    Considering the US hasn't played yet, it will be interesting to see if and how much this changes after they do.

    I believe it is because this is a first generation of entire stadium's worth of soccer fans for a few years going. Next generation of MLS die-hards will be bigger, more fanatical, and more vested in their local team. This will grow year after year. In 30 years, MLS television numbers will truly break soccer TV records by number. Though maybe not by % of the country watching. TV numbers for soccer in Argentina and England by percentage will be higher, but TV numbers by quantity of TV households will be led by United States, MLS Soccer, U.S. Open Cup, CCC. etc.

    You really think there will be anything resembling traditional TV in 30 years?

    I don't really care if viewerships in 3 decades resembles early 1990s TV ... pre-Netflix, pre-internet video streaming or doesn't. All I'm interested in is that Soccer Viewing numbers in the United States go upwards in what ever medium they watch it.

    And the reason, I find the U.S. market very interesting is because only 10 % of TVs have to be on a soccer match, and that's 30 million people. (Source: https://www.nielsen.com/us/en/insig...v-homes-in-the-us-for-the-2018-19-season.html)

    These are baby steps.

    All sports viewership is about to fall off a cliff. No more ESPN to just tune into and watch.

    On an off week for MLS, I'd be really interested in seeing the ratings on CBS for the MLR Championship game.

    Why are we comparing MLR which is in reality a semi-pro rugby league ($350k per team) with 9 teams to MLS?

    From wiki I looked at your media deals. If I read them correctly only a fraction of games played are broadcast ... BTW I have lumped the media deal on the last line of each code.

    What I added to the wiki chart is total games that appear to be broadcast and am I correct????

    If so by the figures below the NBA is paid 2.7 billion for 144 games which is 18, 750, 000 per game.. does this make sense or am I off the page with my cal's...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_professional_sports_leagues_in_the_United_States_and_Canada

    NFL == 10 / 16.6m (aggregate) == $7.2 bn

    NBA ==2.3 / 3.9m (ABC, 16 games)
    ==1.1 / 1.7m (TNT, 52 games)
    == 1.1 / 1.7m (ESPN, 76 games) == $2.7 bn .... meaning 144 games

    MLB == 1.4 / 2.1m (Fox, 12 games)
    == 0.8 / 1.1m (ESPN, 16 games)
    == 0.3 / 0.4m (FS1, 40 games)
    == 0.2 / 0.3m (TBS, 13 games)== $1.5 bn ... meaning 81 games

    NHL == 0.8 / 1.3m (NBC, 12 games)
    == 0.2 / 0.3m (NBCSN, 88 games) == $200 m ... meaning 100 games

    MLS == 0.5 / 0.7m (FOX, 5 games)
    == 0.2 / 0.3m (ESPN, 34 games)
    == 0.1 / 0.2m (FS1, 29 games)
    == 0.1 / 0.2m (Univ, 34 games) == $90 m ... meaning 102 games

    Why are you bitching about a one off look at a new sports league getting its championship game shown OTA and comparing that to the current state of MLS?

    Apparently Nielsen includes streaming platform viewers but not streaming TV in their ratings, which would explain why NHL ratings includes streaming viewers as the games are broadcast on Hulu.

    Why are you requoting a post from two month old article out the blue. I get that there hasn't been much MLS info but seems odd. What is the BTW to add? Did the rest of your post get cut off or something?
