    I think Firmino could work as a glue forward, facilitating everybody else up front. We can’t count on him to produce Romario’s or Ronaldo’s type numbers. Unfortunately, I don’t thing Jesus can either.

    As for next year’s Copa, I think Tite might deploy an experimental squad for that tournament. We just won, so we won’t be pressured to win again, and we could use the matches to try new players that haven’t been used. I could see VJ being the focal point of said experimental squad.

    Tite must find a replacement or back-up for Dani Alves ASAP. Emerson from Betis is the only one good enough for the Senior team, IMHO.

    RB is a problem for us, As of now Danilo might start again in the next world cup, but he’s not the answer. A 39 Dani Alves could only work if his function on the pitch changes, with protection from the CBs on defense and a inside type facilitator on offense, not playing wide.

    What's wrong with Alex Sandro? Or is this to find a back up? RB is the main issue now.

    Nothing wrong with him, absolutely about finding a back-up. He is going to be 30 or 31 in Qatar so I do think he'll end up replaced, but he'd be in the pool.

    Realistically I think it's likely we'll play with 1 or 2 changes only in the first friendly (and one of those changes would be Neymar if available).

    But, when we do experiment, based on the options out there we have more left-back choices to start looking at.

    And if we do look their first, Dani Alves probably stays to maintain continuity and leadership. But who knows, it's possible even with fewer options that the coaching staff decides they know who they want to see as a right-back and we see a new starter there first.

    OMG I'm alive :eek:

    My observations about Copa América 2019:

    Concordo em grande parte com o que Renato Maurício Prado escreveu nesta matéria: https://esporte.uol.com.br/futebol/...07/08/maior-vitoria-foi-ganhar-sem-neymar.htm

    Pontos principais:

    Positivos

    + Comprovou que não precisa existir a Neymar-dependência, o que é muito diferente de dizer que somos melhores sem ele. Apenas reforça que, quando ele está em campo, os outros jogadores têm que chamar a responsabilidade também e o próprio Neymar tem que saber dividí-la;

    + Revelou o Everton na seleção (apesar de eu achar que ele precisa finalizar mais, assim como o Firmino), e introduziu/cimentou Neres, Richarlison, Arthur e Militão na seleção, jovens que têm tudo pra serem importantes no nosso futuro;

    + Redenção de Jesus, totalmente queimado após a Copa do Mundo, ganhou confiança e fez partidas excelentes contra a Argentina e Peru. Torço para ganhar mais espaço no City, nem que seja jogando pela direita com Aguero em campo (porém a concorrência é grande pois Bernardo Silva vem jogando muita bola);

    + Reafirmou a força de nossa zaga que, apesar da idade avançada, se monstrou impenetrável com a bola rolando.

    Negativos

    -- Enterrou Coutinho de vez, talvez se ele mudar de time ele consiga se re-erguer. Onda será que estão aqueles que diziam "Meu 10 veste a 11" na Copa do mundo, heim...?;

    -- Meu Deus, o que faremos sem Daniel Alves? D: ;

    -- Ataque se mostrou inócuo perante times altamente defensivos. Credito isso muito à má fase do Coutinho, se o Neymar estivesse jogando na posição dele creio que teríamos mais chances, ou mesmo se tivéssemos finalizado melhor/ não ter tido tanta zica com o VAR... De qualquer forma, a Europa tem times que sabem se defender assim e, diferente da Venezuela e Paraguai, tem contra-ataques afiadíssimos, então a Seleção tem que aprender a furar essas retrancas;

    -- Meu Deus, o que faremos quando Casemiro for suspenso por cartões amarelos pela nonagésima vez? D: (creio que a resposta seja o Fabinho);

    -- Senti falta de um 9 matador, forte e que seja bom no alto e fazendo parede pra os pontas entrarem na área. Firmino é um jogador muito bom, mas errou muito pelo alto e não mostrou muita capacidade em proteger a bola contra os zagueiros, pra mim lhe falta presença física. Não sei quem temos para suprir essa característica;

    Concluindo, creio que o torneio foi muito positivo para o Brasil e para o Tite, que mexeu no time muito mais rápido dessa vez (mas que tem que esquecer seus namorados Willian e Fernandinho, cujos ciclos já acabaram na seleção) e espero que a vitória traga estabilidade para o Tite fazer experiências e trazer ainda mais novos jogadores para o nosso time.
    Espero também que quando o Neymar voltar, o Everton continue no time titular, e que usemos o Neymar como ponta de lança a la Zico (meu único pesar quanto à isso é que, quando ele estiver mais próximo do meio de campo, ele tem que soltar a bola mais rápido, pois perder a bola nessa faixa do campo é pedir pra tomar contra-ataque na fuça). Outra opção seria usar Neymar pela esquerda, Jesus no meio e Everton na direita (porém não sei se ele joga bem dos dois lados) e Firmino como armador.

    As @Mengão86 predicted a lot of articles about Seleção without Neymar. All this proved is that we can win a CA without him. But I think clearly we'd have trouble in a WC. Obviously it all depends on how good opponents are, but one would presume there'd be at least 2-4 very good to solid European teams at any point in time where we'd have big trouble playing against without Neymar (at this point). Things could change in 3 years time of course.

    I would only be weary of using Neymar as a true 10 because that position is essentially dead. When was the last time a team won a WC or even CL with a ponta de lança ?

    We could try a 4-4-2 too, with Everton/Casemiro/Arthur/Richarlison and Neymar + Jesus/Firmino upfront, but Everton and Richarlison need to defend a lot.

    These are Brazil's post-2018 World Cup numbers:

    Matches: 16
    Wins: 13
    Losses: 0
    Draws: 3
    Goals Scored: 38
    Goals Allowed: 3

    Admittedly, Dunga had similar numbers during his first stint, and he didn't win the World Cup in 2010. But this isn't too shabby at all. Tite has done an excellent job.

    I'd pump the brakes on Everton. Outside of Argentina, which he did not play well against, we managed to avoid the upper levels of competition in the Copa America -- Uruguay, Colombia and Chile, to a lesser degree. At the most, he has earned a spot on the squad for the time being, but not a starting spot with Neymar healthy.

    Brazil plays Colombia in Miami on Sep. 6 and Peru on Sep. 10 in Los Angeles. Anyone know who are the October and November opponents?

    They are not defined yet. CBF should try one of the top 5 european teams, but they don’t seem to have dates available.

    Seleção call up tomorrow for next couple of friendlies vs Colombia and Peru. Curious to see what changes Tite will make.

    I am not sure if I would have called Bruno Henrique. He is playing well for us, but I don't think he's playing at a level which would warrant a call. He was playing at a higher level for Santos last year.
