I want us to go back to 4-4-2 with Efrain up top next to Ibra. This kid needs to start for the rest of the season. We need stamina and the willingness to attack. There is just way too much walking and turnovers at the worst possible times that just keep happening. Ibra can not run hard for 90 full minutes, so that fact that he ends up getting frustrated isn't helping when only 2 people can keep possession in the midfield for a long enough period of time to create a half descent shot at goal. The fact is that Corona and Llegett are not getting it done; and when JDS is not there, it makes them look worse. I feels like I am watching England when they had Gerrard and Lampard in the midfield at the same time. Until we can get some reinforcements I want to start seeing the following,...

    -----------Ibra---Efrain
    ----------
    Boateng---Alvarez---Antuna
    --------
    ----------------JDS

    or
    -----------Ibra---Efrain
    ----------
    Boateng---Alvarez---Antuna
    --------
    ----------------Juninho

My parents were over, watched the Mexico/Costa Rica game with my dad...then go to turn on this game for which I've studiously avoided spoilers only to find out for the first time ever I'm blacked out due to San Jose.

Wasn't so sad when I saw the scoreline. First game I've missed in years.

Guessing we just want to forget this one and I'm just going to skip the replay which will be available tomorrow.

I missed the game. We’re we ever close to equalizing during the long stretch between 1-0 and 2-0?

Or did we really lose as comprehensively as 3-0 suggests?

We really are a team that looks worse then our record lately. Something needs to change cause the current dynamic is of a pretty anemic team heading down the stretch.

I missed the first half. But our second half attack was pretty toothless. That and we got tired and stopped chasing the ball allowing for SJ to finish us off.

It felt like the last 10 to 15 minutes of the first half LA was in control. The best opportunity being Ibra's chip to the upper right post.

    Second half was all Quakes.

I'm thinking second place was a mirage. An illusion created by a cupcake schedule.

We’re a mediocre team with a superstar player who is quickly losing interest, agility, and patience.

GBS has his work cut out for him, but I think we’re in for a long, long summer.

I don’t think we’re 2017/2018 bad, and I think we still make the playoffs, but I think we’ll be playing the play in game.

    We need Zlatan badly.

Fitness for Galaxy leaves much to be desired. Second half the Quacks were running rings around them. Is it the age average in this group of is just bad fitness training? We can't just jog around all the time with spurt here and there or maintain pace only for parts of first half and the have nothing left to rally late in the match. San Jose just had a match a couple days before and they ran US into the ground. Other things wrong but this is part of it. If we get a 12 million dollar man and put him in this sedentary group, then what?

I am starting to doubt if Guillermo has the chops and wherewithall for the job at hand. When put next to a guy like Almeyda the contrast is sobering. And Matias doesn't have an Ibrah or a Jona.:cautious:

It was much closer than the 3-0 suggest. It was a very tight 1-0 for a long time, with the Galaxy failing to produce the right final pass / shot. It sucks, but I don't think this was a bad performance for the Galaxy. In fact, I thought several players like Boateng, Lletget and Araujo stepped their games up. But everyone needs to remember we're missing 2/3 DPs, so this was always going to be tough. This SJ is firing on all cylinders and at home, so hanging with them as long as we did considering our absences is pretty good.

A lot of it is just personnel. We don't have a great athlete on the team (Boateng is fast but also very small and unskilled). We no longer have the likes of Donovan, a player who was naturally gifted with the trifecta of speed, quickness and stamina. We don't have a Kamara or Zardes who can keep defenses honest and beat defenders with their athleticism. Our best 1v1 player and 2nd best finisher Alessandrini is not available.

Instead we have players like Corona who is skilled but neither fast nor a hard worker. We have Kitchen who -despite playing in the center of the midfield - has the lowest work rate and gets the fewest touches of anyone on the team (and it's not even close.*) Then of course we have the amazing Ibra who is 37 and sometimes moves like he is 47.

Of our quicker players the aforementioned Boateng can't pass or cross to save his life. Lletget is never healthy, has a tendency to overdribble and has completely lost his finishing touch. Favio is younger and quicker but he also has a long standing resume of seldom scoring and the same tendency to dribble too much -- often into crowds like last night. Efrain is 17 and isn't a reliable contributor yet. And of course last night we were missing both GDS and Antuna who are the hardest workers on the team.

Speedy outside backs could help the pace in the midfield. But Rolf is oft injured and a liability on defense. Skjoujkj isn't good at either end of the field. Araujo is athletic and promising but also young and raw. Romney is solid and has a high soccer IQ but is slow.

Our best, most reliable and physical players are our 3 centerbacks.

Behind all of these flawed field players we have Bingham. I know he has his defenders here but he really isn't that quick and is a poor decision maker.

This is a long winded way of saying GBS maybe could be doing better but a lot of our weaknesses come from our roster construction. Players like Corona can be a good addition if surrounded by athletes, but on our team he is just another semi-cone. We still have only one striker and he's a temperamental one. So to be really good we need another forward and more athleticism in general. We need to replace some of the deadwood (Kitchen, Skjoiujo) and upgrade others (Boateng, Bingham).

As constructed we will make the playoffs (because the WC sucks) and it will be a crap shoot from there. GBS needs to maximize the players we have and we will have a punchers chance.

But GBS and DTK's biggest job is filling the holes in the roster for 2020.

Agree with this in general. SJ played great and we were missing key players and it was close for 80 minutes or so. I do think we made way a lot of unforced passing errors though.

I haven't watched the Mexico/CR game yet and don't know the results. Worth watching?

I was surprised by how much playmaking Ibra was doing last night. I’m not sure if that is a good or bad thing since most everyone else looked shaky in front of goal. If he goes down the Galaxy are going to be in a world of hurt.

This was absolutely horrendous and sickening to watch. It wasn't even a match, we could do nothing on the pitch toothless and without an idea. Against my better judgment and sanity yours truly will be at the triage mercy park were we will most likely lose again! If wasn't because of the fireworks and the family wanting to see Zlatan I would not even bother. But hey it can't get anyworse than losing to foreigners (TFC) on America's independence day can it? What a farce this league's rules are, make believe we are watching top level football on a rookie NBA player's salary! MLS and Don Garbage....Garber I'm watching NBA free agency because league matches are not interesting at the moment! Salary cap for this season is gonna be $109.14 million per club, when you allow everyone that kind of money then we'll see the difference in quality!!!! #NoMorePennyPinching!!!

He has great vision and passing ability, but also had some downright terrible passes on this particular night. One I remember he passed directly to SJ in the Galaxy half and it resulted in a SOG.
