Absolutely. Was a huge part of why I was drawn to the sport. Events just felt much bigger with Bob involved in the coverage.

Hmm… maybe ESPN+ is bumping-up their coverage of Eredivisie this season(?). Or maybe not and they’re just making an exception for the first week:

    SAT: FC Emmen v Groningen
    SAT: Vitesse v Ajax
    SAT: Twente v PSV
    ---
    SUN: Feyenoord v Sparta Rotterdam

Hard to believe there's any market at all for Emmen v Groningen. Not that I'm complaining, just surprised. Heck, even if I was living in Holland I wouldn't fully expect to find that match on TV given its on the same time as the Ajax match.

4 games per week is where they left off last season. You will always see a match involving the "Big 3" (Ajax, PSV, Feyenoord) and 1 additional match. Here is the ESPN+ schedule thru September 1st -

Kind of surprised they don't just show all of them. Does the Eredivisie not film/produce all matches for distribution?

All matches are available on FoxSports in the Netherlands. Not sure if there is a limit of matches produced for the int'l market...

I just re-activated my monthly ESPN+ subscription after having suspended it about 6 mos ago. Didn't really miss it much in that time, but now I need it to watch some pre-season matches which are only on ESPN+.

So I just have to say THANK YOU DISNEY/ESPN for selling your product this way. It's the way I wish all streaming providers would go. Very customer-friendly. Allowing us to pay for only the months we really need to use your service. Otherwise I would've wasted $30.

NorthBank saying something nice about streaming or a streaming service? And here I thought that Cats trailer was the strangest thing I saw today.

Hahaha. I've generally had relatively nice things to say about ESPN's streaming quality, marketing/pricing, etc. Less so for NBC and the nascent industry as a whole.

    Doesn't 6 x 5 still = 30?

$50 per year. So if annual membership was all they offered you would’ve wasted half that (although I suspect most preseason friendlies are on regular ESPN/Espn2).

You missed the essential point of my original post. They charge monthly, and they let you unsubscribe and resubscribe fluidly. That is what I was commending them for. And thus, I saved $30.

To be precise, You saved $50 minus whatever you paid in the last 12 months (which is less than $30 unless you unsubscribed for at least 8 months).

As it happens, I am just coming up on my one year renewal next week. Best $50 I think I ever spent. And they didn’t increase their price despite having way more content than a year ago.

I don't subscribe annually. That's the point. Thus $50/yr is irrelevant in my case. My rate is $5/mo, as I suspect it is for quite a few others who do likewise.

I will be the loan wolf here and say I do not care about ESPN+ and glad I am not paying the wall they built around their content.
I still have way too many other things to watch as part of my Dish subscription to keep my attention.

Okay, say a monthly subscriber is subscribed for 10 months this year and unsubscribed for 2 months. You would say he saved $10. But he paid $50 during the year (10*5), the same as everyone who paid for the full year. So in reality he didn't save anything.

I'm still just confused as to why someone would subscribe to ESPN+ but give it up for March, April and May

Because my main team is in the first division not the second? ;) Plus they had no more skin in the English cups. And the 3 other teams I watch are all on mainstream TV. Honestly I don't recall a single moment in the past 6 months where I said "man I miss subscribing to ESPN+".

Doesn't look like they are carrying the Johan Cruyff cup this Saturday between Ajax and PSV. :(

ESPN+ only shows the games from Holland that IMG Media produce for international distribution. IMG most likely added a single game for international distribution this season (which is good for everyone). The KNVB Cup nor the Cruyff Cup are part of that package.

I just noticed that on WatchESPN they are requiring you to sign in as a cable subscriber to watch replays of matches that originally aired on ESPN/ESPN2.

For as long as I remember you could replay games on the big two even if you are not a ESPN subscriber. ESPN3 content is still available.

Does anyone know if ESPN+ subscribers can watch replays from the big two?
