Negotiations between Arsenal, Saint Etienne and Saliba were in their very final stages - much of it already in the hands of lawyers to agree wording of contracts etc - but Tottenham have reignited their interest and are now pushing hard to get the deal completed #AFC#THFC #ASSE https://t.co/8uihItY3eS — David Ornstein (@bbcsport_david) July 12, 2019 If this happens, there's no telling how incompetent Arsenal Football Club will become.
Even if we put out a story saying Koscielny is injured, his agent knows he is on strike and will relay that to Bordeaux and Rennes, and whoever else is interested. Putting out a cover story only rewards his bad behavior.
Putting out an inflammatory statement doesn't really help in an emotional dispute unless the club have already decided the relationship is over - IMO What I worry about is the prohibitive price indicates that we seem to need to retain him and he is key to our plans Yikes
What was the point of moving from Highbury again? When you see clubs dropping $100 million regularly on this or that player and Arsenal can't even compete after sacrificing all those years to move and now play in the Emirates you really wonder what the point was...
The club had to move to Highbury. The issue is the club making the wrong financial moves at every turn afterward.
We've done some not stupid stuff too, but the current group in charge just seems like they're not proactive. Deals need to get done quickly and quietly, and you don't need to be briefing Ornstein every three days. Also, given what else has happened today, this is an important point: 1149685748888682496 is not a valid tweet id
Ornstein doesn't know much. Since Gazidis left, he is just reporting the stuff everyone else does. We have talked about this. I have no idea how anyone can be at ease with Raul leading this club. Barcelona is a badly ran club and has been the last decade. Since they sold Eto'o for Zlatan, its been so many perplexing moves. Raul was there for all of it. When Mislinstat left because Raul thought it would be better for Arsenal to make moves based on agent connections, I lost my shit.
Joachim Andersen moved to Lyon for 25+5. He was cited as a target for Arsenal earlier in the window and went for an affordable price. He is quite good.
We are weeks before the start of the season. We've signed no new CB. Are we really going to be relying on the likes of Mozzer, Holding and ancient Kos? How come we can't even manage to sign another Sokratis?
But we've strung every deal out, publicly, for over a month now. I'm guessing Raul has been working on all of this stuff semi-publicly to keep the fans on his side. It's a mess entirely of the org's own making.
I really think that's part of why Kos is on strike--he knows he's not ready to be part of a PL first choice backline!
Given the timing, I wonder if this wasn't leaked by St. Etienne to get us to pay more money after the Koscielny news dropped.
Arsenal can't even close a deal thats 95% done. They're going to start the season with the same squad that ended last years. Minus the guys who left, for free.
