid starter. IMO most of the stick he gets is unfair - but i personally love having LV in the squad. I wouldn't start him all the time, but he provides a tactical alternative which you wouldn't get from a star winger.

However with the offense struggling to score - LV tries to do too much at times which only helps paint him as a target.

You are right. He is one to give options in tactics. He is by no way a gifted player in any sense of star power but he is good to have and he actually works hard. The problem is when we expect him to play at a certain level beyond his abilites. He cant. He is not Sane, or Mane, or Neymar.. He's just LV and at the moment I belive he is the best RM/RW we have in the squad (depending on where and how you place Bale) and thats saying a lot about our squad!

LV great for the bench , hell no. He just isn't anywhere close to RM quality.

Lucas V can run his ass off all day. When we need goals, all he's good for is crossing, crossing and then some more crossing. The dude is a one trick pony in attack and nobody respects his scoring ability because he has none. When we need a goal, it's Benzema or bust these days. Especially if Lucas V is having to start on the right wing.

I don't have anything against Lucas's dedication and work ethic. It's my favorite thing about him. But you gotta admit that he's an offensive handicap that makes everyone else work harder for him because he can't create for himself and is generally shut down pretty easily when we expect him to take a quality shot or beat the keeper. He can juke players once in a while, but there's a reason our right backs tend to push up much higher when he's available. He can cover them when they have to track back, but he needs a lot more help when generating offense. That's the right winger's primary responsibility isn't it?

So the Pogba rumors of joining us are slowly fading away it seems... Biggest "news" out there is what's happening with Lukaku - Dybala or late Inter surprise with Icardi for Dybala... Hmmm...

The only way i support buying VdB is if we also buy Eriksen and keep James. If not, and the plan is Casemiro, Kroos, Modrić, Valverde, Isco, VdB, then God help us.

Zidane only has one choice. Pogba. I actually believe that he could resign before season starts if Flo fails to bring him.
