Well, at least we have our health (and he’s not Honduran).

I've already given my "sequencing" theory on this, that we should basically have the new acquisition in the wings when we approve a transfer out. Because we are cheap we obsess about the money coming in and extend out the transaction, and then fart around and maybe half address it next window. But a team driven by sporting concerns wouldn't keep throwing away seasons like this. You have half a season banked above the red line still. You have a desire to raise ticket prices. You should have a desire to put butts in the seats this season and win and not have to try and win back people next year while asking them for more money. The timing of when to fix things should be obvious.

Based on who we have been playing the first half of the season and especially lately, they want all of the old forwards gone. By that I mean how Quioto has been treated.

My guess is even if they think they are selling anyone prominent on the roster they will wait as long as possible in the window. I think the transfer windows for most leagues runs until August 7th or 8th. You sell Elis or Manotas and it is a virtual white flag on having an impactful playoff run and they would wait on that for business reasons

As a sporting matter, he should go right into the lineup like Alvarez was going to at that spot. The play is poor and the player is not in the long term plans eg dlG. Given the feckless way we do things, I expect he will carry a clipboard unless a CB or RB gets hurt. He is dlG's replacement for NEXT SEASON. Because we don't have the guts to bench uninjured elderly backs.

Similarly, I anticipate Lundkvist is Beasely's replacement when he retires. But he gets to play -- because Beasley got hurt. Irony being based on that we should be shopping and declining the option. I instead expect him to return because we are the sort of team that will bring back anyone ok with a pulse eg Willis headed back up towards 1.4/1.5 GAA.

The best back is Figueroa and at some point he has to retire. Where is his replacement? This is an odd team of win now rentals we accumulated for a team whose intent this summer seems to be to blow it back up and sell but not necessarily buy at forward.

I say this in part because I don't feel like we are building towards progress. We have replacements lined up, but do we care if they are better than the ones being shoved off on the ice floe?

Also, you would think a team with half a brain would trade away some of the disappointments. Nothing in the rulebook says we have to carry the Duvalls and Cabezases and Hairstons and such until October. It's like we are scared to pull some lesser cards in the house of cards for fear of failure, when we are about to pull far more massive cards out right now. If we are rebuilding, blow the f*cker up now and start fixing it. No sense even pretending we want to limp to October this way.

I really hope we are not so stupid as to delay player sales until after the MX games.

They aren't selling Manotas. Guy will be here for a while.

Honestly? Logic and common sense. He made it clear during the off-season when there was interest from elsewhere that he wanted to stay here. He signed a new multi-year contract that pays him over $1 mil per year with the standard MLS annual increases.

He's a good, not great, MLS player. He's not going to be getting strong interest from high value European leagues any time soon. He's ultimately worth more to the Dynamo than to anybody else. Supposedly Cruz Azul came knocking and supposedly they were turned away because they were not willing (no surprise) to offer anything that made moving Mauro worthwhile. Unlikely they would have offered him much more than he's making here already anyway. In a sense, he's been priced out of most moves now. So long as he's happy here (which by all accounts he is) then with what he is being paid now and his value to Houston being higher than anyone is likely to want to offer from a transfer fee standpoint, I don't think he's leaving any time soon.

Elis is a different story because he wants to move on to bigger things and bigger things have come calling for him.

He seemingly told the press he had a Mexican offer and since then has played like a shell of himself and been yanked from games

He never told the press he had a Mexican offer. The rumor was reported by sources covering Cruz Azul.

I think the Cruz Azul negotiations are whey he disappeared during the Gold Cup. Now that he’s back I’d guess they fell through.

I guess I can’t discount Cabrera having a phone it in strategy where he’d just sit him during the window. That’s stupid to me, but Cabrera loves that type of move, so who knows.

Maybe, but he also had to go back to Colombia and only returned a day or two before the first game in that 3 game stretch where he came off the bench. Leaving him on the bench in match 2 and 3 of that stretch wasn't really uncharacteristic of how Cabrera managed the team during that period. He seemed content to rest starters with a view towards been NYRB at home. So I don't necessarily read anything in to that.

    Chilean signing?

To heck with that, give Bradley a call and trade for Mohamed El-Munir
