I'm really sick of this rationalization. No he's not better against 3 opponents than an open man, and he does the same thing at BVB where he has a couple teammates more talented than him.
Sure. We got some guys who aren’t even here who are automatic write ins. And a handful of those u20 kids look legit. I’m not worried. At all. We’ve created great chances tonight with this crew.
Berhalter would have taken a 0-1 loss to Mexico in the final if it was offered at the beginning of the tournament. View his decisions through that lens and everything will make more sense.
If Zardes had decent touch, he would have been in on goal before the corner. Or he would have scored after the corner.
Did Zardes ever actually make it on the field? I thought I saw him subbing in for Altidore, but I have not in fact seen him on the field.
Bradley has mostly been getting beaten because he’s playing out of position and ending up in places he shouldn’t be, overloaded situations in which he rarely succeeds. They are targeting and taking advantage of the poor cover and awareness of Ream, Arriola, and McKinnie every bit as much as Bradley. Even CPs lack of work, frankly. Bradley has also been proactive in a way McKennie hasn’t and has been incredibly unlucky after going in and nearly winning multiple challenges... but that never gets any credit here. And to be fair I don’t even expect it to, overall he’s had a bad half. Mostly Berhalter left him and Ream out to dry with no proper response.
Did you guys know that Guardado has scored in every Gold Cup final in which he has appeared? I heard that somewhere. 50,000 times tonight.
Roldan has it fall to him and he thrashes it at it, blasting it right into the two defenders in front of him. So, we've seen Boyd in that exact same situation, and he kept calm, took his angle and guided it in. Just sayin'.
Make Arriola switch from LWB to LW. May alleviate the issues with Bradley having a FB who should be better than a CB 1v1 there. The only things I can see or think of lol
