I am one of those who are rarely in my seats, even back in my STH years. That's what I love about Avaya, I can sit, stand, walk around, smoke in the corners, hang out at the lawn, tend to my kids, stare at airplanes landing. Oh yeah, and watch soccer LOL
It seemingly was the Quakes players family day today. Many of their families were sitting in the rows below us in 112. I know wives and kids often sit there, but it seemed like most players had extended family today. Jungwirths had about 8 sitting nearby. Thompson's brothers and some friends were there. Calvillo had a pretty large group. The Cummings and Godoy's (including Annabal) seemed to have many more than usual. I wonder if they do this every year, or is this one of Almeyda's ideas for creating group solidarity and family-like club atmosphere.
My guest was an Avaya newbie. She was excited to meet Brandi Chastain at the root beer float tents. She loved the stadium, and she also told me she's now a fan.
Shoot, I would be too. And I'm old as dirt. Still remember watching that Cup Final at my auntie's house while our place was getting fumigated. It was so hot that summer!
Goals Scored: 1. LAFC -59 (22 Games) 2. Philly -41 (24 Games) 3t. San Jose -39 (22 Games) 4t. . NYRB -39 (23 Games) Goals per game. 1. LAFC- 2.68 2. NYFC- 1.8 3. San Jose- 1.77 4. Philly- 1.70
No they can't, defending in MLS is laughable at best, goalkeeping is atrocious at best. The ONLY team right now that would finish above relegation in the prem would maybe be LAFC. The way salinas just ran through those 2-3 defenders was shambolic on the defenders end. In La Liga/PL/Bundesliga, he'd be taken off the ball before he even knew what to do with it. We're a great team for where we play(in MLS). Our first touch across the whole team, our passing, and passing speed, our running speed and over all pace to the play as a whole would see us relegated from the PL. Not to mention, PL goalkeepers will casually stop our shots as if they're passes, especially vako's shot today, while VERY well placed, lacked any real pace and was from relatively far away. If you think that shot is getting past de gea, Leno, keppa, courtois or any other PL level goalkeeper....I have a bridge in manhattan to sell you.
Your ticket rep is a liar. Stadium was still a fair bit empty. Lobina needs to be shut down 10 minuets after the half starts.
I watch the Premier League a lot as well, and yes, it is a superior league, but, really, get over yourself. Vako's shot was from several yards inside the box, not "relatively far away", and part of the beauty of it was he bent it around the defender who was partially obscuring the view of the goalie. Most Premier League goalies are also not stopping a shot they see too late.
Why? Because there is some problem with people standing at one end of the stadium spending money that helps improve our team?
Your thought re Lobina strikes me as arbitrary and heavy handed. Please explain first your logic, then explain what it is that entitles you to advocate such an edict. For the record, I might do business at the bar pre match then take my assigned seat and stay there. (Another beer at halftime, fetched from the concourse area.) That's how I roll. IMO nobody should be told how to roll. I don't care how the general scene *as I perceive it* looks on TV. I advocate MYOB, and go about my business at Avaya with that as Rule #1.
it was definitely crowded tonight. i'd say an easy 16,000. more than any night prior. good to see, no matter where they are hanging out. as for the game, applause all around. i was getting a bit nervous with a few of our players having yellows late in the second half, but it worked out. and you can't blame them on that late Rapid goal. at least Lopez fought to get back and put his body on the line.
Yeah, based on how long the snack lines were at HT and how hard it was to get out of our seats at the end, this was the best attendance of the year. Really fun soccer! My daughter was sad, though, that Almeyda skipped her poster when signing, and we couldn't get his attention again. He didn't mean to, of course, it was a crush. It is going to be hard to contain my increasing expectations on the year. I want to take down LAFC.
Is this the 5th time Espinoza hits the post this season? Good thing he hits the post and we keep winning because those goals would make his price skyrocket
MLS does not "inflate" attendance figures. MLS teams report tickets sold, not actual number of people in the seats. That is the same as every other sports league in the US that I'm aware of, feel free to provide evidence to the contrary if you have it. Obviously every single attendance number will be "inflated" because it's almost guaranteed that more than 0 people will have tickets but not actually attend the game. You could instead say "we know "MLS attendance figures are higher than the actual attendance" and that would be the truth... but maybe just accept that official "attendance" numbers really just mean "tickets"... you'd think fans of American sports would be used to that by now. 18,000 - 17,762 ... math checks out. See attendance comment above, LOBINA comment below. I have been saying since the place opened that they need to sell separate LOBINA tickets for those who just want to hang out by the bar. Obviously that stopped being an issue over the last few years as the team was so terrible that anyone who wanted to attend could do so. Now that we're playing well maybe they should try that for 2020. I'm not sure what that would require, are they even allowed to have over 18k capacity or would NIMBYs complain?
Is smoking allowed anywhere inside the stadium grounds? I didn't even know it was possible to score negative goals...
I never thought about it like that lol Do we know if the loan agreement includes an option to buy? Because if so, the price may already be set and not change based on his performance. But then again I suppose even with an option to buy the agreement could state that the $ amount increases based on games, goals, etc.
