I think you're correct although I never said anything contrary. Only that, some of us have nothing better to do on a Saturday so even if Bobby Wood score 10 goals against a Girl Scout troops might be mildly engaging.

For the most part, I would argee. Scoring a hat-trick in a friendly against an amateur or near-amateur team means little; NOT scoring/playing well in these things can be a canary in the coal mine. (Not always, of course, and it's a pretty blunt instrument, but still.) I feel like a few times I've watched guys come off injury or poor seasons and not had a typical rampage-over-small-local-club summer they have struggled in the following season. (Rubin comes to mind - but I'm just going off memory.) So I 100% agree that Wood scoring hattricks all summer in 10-0 or 14-1 games does not say a lot about him having a great season, but were he to go 0-fer or just a few goals here and there, it might suggest his knee issues or something else are still dogging him. Hopefully, it's not a theory we get to test in this case.

Nothing big. Just talks about really liking the trainer and how he's happy that he's being given a chance. He also says that it's almost as if he never left Hamburg even though last year was quite difficult in Hannover.

    Here's hoping he breaks through!

Guy was already a Top 3 striker in the 2.BuLi at 23. They need to have some faith in him, no one regresses THAT much between 23 and 26, right?

This preseason game against a 5th division opponent is meaningless but scoring goals against someone has to boost his moral.

1860 lost because they are no longer in a professional league.

meanwhile, White/Blue not the only one trolling Wood...

(How much of a loser do you have to be to pop up on a board after a few years to try to troll both a player in a division higher than your crap team and some other national team? It's like mom cut off the cable or something.)

Oh good, Haji Wright is going to 1860 so all the bitter blues can have their own thread to dump in.

Being an 1860 fan, while predicting and pining for Wood's demise once he left likely scarred many a Bayerischer. The sad, terrible of image of W/B 1860 languishing in his mom's stanky rathskeller, seeing Wood climb the Bund ladder while watching 1860 descend the rocky falls of German pro sports evokes an Otto Dix etching-like image of pain and derangement...

We should, of course, pity, not chastise, the poor victim.

1860 fans like their life like they like their coffee: dark, bitter and way too acidic.
