Are you going to be joining in with it?

Basically there is going to be a nationwide protest at all Premiership and Coca Cola League games for the re-introduction of safe standing. Lets look at the facts.

At almost every ground in the country, there are at least half a stand of fans who stand up - example, last year at Liverpool vs Celtic the Celtic fans stood, so did the Anfield Road end, and the whole of the Kop. Shows that given the choice most fans would prefer to stand.

At away games, most fans stand too. Just look at Leeds, Man United and the Geordies, always standing.

But because the Government have the paranoia about post hillsborough standing, and the fact that clubs can now fleece us fans just to sit on a seat. 35 quid at Palace and we stood on concrete, had a seat but didn't use it, 15 years ago it would've been less than 3 quid in.

We have standing at top flight rugby games, and at Concerts. 60,000 RHCP fans bouncing about on the pitch at CoM's HAVE to be more dangerous than a terrace of the same fans at Man City. Wheres the logic in being able to stand at the same venue for music, and not for football? Getting ejected in the process too?

I'll be supporting the campaign, will you?

The whole Clock End stand for every game at Highbury. We may sit down for a few seconds now and again during games, but it's generally a standing area!

It's sad to see the suits hammer away at the standing / sitting thing. I suspect too many of them honestly believe the problem was as simple as standing.

Yeah but recently the stewards have been really trying to get us to sit. Bloody annoying. Plus there is a row of non-season ticket holders behind me. Which means every game I get the "Would it be possible for you to sit down please, as Ive paid £x to sit here" The usual retort of "Well bully for you, but Ive paid near a grand to be here for the whole season and very season, and so Im going to stand and if you want to see, you'd better stand to" usually shuts them up.

But if people are paying to be in a seated area it isn't unreasonable to expect those in front to sit down so they can see, with all the season tickets they can't just move somewhere else, and they probably paid more to see the actual game (I'd hope a season ticket would represent a slight saving at least). Not everyone wants to stand up. People should have the choice, although unlike you I do actually have that available to me (thankfully top flight rugby never had that demand as we share a ground with a team that used to play in the top division). As someone who also prefers to stand, I'll go to the terrace, and at this level if you go to an away game some clubs force away fans to stand anyway (others have only seating).

At Halifax the pricing on the terraces was raised a few years ago up to the same level as the previously more expensive seating areas, seems about two thirds choose to stand (myself included).

The concert example seems a better comparison than top flight rugby clubs, I can't think of any (either code) that would get a crowd of anywhere near a top football club.

Bring back terracing. It's live TV covereage that needs to be stopped.

No. But we have as much right to stand. If there is a disabled person behind me, who cant stand. I'll sit down the entire match. But if there is an able bodied person behind me. I'm afraid he wont get to see the game, unless he stands. Fair do's imo.

You should have the right to have a standing area available. You don't. Not all able bodies people want to stand, some do prefer to sit, and they should be able to do that if they so wish.

Which is why separate areas are needed.

True. But if the clubs go back to terraces. They cant charge the same price. Football is big buisness now. Its all about the £££££'s.

Can you sit down if you have to take poo? Is that acceptable? Otherwise, it's just going to be a big mess...

What the campaign is about is letting the people who want to stand, and those who want to sit have thier own seperate areas. You know at aways when most people stand, those who want to sit, cant as the people in front are blocking thier view. The campaign works for both set of groups.

I'd pay 30 quid to stand on a terrace, it feels more natural anyway.

My season ticket costs about £500. Which roughly equals about £20 - £25 a ticket. I would happily pay £35 a ticket. I think all true supporters would imho.
