Striker Aaron Seydel is out of action due to heel problems. "He'll do his rehab program in peace and quiet, so we'll have to see when he comes back so that he can show himself again," says sporting director Rouven Schröder. In Holstein Kiel, the lanky attacker has played 35 games in the past two years and scored four goals, of which due to his injury problem, however, only six games in the past season.

lol Pourie (I hate this guy's name, since I'm fluent in French. Means sucks/rotten, LMAO) and Big Phil made their 2BL returns with both scoring in a 2-1 win. Big Phil Hofmann scored the winner as well. I don't rate either but it's good to see them do something after years of struggles.

    2BL season starts with
Pourie, Hofmann, Kyreh, Gomez, D.Otto, lyoha, Behrens all scoring.

while Winztheimer, F.Kruger, Tietz, Engels (who seems like was made into a striker while being in the Netherlands) all assisted once.

would love to see a young German striker manage to win top scorer, although I have my doubts about it happening. Let's see how Old man Klos and Voglsammer do tomorrow for AB. And 94-Glatzel is suspended for the 1st 2 2BL games of the season for Heidenheim. I'm surprised that Glatzel is still in 2BL? No interest from 1BL or elsewhere?
23 goals/assists in 29 games last season including a hat trick vs Bayern Munich in German Cup.

as of now no striker nor player has scored more than once after matchday 1, although there is 1 more game.

it's interesting that last season, top scorers from top 25.
1-Terodde, promoted with Koln to 1BL
2-Cordoba, promoted with Koln to 1BL (Colombian)
5-Wooten, left for MLS (German-American, USA player)
7-Adamyan, left for Hoffenheim in 1BL (German-Armenian, Armenia Player)
    11-Lasogga, left for Qatar, LOL
13-Andersson, promoted with Union Berlin to 1BL, Swedish
17-Michel, promoted with Paderborn to 1BL
18-Tekpetey, jumped to 1BL Fortuna (Ghanaian)
21-Beck, relegated with Magdeburg to 3rd Liga
23-Antwi-Adjei, promoted with Paderborn to 1BL

all these guys are gone from 2BL, that's less competition. Almost half the top 25 left this Summer. Get the feeling that 2BL top scorer this season could be open field.

fun fact about Pourie is that he's Germany's all time top scorer in the Danish 1st division, lol.
and even in terms of all time scorers in that league he's at #30.

at 38 goals and 14 assists in 134 games, a goal every 234 min. Playing 7 seasons there from 2011-2018. Then cameback to Germany and joined a 3rd Liga club who got promotion.

well very likely he won't be beat anytime soon by any German striker or player, since our strikers usually don't really go to Denmark or wouldn't last that long there.

so Pourie gets to get a German record even if he's not a great player.

while Big Phil, completely bombed in English Championship, came back to 2BL bombed there as well and helped get his club relegated. He then did well for in 3rd Liga for a club who nearly got 2 relegation in 2 years and jumped ship to a promoted side.

    add
10-Glatzel, going to Cardiff in Championship, England.
will he bomb like Big Phil, Srbeny etc. Although hes better player than a lot of the Championship busts.

Cardiff City: Striker Robert Glatzel set to sign for Bluebirds

Cardiff City are poised to sign German striker Robert Glatzel from Bundesliga Two club Heidenheim.

The 25-year-old is due in the Welsh capital on Tuesday for a medical to conclude a deal worth £5.5m.

Glatzel, who stands at 6ft 4ins, scored a hat-trick for Heidenheim in their 5-4 German Cup defeat against Bayern Munich, in April.

The player was manager Neil Warnock's number one summer target, and could be followed by another striker.
    https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49166389

looks like a lot of Championship sides wanted him but its Cardiff who seems to have won.

and yeah it does reiterate more and more than 2BL top scorer this season is open field.

    preseason is meaningless but
95-Selke scored once while 95-Kopke scored a double in a 5-3 loss to EPL West Ham.

what I find interesting is how Kopke does well enough for Hertha when given the chance whether friendlies or 1BL last season yet that's the problem he's still barely used.

I get the impression that Kopke was brought on to EVENTUALLY get real chances/replace when Ibisevic and Kalou are done at the club and not before.

Hertha seem close to buying Lukebakio for $20M. Between Selke, Ibi, Kalou, Lukebako.......yeah he's headed for more bench time once again. Pretty wasteful time at Hertha.

also nothing Hertha are doing is helpful to any youth striker at the club neither Pronichev, Kiprit, Ngankam etc. Add 01-Redan.

I've seen plenty of people myself included that are annoyed that Ngankam has been bench player in 2/2 games in Hertha II. Seems to have done well once again when he came on also picked up 2 assists, currently at 2 assists in 2 games for the new RL season. But why is Kiprit besides pro contract blocking Ngankam? He blocked Roczen last season and this time Ngankam. Even seen some comments about how Ngankam seems to have more tools to play 1BL than Kiprit and Pronichev.........Guy even scored like 12 goals in 5 preseason games for Hertha II........yet he's a bencher.....

and explain this to me what happens to Ngankan when Redan who is training with 1st team goes back to Hertha II? Even more bench time? Seems like he's wasting time at the club who don't seem to care about his dev.

-Uth is back from his injuries and played in some friendly.
-Thy scored the opening goal of the 2019-2020 Eredivisie season. Really does seem like he found his level in that league, 3 seasons running.Might as well retire there since if he comes back to Germany he's at best 2BL level.

    2BL Action
-Zoller with a goal and assist in a 3-3 draw. While Klos also opened his account and Voglsammer also picked up a goal and assist.
-Keita Ruel scored a double in a 3-1 win for Furth. Currently leading 2BL scorer, although only 3 matches were played for Matchday 2, 6 to go.

and Kopke seems like he could be loaned out to Dynamo in 2BL for the season. So once again no real chances for him as Hertha have like 4 options for striker and he seems to be 5th choice.

he did well in 2BL in past and he did well in limited 1BL time but still no 1BL breakthrough. In terms of breakthrough I'm not talking about becoming a starter in 1BL. Not every striker starts in 1BL, you still need sub/bench strikers too. He still hasn't reached the 1BL bench at the min.

-seems like Ginczek is out until end of 2019. Stindl is out until like Nov. This is an issue with German strikers, aging group, injury prone players, guys like Wagner/Glatzel/Kruse/Gomez/Weydandt etc who get relegated or go lower level leagues. You also got guys like Ducksch did well in 2BL unable to perform in 1BL and now back in 2BL.

injuries have been tough even to younger ones like Platte, Seydel, Teuchert, Stindl, Ginczek etc these are all guys who've had injury issues for either long times or over last year.

-meanwhile Big Phil scored a double for Karlsruher in a 4-2 win and now at 3 goals in 2 games!!! Leading scorer of 2BL, will he finally get his big 2BL breakout season? Best 2BL season for him has been 8 goals tops, will turn 27 in March next season. Let's go Big Phil, make the 1BL jump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

LOL WTF Ducksch just missed an open net to make it 1-0 for H96. Showing why he doesn't deserve to be in 1BL and continues to show why Klopp never rated him.

Ducksch with a nice cross for the Weydandt header goal to make it 1-0.

Maina played well and Weydandt really should have scored from his pass, wasted chance.

looks like Kuhlwetter might not happen as Heidenheim signs a 94 striker, who started the 3rd Liga season at 2 goals and 2 assists in 4 games.
